The huge chrome wheels? Those look aftermarket to me, I prefer the 19" GS wheels. Also wouldn't want to be in the middle of nowhere USA roadtrip with a shredded 20" tire. I had a 2013 for a year. Had nothing but timing issues and slowed down a lot around 60k, just didn’t enjoy the car at all like everyone else has. Would never own one of these shitboxes again, doesn’t perform as advertised either.
As an owner of a 2015 Buick Regal Turbo with the Premium 1 option package, I am very pleased with everything about the car. It rides nice enough that you'll feel like you're doing 50 when your actually doing 90+ and the seats are very comfortable too. It had enough power to surprise an Audi S4 driver when I first bought it and I can brake-boost it to 2500 rpm and almost completely kill any turbo lag. If you want more power, just a simple Trifecta Tune for the engine and transmission will totally wake up the car. I've also managed 40 mpg on the highway at 60 mph. While this review doesn't exactly bash this car, I don't think it does the car justice either.

It appears GM has listed to some of the complaints. The new 2018 Regal no longer has the plastic fake engine port holes finally. The car is 300 lbs. lighter now, and the engine has more torque in AWD (295 ft.-lbs.). Should make it a little faster, and better handling. We will find out later this year and early next year if it is true.
Maddie K 3 seconds ago Well this generation GS AWD had a 3,981 curb weight. The regal gs sportback ended up being heavier at 4,270. The 3.6l V6 puts out more horsepower but less torque than the 2.0L turbo in stock form. The 2.0L turbo has tunes available that bump up the numbers quite a bit, surpassing the 3.6l in both numbers. The new gen ended up being a bust essentially, thing is an absolute pig with no ability to make faster. Best part is my 2016 Regal Turbo FWD with the LTG only weighs 3,560 after some weight reduction and with a tune it's quite quick. kma198199 actually you are dead wrong , cars from 90s were much more reliable than today's cars , todays there are a lot of cheap plastic in engine while in the past they were all metal
Considering that the old Grand National is kind of Buick's crowning achievement in the arena of performance street cars, I agree with the idea of throwing a turbo in the Regal. Yeah, Ok. So, it's a sedan but, even though sedans are for family guys and grand dads, it didn't keep US manufacturers from fitting heavy, gas hogging V8's in 'em for decades. Not only were they doing that, but the stock trim engines were embarrassingly weak considering their huge displacement, strong yet heavy iron blocks along with poor placement creating bad weight distribution. Thus, old domestic sedans generally have a well deserved reputation for being slow and lumbering yet, were generally reliable, smooth and inexpensive (compared to imports of equal class). Today, everything is about mileage. Meanwhile, ride quality and longevity seem to have taken a backseat because a generation of limp-wristed fatherless democrats don't know how to change their own oil, much less maintain a car. So, they just replace them every 4 years. So, why not just go with a turbo four banger (especially if it's already AWD)? True, domestic four cylinders have always been a joke when compared to imports (see: Brent Rau, John Shepherd, Dave Buschur, etc.) but, who cares? So long as it'll handle 15 lbs. or so of boost until the warranty expires, the people who buy new cars today would've sold it right about the time it starts to fall apart. So, yeah. Go for broke, Buick. No one cares about your brand anymore. Go out with a bang instead of a whimper like Pontiac/Saturn and the like.
+SenorSwagBumy From 1st hand experience, my 2015 Buick Regal Turbo was nearly on par with a 330 horsepower Audi S4, much to the driver's surprise! I seriously doubt that this new 2.0 turbo, with it's several mechanical improvements over the older 2.0 turbo, is down 11 horsepower from the 270 horsepower the older 2.0 was previously rated at.
unknownuser1987 I understand that newers better but still its a fwd 250 hp that just doesnt look good on paper and we know gm is capable of making some crazy as shit.
+SenorSwagBuns I was just pointing out that the car is probably underrated. But check out the Buick Avista concept. With its twin turbo V6 and RWD platform, it could be the hottest Buick since the GNX if it makes it into production!
Why does Buick not make a 2 door anymore? Their whole fleet is 4 doors. They say they are trying to attract a younger crowd....A Regal, Riviera, Grand National are 2 door cars not 4 door.

