Love it!!! I just heard this song for the first time a couple days ago when my husband played it for me. I couldn't believe my ears!! I was a rocker in the 80s listening to everything from Whitesnake, AcDc, Aerosmith, Def Leppard and the list goes on and on... However, my life went in another direction after graduation class of 90' I just can't believe all these years and I'm just learning of this song!!
I remember when this song hit MTV, these guys were so awesome now no one from my generation even remembers hardline. I also remember the 70's version of this song. But Hardline has the best version. There was a also a band called Brunette that experimented with this classic, but did not pull it off very well.
Brunette was actually the original name of the band that eventually became Hardline. Lead singer was the same. They became Hardline after the guitar player from Journey (Neil Schon) signed on. Oh and I agree this is the best version of the song.
Bon Jovi WISHED they had a song THIS good in arena rock anthem perfection...Btw, in SF Bay Area, where I'm from, like these BAD BOYS are, this track rocked the early 90's air waves...Rwmbwe going WTF? first time I heard it blasting out of me car,s speakers...They nailed it...
@@petershort1932 Don't take anything away from Bon Jovi. They wrote and played a lot of excellent rock tunes in the late '80s and early '90s. Yes, this version of 'Hot Cherie' is great. And it was kind of a hit at the time and played a lot on rock radio.
This shit would've been huge had it come out in 1986-87 but unfortunately by the time this band formed glam metal, hard rock and arena rock were on the way out with grunge music coming to prominence. I can think of several bands that would've been right up there with the best had they started 4-6 years sooner.
The first time I heard this, I assumed this was Bon Jovi. Either way, the fact that a mostly-forgotten moderate 1983 hit got a Metal cover in 1992 is fucking awesome.
Exactly right. This song was the last great single of the hair band era, struggling to breathe under the weight of the depressing and un-melodic thuds of the most horrific brand of rock music ever created, grunge. Who in their right mind would listen to this, then listen to Screaming Trees, and then say, "Yeah, gimme some more Screaming Trees." Who, I ask you, who???? Tards!
Tards exactly. I don't know why anyone would listen to screaming trees period. The record companies pushed grunge on us. Notice how it is dead now, and even those bands still around dont make the same kind of music they did in the 90s, they either went acousitc or soft rock.
That's an easy answer, anyone who wants depth and integrity in their music. Something A little bit deeper than standard misogynistic trash. Mark lanegan is a legend... People remember the screaming trees 25 years later... anyone Remember Hardline then or even now?
I haven't heard this song in years. I remember living in Los Angeles in the early '90's and 100.3 Pirate Radio played this song constantly. In '92 they were competing against 105.5 KNAC. Pirate Radio was known as "Real Rock For All Of Southern California". The next year Pirate Radio Died :( THIS SONG REALLY ROCKS!!!
I was a junior high school student and I remember being obsessed with Pirate Radio. I'd go home and listen to it after school. I was so sad when it went off the air. Airheads reminds me of that, with Brendon Frazier and Adam Sandler.
This song is a cover of a cover. The original was from Streetheart, a canadian band in 1980 and was way different. Then in 1982 Danny Spannos made it a little more like this one here from Hardline. But the Hardline version is the heavier (and the best in my opinion).
I heard this song on the radio back when it was new. I thought they said Shereen instead of Cherie. Shereen was the name of my high school crush back then. We eventually hooked up 10 years later. Then 2 years into our relationship... she cheated on me... with my own father! Just heard this song on the new episode of The Peacemaker that dropped today... Feb. 10th, 2022. Haven't listened to this song in 25 years. This takes me back to a different time.
Its not that they did mostly covers. Its that once Neal and Deen left the band, the main songwriters were gone, so they had to have outside writers help them with songs. To my knowledge, and yes, I am very familiar with their other albums, this is the only actual COVER they do.
Ok, so I counted 3 covers...all well and good and its not like they are the only artist who relied on some covers to provide decent material, but to be fair, you are acting as if ALL their songs are covers and they're not. That's really the only point I was trying to make.
No, this version is considered the best. It's perfect for '80s rock radio. If you don't like a polished production, then that's your choice. Scorpions is also great.

