I really hope the writers took the criticisms of season 1 to heart and made this season more faithful to the source material. I want this show to be good so badly. Halo is such an amazing modern sci-fi story and it needs a good screen adaptation.

Whoever is behind the cinematography is absolutely killing it, but I really wish they would keep chief's helmet/suite on more. I love Pablo Schrieber, but Master Chief is just far more imposing when hes a silent giant without a face.
That’s not how he was in the books. Just the games.
You base Master Chief off the video game version. There is way more lore in the books, and he is not always in his helmet and suit.

It was really good in season 1. That's why everywhere that doesn't allow review bombers to post a bunch of BS actually had it rated highly and why it was watched by a huge number of people.

If this season is good and they get a third season, I can see something where at the end of this season after losing reach and losing most of the Spartans, John goes full on robot and almost never takes helmet off again, and season three can start off where the first halo video game started.

I think that, as badly as they did it, it's the intention of the adaptation. To show John before Master Chief, and what led him to become that symbol behind the man he was.

I think it was just one too many things. Just my opinion but I could deal with the Kwon story line and the rest being somewhat disappointing. I could deal with the Chief going through Spartan puberty and the rest being disappointing. Combine both blondie, the Johnson family vs. Halsey and Kwon? It was just too much for me. I have Pillar of autumn suprise attack vibes from CHief fighting without a suit. Also the corridor shape is spot on Forerunner architecture.

@@captainuseless2120 The lore is kind of inconsistent on this; as Mjolnir has also been described as a "second skin" (very comfortable). Either way, I think Spartans would mostly not wear it when not in a warzone.
@spark_bears whenever they were off duty or waiting for a mission, most SPARTANs removed their helmets or their gear to make modifications

It really wasn't that bad first time around. I'm glad they're pushing further into the proper look and feel though. The writing staff is entirely new, too. Luckily they started far enough back that, if they pull off this second season right for lovers of the lore, they could easily push into the original Halo trilogy smoothly and win people over. I think the first season had a lot going for it as a big halo fan and it wasn't executed as well as it should have been, but it was still much stronger than I would've expected given how hard a Halo TV show is to pull off

Something I really like is the scale looks a lot better the elites seemed too big in season 1 but they seem like they are the perfect size in this season!
I'm watching S01 now and I don't think they're smaller, I think the SF people made their armor more form-fitting so now they just don't look as bulky as they do in S01, but I could be wrong.
Regardless it looks better just thought at least in the first episode MC looked a little too small while fighting the elites

Never taking a helmet off is unrealistic. At first it felt off to me as well, but the more I’ve thought about it, I don’t mind it. Him fighting a bunch of elites without armor is badass. Fighting those elites in the shadows by himself looks amazing.

Idk if season 2 will be good or not But either way I wish my brother could watch it with me. Im 26 him(33) he introduced me to halo 20 years ago on the original xbox and we played all the campaigns on legendary except for infinite due to him being sentenced 42 years. Yes i know, no one asked but seeing this trailer reminded me of the bond and lengthy conversations about the thousands of years of lore we have had the past 2 decades.

The reasoning the sentencing is so harsh is because he also had a couple duis that we weren't aware of so he couldn't have a firearm. He served 12 years in infantry(army) with 2 tours to afghanistan. So we never question him having firearms because we didn't know about the felony dui charges since we live in different states. If you search on Google images "Tommy wyatt muskogee pheonix" the first 2 pics are him.
At least he is still alive. As long as one is breathing, there is always hope. In the meantime, perhaps you can share your experiences of watching it, write to him or give him a post card to hold onto the memory you once shared tp let him know how much you still miss him if possible.