Wow... 260 hp and it takes that long to get to 60? Even at 5,000 feet, it should be faster than that. What's the curb weight on that thing, 4,000 pounds?
+powermatt idk why he got such a weird number, my base regal goes 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds, quarter mile of 15 seconds. Probably would've been a better idea to have someone else time it for him, probably added an extra second doing it himself.

needs a twin turbo.they should of stayed with the 6cyl supercharger. setup like the 01.also should have a 4cyl no turbo option and a v8 option with a ls engine and performance handling package
I own a buick not this model but the quality of car is excellent and luxuries.
You guys should do a new vs old with this car
Nice looking car,is it reliable as a Lexus per say?
No
penvon you want a GM product to be as reliable as the most reliable car ever (lexus ) , I need some of what are you smoking .
Ara J It's probably as reliable as any modern car that is maintained properly. Cars are all built to a higher standard today.
kma198199 actually you are dead wrong , cars from 90s were much more reliable than today's cars , todays there are a lot of cheap plastic in engine while in the past they were all metal
penvon
Toyota and Honda still beat everybody on reliability, but the gap has been closing.
Its: Buick Regal / Opel Insignia / Vauxhall Insignia or Holden Insignia
Why not do this review with a manual transmission?
Sounds like an understeering, turbo laggy, factory limited programmed waste of time and $46,000
Kevin G Because it is. Motor Trend ranking it in last place in a field of eight cars proves it.
idk where people got this 45k price from but its about 10k cheaper then that was then too
Considering that the old Grand National is kind of Buick's crowning achievement in the arena of performance street cars, I agree with the idea of throwing a turbo in the Regal.
The Quad 4 was a killer 4 banger back in the 80s that beat the sh!t out of JapCrap.
Only 250 hp? Ats has 271? Why not get that extra 20 hp and give it some umph.
With its twin turbo V6 and RWD platform, it could be the hottest Buick since the GNX if it makes it into production!
unknownuser1987 oh i know i live by detroit it was the first thing i saw. They could put the ct6 3.0 v6 in it along with it being rwd would be badass.
Mines is a 2013 and puts out 270hp and 295lbs of torque
It sounds like it's MOOOOOing every time it accelerates, whoa Bessie!!
Why does Buick not make a 2 door anymore? Their whole fleet is 4 doors. They say they are trying to attract a younger crowd....A Regal, Riviera, Grand National are 2 door cars not 4 door.
wonder if there gonna make a hotter version gnX MAYBE
Is a really nice car with them rims only and it is fast 💨 I just crash mine for racing n trying to dodge a pit hole thankfully i didn’t damage the body just lost them same exact rims but the car is fast and satisfying just a lil small in the inside but is a good sports car facts
My buick verano turbo you reviewed ran 0-60 in 6.97 seconds. At sea level :/ idk I’d expect more from the regal. Just weird too me.
This guy drives like shit, though
Same LTG twin scroll turbo in the ATS and Camaro...
Good points Roman
Indeed, who would have thought that Buick would become so vital to GM's future on the international stage?
The car is dated! It's so....three years ago!
The U.S. Should put some RHD vehicles and expand their market.
man hear all that creaking when he went around the track I just think in a few years the interior will start to fall apart. I wish I could like gm products but come on a brand new car and I hear creaking from the interior
pmsl this is just a rebadged Vauxhall Insignia which has been around in Europe for at least 7 years, some of the parts have just been 'blinged' up for the US market
I think the Regal GS is an awesome car, but the $46,000 price tag -- I'd go with another Buick, the Lacrosse.
Where's the 300S / Toyota mash up? You guys teased that it would be released last Saturday......
That's what I'm looking for.
Yes, this Saturday but since you asked so nicely...Here you go: th-cam.com/video/syByQeOTyVo/w-d-xo.html
Awesome! Thanks.
This guy can't drive for beans.
X4V13R beans lol
Nice Opel Insignia
Needs more PAH
Ad a second turbo maybe?
They should have used the tt v6 from the ctsv. 8.6 0-60 is awful. Its slower than an expedition lol. Still a very cool looking car though.
How about adding a v6,no replacement for cubic inchs!!!
Love this car but the 7 second range is what a Camry hybrid can do... Granted it's much better looking. Buick may just need to shave some weight and/or do something with the engine
Slow!? I drive the european version Opel Insignia 2.0T 4x4 250HP and the top speed Stock is 264km/h which is 165mph messured with GPS...if you only look for 0-60 times and not the overall performance don't test any cars in the future!
I knew that 0-60 times was slow and I guess it’s because this 15 model only 250hp. My moms 2012 model I bought from her has 270 or 275hp and would likely get decently better times.
0:38 the intro is a bit different
Should have gotten the manual to review
