I think that's a boarding house. Some boarding house have communal kitchen for certain number of tenants. Most boarding houses don't allow cooking though. I was surprised this particular house allow cooking.

Dustin, dry fish is tasty if wash properly with lime or lemon juice. The way it's prepared back in South America, first the salt in it have to boil off in hot steaming water 1to 2times, this is to take most of the salt out then prepare the same way as seen in this video with all the seasons/ herbs/ tomatoes, stir and fry, goes well with bread or rice, trust me, you will like it if its done this way.
Texas has just seen its first snow since 1984 from what I was told. Only 4 inches of snow but enough to freeze 4 cases of bottled water in back of my truck. Also a bird landed on top of a fence post I just installed and it eroded to death. We are on our third day of power outage. I'm able to get power about two hours each day for two days now. I am hoping my dinner is cooked before it shuts off again. Nights have been cold and slept in my old army sleeping bag. Not the worst snow I've encountered which are patroling waist deep mountains in Albania hours at a time with limited snow gear. With that squash dish it would taste better if it was cooked much longer maybe 2 hours with maybe a few pieces of pork. If not pork eat with some shrimp paste and rice.
When they stayed together they worked and stayed at the same place so they didn't rent. But there are many places like this around, if you ask around once you get here there will be many options, this one was near the St Joseph church in Mandaue, thanks max take care too!
My wife is a good cook I always miss the taste of my wife's home made foods. Even my kids prefer to eat my wifes cooking than somebody's.. But it doesnt mean if your wife dont know how to cook or not good at it she's not a good wife anymore. Maybe she's better on other things. But what is important is you love each other.
