Time will pass but this beautiful performance will stay and that idea makes me extremely happy.

Eventually all will pass. Nothing will remain. Even the concept of time itself.

I've yet to hear a performance of this lovely work that comes anywhere near this superb account by Cortot.

I've been looking for this performance not knowing it existed 🎉.
His agogic is magical, how he squeezes and lingers over notes and never sounds studied. Thank you whoever uploaded and thank you TH-cam algorithm 🙏🎶❤🍞

Cortot was a supreme musician and artist.

I like this one very much - he is not rushing into the phrases, but lingers just long enough for the tone to travel to the listener.

Delighted to have discovered this. I was taught by one of Cortot's pupils.

Not the repertoire Cortot is usually associated with, but as always, he finds something very special to say about the music.

+eoselan7 Well, actually i think his recording of Debussy's preludes (book 1) are among the best (the best for me) ever recorded. He was a great musician and pianist and excelled regardless the repertoire )

Cortot was/is noted for his fine interpretations of Debussy and Ravel. Despite his sporadic technical splashes (mercifully few here) his insightful performances always captivates the discerning listener.

Cortot actually premiered Ravel's Fantasy for Piano and Orchestra!

@@zanexiao4488 I doubt that, since no piece by that name was ever composed by Ravel...

@Arjun Singh Ah, ok, in that case it is correct :)

Le style très personnel de cortot ne fait qu'un avec l'esprit du grand maurice...

Beautiful performance. I like how he approaches the first movement. Rather slow.

Any notes Cortot touches are going to be a musical painting or dance. As are these.

    音楽家の存在を考えた時、寡作家のラベルより、ビシー政権に好意的だったけど、コルトーの方が巨大だ。

Interpretación de 1931. Contemporáneo y amigo de Ravel.

have you heard ravel play this? 😂 its twice as fast!

    • @jcbsrm
      @jcbsrm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

actually it is as fast as Ravel's recording. Ravel only recorded 1st and 2nd movements and the timing of both recordings is the same, just 6.50 minutes for first two mov.s. They are both fast, not slow..