I reeaaallly reeaaally want this show to succeed. Badly, and I know there are game/lore fans out there who agree with me. Hopefully when Henry Cavill's WH40K tv show/movie kicks off, and MAYBE Star Wars gets back on its feet, I hope Halo is up there with them. The 3 greatest sci fi franchises of the future.
I am kinda okay with him removing his helmet.. it kinda gives the human touch a bit... the problem is not about him removing his helmet or his clothes (lol!), its just that the whole entire season 1 so slow and boring! there is just nothing look forward too much, too much of dead weight characters that no one cares - i ended playing the original Halo again just to enjoy Masterchief being actually Masterchief..

The only way I'm ok with the whole "caught unprepared" aspect of chief fighting without armor is if they then use this as the justification for why chief starts feeling uncomfortable without it and stops taking his helmet off. TBH that would make up for a lot of the sins of s1 if they take those and use them as character development background for why chief then becomes so locked off and isolated post reach. If there's no perceivable change in his character post reach I'll loose what remaining hope I have that this show can become something decent. (I'm not a hardliner that thinks he can never take it off period as he clearly does in the books and such and does so offscreen even in the games a few times, but it's more than just a trivial aspect of the games, if you read the books it becomes ingrained in him after the fall of reach to the point he legitimately feels anxious when his helmet is off even in a peaceful setting.) Essentially have chief go through this period of emotional exploration where he starts opening up and questioning everything, then have that brutally crushed by the savagery of the covenant on reach which makes him resist ever opening up again, bringing him back in line with his main canon character.
I’ve watched 1:22 to 1:32 about 20 times now. Killer choreography and score to go with it. You can really see and feel the desperation on Reach.

Chief looks so heroic, and menacing at the same time with his helmet on. It’s a shame he’s barely wearing it in this show. The Mandalorian got it right.
I do not mind him taking it off. The only thing that bothered me were the constant cuts to the inside of the helmet during action scenes.

What bothered me from last season was they were trying to start too many storylines with so few episodes. Should have just stuck to one location when a scattering of shots to other places. Asian Forerunner pawn, okay sure. The pirates... why?? Covenent pet monkey, fire the alphabet soup drinker that sneaked that one in.
season 2 episode 1 first 15 minutes is the redemption arc I didn't know I needed.
The integration of that ending theme was BEAUTIFUL.

Elites are physically a match for something that outweighs then 3x over, do you know how insane that is? An Lite will remind a Spartan what it felt like to be a regular human if they ever tried to fight one without Mjolnir.

Already seeing Chief without his helmet lol. He was meant to be like a mystery. Even to this day people are not exactly sure what he looks like. Build up his character more first. Even Mandalorian got that right lol.
When it comes to the video games in the story of the video games he does not takeoff his helmet or armor at all, the only time we see him without his armor is I think in the second or first game
And we don’t necessarily know what he looks like without the armor we just see him getting into the armor therefore we know he wasn’t in the armor beforehand
Also in lore and books many people in the halo world know what chief looks like, because he does takeoff his helmet and also his armor when he’s knows he’s not gonna be in combat
So if this halo show just does the right thing and have master chief be without his armor helmet out of combat then it will be fine

Visually, is stunning, genuinely amazing I love the ships, I love the armour, I love the visuals and aesthetics. The story on the other hand, especially in season 1 it hurt my soul too bad. I have lost faith in this series, I can only prepare myself for the next season.

The fact that it looks so good visually is one of the key factors why this show hurts so much. Such wasted potential to produce a faithful series. They had two games(Halo Reach, Halo CE), and two books(Halo: The Fall of Reach, Halo: The Flood(Even potentially Halo: First Strike or Halo: Contact Harvest)), and yet they still went with the "alternate timeline" nonsense. It's maddening.

It doesn't matter how much money they pour into it. They were unfaithful to the shows core audiance and the true masterchief. Mister cheeks is unsatisfying compared to the real, stoic, hero that is the legendary master chief.
Its a halo masked drama that has absolutely nothing to do with the canonical halo universe. Its almost a parody.