Same for me too ! Wish I could go back.
Well this version wasn't released until 1992, so you must have been burnt out.
I saw these guys hen the opened up for Van Halen in the early 90's at the Palace of Auburn Hills. been hooked ever since.
Chris C. I was at that show and I have been rockin this ever since as well! Peace

The original was done by Danny Spanos in 1983.
@@bobthebear1246 it’s a Streetheart song covered by Spanos
NEAL SCHON IS A GREAT GUITAR PLAYER!!!!!!!!
You just noticed?? He used to play with Santana in the early '70s before forming Journey with Gregg Rolie !! lol ;)
Z
Love the lead singer, he also sings for Crush 40

Heard this on Hair Nation, Sick song.
This shit should have been HUGE!

This song was written about Cherie Currie of the Runaways!
This song just hits a man the way it should I guess!
Draven1303 song hits girls the way it should. My fiancé changes it to Marie for me haha
It is a great song especially to associate with a badass woman it just one of those songs that takes you back and ten some 👍

Funny, mine too and right??

Another one that is Bon Jovi-like is 'Sweetheart' from Franke & the Knockouts.
@@Project_Paladin. FYI. Drummer from Bon Jovi was in Frankie and the Knockouts.
Rock and roll the way it was meant to be

80s rock was about living it up and having fun. Then the 90s hit and the grungies are bitching, moaning, and crying about being fucking rock stars.
smitchix1 Truly a lol moment, Thank you! lol

80s = best fucking period ever for rock/metal
90s=pure dog shit

one of the biggest songs ever!!!
Good song :)
Was born July 92, right around when this came out.

@@joshyoung4251 She loves the band and she gets questioned why about it.
I almost forgot to listen to this today
Love this rola .
This guy does the singing for axel rudi pell. Amazing rock voice
He’s also the singer for Crush 40. Sonic fans know this guy’s voice very well
2021
I can imagine the Moon Goats performing this with Luna substituting "Sammie" in place of "Cherie" to reference her bandmate and girlfriend.
Rock on!
What's crackin my dude?
Love this song. Better than the original
they sound alot like the Scorpions. They are really good!
both bands are great!!
good melody!!
This song is gonna be in Peacemaker Ep.7

When a single guitar solo is not enough.

This version is a remake. Great song, though!
love the song ty
It's a sleeper song hard to find but put it in your favs
Neal Schon 😀
2023 jim viera on listening baby
Schon phoned this in to a point where even Bad English could claim better from him.
Its not that they did mostly covers. Its that once Neal and Deen left the band, the main songwriters were gone, so they had to have outside writers help them with songs. To my knowledge, and yes, I am very familiar with their other albums, this is the only actual COVER they do.

@KristyDawnInkings Hahaha, nice!
Isn’t this a remake?
Who sang this originally ?
100th comment.
Well asuming that this band mostly did were cover that's pretty much a posibility for most people here.
Ok, so I counted 3 covers...all well and good and its not like they are the only artist who relied on some covers to provide decent material, but to be fair, you are acting as if ALL their songs are covers and they're not. That's really the only point I was trying to make.
You asked for ratings.... Sorry, but please check lyrics at 3:30. Otherwise, awesome !!
Are nuts listen to canadian band sweetheart song hot charades!!! U ripped them off trust me
Which band owns this song? The band Brunette or Hardline? I'm pretty sure it's Brunette, Both versions are amazing
Streetheart owns it. This is a cover.
It's spelled Sherry.
Does ANYBODY realize that this is NOT the original version?
2020
Omg I'm sooo pissed how didnt anyone notice this
who's playing guitar?
Neil Schon
Think I was 18...legal lol
We've a real JoJo here
I know the girl the song was about.
The best song that Neil Schon ever wrote! After Journey
+Craig Hacker not only that but johnny's voice kicks ass
This is good but I like Rhythm from a Red Car better :)
Neil Schon did not write this. This song was written in '82 and originally done by Danny Spanos with Carmine Appice and Rick Derringer.
danny spanos did the best version 1983. my opinion.
Lost classic
Axel rudu
I thort that was Bon Jovi...
most unrated song :(
Danny I Spanos version is much better than this whiney wannabe. Also, they do not sound like the Scorpions.
No, this version is considered the best. It's perfect for '80s rock radio. If you don't like a polished production, then that's your choice. Scorpions is also great.
