    Literally never thought of doing it this way, this has opened up a world of creativity for me. Feel like doing this with a multi band would really make your track breath

    Is keeping the low end on the sidechain signal typical for this style? I usually highpass the sidechain signal so that the compressor only responds to the high click part and have more control with the release settings.

    Peak will result in a bit faster attack/release than RMS

    Wouldn't it make more sense to route everything but the kick to one channel and put the sidechain on that? Aren't you also compressing the kick you're using as a trigger with the sidechain on the master?

      it would make more sense, but i dont think daft punk did things that made sense all the time

    The only DP track that has a similar flavor is their Chemical Brothers "Life is good" remix.
    But it's not even close. If it would be made that easy, we could have millions of artists that sound like DP.
    But in reality nobody sounds and never had a sound like DP.

    I’m coming from FL and Ableton. I gotta say I’m not that happy with sidechain sound in Logic with the stick compressor

    ...so you're not using the Kick as the sidechain trigger mate? (I mean, I know you're not- as I watched the video...- but can I ask why not?)

    Great video. Did you also individually sidechain the bass off the kick?

      i'm trying to use Zenbeats on iOS DAW with my hardware, instead of working in a computer. first surprise: no sidechain in the DAW! WTF Roland, LOL?

    As for when I do any ducking/side chain comp stuff.. I never use the sound you hear the track.. Sure,,, I can USE that Kick Sound, I just duplicate the track and assign to NO Output...
    That way I can change the sound , if I want to , to change the effect, also allows some cool polyrhythm pumping.. Just allows more options..
    Bit of 3630 trivia... When I worked in HiTech Music retail store, We opened up a 3630 when we got our First shipments.(we did that with all our gear, ) and low and behold, the first few revisions actually had The VCA chip from DBX in it,,, Also... The 3630 has the fastest gate (open /close) Id ever experienced on a box like that....
    (To add: Biggest let down? Waiting years for the announced Behringer TUBE gear , the compressor which basically was their 1 unit versions, all surface mount , with a TUBE init and a bulb behind it to show you the Tube was on!! lol... That 2 unit box inside was all air!)

    Would there be a Ableton stock comparison for the classic vca compressor sound or just use the stock compressor?

    • @mrnovember410
      @mrnovember410 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Abletons Glue Compressor is modeled after the SSL G series Bus Comp, a very classic VCA compressor. It will get you closer to what you’re going for than the standard ableton compressor!

    is he using the Kick to trigger the compressor or is he just compressing the master channel?

    • @pachacache5186
      @pachacache5186 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      he using de low frequencies ( boosted) in the kick to trigger the compressor but not “all” the kick, because in the side chain section, this is internat compressor ( no inputs)

    i don’t get it. are you side chaining with anything?

    • @hotzemusic
      @hotzemusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      this uses the internal side chain of the compressor

    • @visible7044
      @visible7044 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hotzemusic in this context does that just mean eq'ing the side chain to respond only to a certain frequency? or does it mean that it eq'd so that everything above the kick is sidechained and the kick is left alone?

    • @hotzemusic
      @hotzemusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@visible7044 you're correct on the first point. The first bit is boosting some on the kick to send more into the comp, then using the internal sidechain filter to futher shape what the comp is reacting to.
      Its still compressing the whole signal, but only reacting to whatever you feed it w/ the sidechain filter.