Now as much more of a fan of Blue team I am and I know the show is about Chief and what not. But I can't help but feel like me and many other people would have jumped out their seats and screamed at the top of our lungs in excitement, "This is Noble 1." Boom Paramount subscriptions go up by at least 312%
Saving that for the show would be far better than revealing something so huge in a trailer.

@@mrpancake8889 It definitely would be, especially for the fans of the series that the show kept. But from a business perspective if they would've dropped Noble team at the end of the trailer, it would guarantee an increase in viewers by a substantial amount. Sure saving it for the actual show X amount of episodes in would do the same, but I'm pretty positive having that increase viewer base at the beginning of the season looks better on their graphs rather then halfway through the season being over. But idk I could be wrong about the whole thing

Having watched the last episode of HALO season 2 I have only ONE QUESTION. NONE OF THE WRITERS bothered to study the GAME and past DVD's storylines? I subscribed for Halo to Paramound+ I will not be staying around for Season 3.

The scene where chiefs fighting all the elites with energy swords will be the defining chief moment in the series. Theres marines present during that fight …. They’ll live to tell the tell of how one soldier took on a squadron of elite single handedly.

Looks like the space combat shot contains Halberd-class destroyers, Halcyon-class cruiser refits, Stalwart-class frigates, and a few C709 Longswords for the UNSC Navy. Looking like an SDV corvette and a CCS battlecruiser for the Covenant - there's a nice shot of the SDV later on too.
After watching episode 1 I thought I was in for a real treat… Boy was I wrong. Pray for season 2 everyone!

@@codyferrell1031You can't be that faithful to source material when you originally ignored it, and then built a bad foundation for your story to be built upon. I know it's different timeline for them to do their own story, but their story changes are what didn't work. And they are part of the characters backgrounds and motivations now.

I'm worried about Vannak. Didn't see him in the trailer. If he dies, at least make him go out delivering a bomb into a Covenant ship. Seeing John and Soren fighting side by side warms my heart. Soren could be taking the place of Johnson in the series, and I'm down for it.

There is no lore in The spartans alone, if you want to see a bunch of fases and fights go play the game, politicians and characters are essential to build an actual story.

I think that Halo: Forward Unto Dawn presents a unique atmosphere, and envisioning a series with a similar tone could add even more intrigue. In this context, even Master Chief takes on a distinctiveness that sets him apart from the traditional portrayal.
Like even Mandalorian is better master chief than master chief him self.( I know it sound weird......but you understand me right?)

HALO FUD was with the video games timeline and plot when this series feels like a prequel but after they grew up from being kidnapped.

Before writing horrible reviews for this, you should be aware that not every videogame can be adapted into a film or TV show; this is due to the games' insufficient content. Far Cry, Doom, Max Payne, NFS, Prince of Persia, Mario, Postal, Assassin's Creed, Silent Hill, Twisted Metal (series), and many more video game movies were terrible-not because the games themselves were poor (no they aren't), but rather because there wasn't much in the story.
A movie could never really capture the small-scale subjects, in-game narratives, or lore that are the center of video games.
The video game and film industries concentrate on their target audience in order to optimize revenues. Young people and halo enthusiasts will be the only segments of the audience who will find the Master Chief plot intriguing if it only focuses on eliminating the flood and destroying the Covanent. For this reason, the show's creators needed a lot of items.
Furthermore, many fans of Halo played the games entirely and never even touched the comics. John 117 appeared even more formidable in season 2 of the show than he did in the game because he was taking on a group of Covenant Fleet without any armor or cortana!
However, other companies were successful in producing television shows like HBO's The Last of Us, because the game itself felt almost exactly like a movie. This is why the most important factor is the kind of video game.
Why is Master Chief trying to disguise himself in a hoodie in public at 1:34 when the guy’s supposed to be 6’10. This season looks like it’s got a lot more action than the first but still some things got me shaking my head.
They probably showed all the action in this trailer. Dont get yoyr hopes up. The people making this dont like halo.its not for halo fans. Sadly they wont stop trashing things people love.
