Thank you for your great videos. I am a university student from Japan. When I operate like a video, ANSYS2020R1 gives the same result as the video, but ANSYS2021R2 gives the completely different optimized shape. The results was only one-third of its original mass. Why are the optimization results different?
Thanks for the tutorial! There must be a way to avoid both sides being non symetrical. Is there a mirror like option to mirror the right side over the left side for instance?
Amazing video! I am coming across a problem though, after I run the solution for topology optimization, I am getting a different geometry. I am only getting 1 hole in the center of the beam, but not the other 2 holes next to it. Do you have an idea what that is happening? Thanks.
Welcome ! I believe ANSYS topology optimization is suitable for linear state and bonded contact. You can do nonlinear optimization with Altair optistruct.
Sir, very much informative video. I want to perform the topology optimization with minimise mass as objective function and stress (local/global) as constraint. For that purpose, i have first performed the static structural analysis and obtained the maximum von Mises stress. Can you please tell me what should be the maximum local/global stress response constraint, is it yield strength of material or maximum value of von-mises stress for unoptimised case? When I set response constraint as material yield strength and if in any case maximum von Mises stress for unoptimised case is more than yield strength, then there is not so much material reduction. Any idea about this aspect? Thanks in advance.
You should use stress as yield for ductile material, or even you can use some factor safety with yield limit too. Ideally it should not happen, "maximum von Mises stress for unoptimized case is more than yield strength". It mighet happen only when load are huge. First use yield limit and if not helps, then use factor of safety for yield (define allowable stress).
I am unable to edit(apply nodal force) the optimised geometry.(28th min). It's is showing unable to update geometry. Could you please help me ...it's urgent.
Check your ANSYS version. Nodal selection available in latest version. But you can apply on faces too, no need to apply on nodes. Select respective region of the face and apply the forces.
Hi I am civil engineering student and I am doing My graduation note for my last year in the university , the subject is "effects of retaining walls on the dynamic response of retained structures " so I wonder if you can do a vedios on such subject In my PC I have Ansys 16.0 Also I have recently a problème where I can no longer change the properties of materials, it is like they are gone from Ansys, I can't change for exemple poissons ratio or density ....etc and I end up working always with structural steel So I hope you help me with some advices And thank you in advance
Excuse me, may I ask why the results obtained by following the steps in the video are strange.... (if it is possible , maybe I can send my result by Gmail )
When i am opening my geometry in spaceclaim 21:42 some components are missing from my geometry. Can u suggest something
Very much useful Thanks please do more on this🙏
Thank you
This video is very good! Amazing!
Thank you for appriciation

Hello, Check the analysis setting and mesh setting. It might slightly differ in both versions. Ideally results should not change much.
Please can you make a video of the analysis of a reinforced concrete beam.
Okay
Hi there ! I am a civil engineering student and I found your video quite useful. Can this be done to optimise truss designs ?
Yes, absolutely.
sir, please make videos on crashworthiness and impact analysis
We started video series on explicit analysis. You can cross check our impact analysis video too.
Thanks for the tutorial! There must be a way to avoid both sides being non symetrical. Is there a mirror like option to mirror the right side over the left side for instance?
Thanks, Yes you can do geometry mirror in design modeler or spaceclaim.
I didn't find topology optimisation command in toolbox

Thank you ! Mesh also affect the optimized geometry. Also check how much geometry you want to retain (0.3 to 0.6).
@@graspengineering9249 it's because I followed every single step but okay thanks! I will double check my settings
Hi sir
In my ansys 2022 R1 student version the option for topology optimization is not showing please can you figure out what is the problem?
I am not sure, but it should show the option.
It has now been renamed structural optimisation.
Thanks for your tutorial!! Topology optimization can be used in non linear problems?
Welcome ! I believe ANSYS topology optimization is suitable for linear state and bonded contact. You can do nonlinear optimization with Altair optistruct.
can you explain please the graphs?
Which Graphs ?
@@graspengineering9249 the graphs that occur at the solution of the topology optimization.

nice tutorial
Thank you! Cheers!
Kindly give details regarding webinar of shell bodies stress linearisation.
Welcome and thank you for appreciation.
Why does the equivalent stress level increase after optimization? Even though mass was minimized, wouldn't we want stress to also decrease?
Stress is inversely proportional to area, As you reduce area stress will increase.
Sir how can we add parameters in catia for optimization
At present, we haven't created any video on CATIA. We have create one parametrization video on ANSYS.
is it possible to do this using designmodeler
Yes.. you can do with Design Modeler too.

You can download the recent ANSYS version and install it.

Sir I need to ask one thing after pandemic how will be our CAE field sir ? Please tell me sir I'm seeking for job ... Will it be ok or bad ?
Excuse me, may I ask why the results obtained by following the steps in the video are strange.... (if it is possible , maybe I can send my result by Gmail )
It might varying due to meshing as well as geometry you are retaining. Please check both the things properly.
