Hi Dean am loving your tools videos specially as I'm like a lot a tool freak lol, I admired your knife & scrapper so much I had to get myself 1, there very strong and robust for sure. Stay safe!
Was it really paint or body filler? You can't imagine why anyone would sand wet paint, the sanding disc would fill up and make a right town-halls of the surface.
I’ve got this very machine when I brought it it was about only option for cordless from Makita. It’s a fairly cheap machine and yet works well and I abuse mine often on site yet it still goes well. That was a real special trick to kill it like that
Hi Dean, another great video, thank your for your great content. I run Bosch tools and have multiple sanders, Have had a few of them over twenty years old now. I strip and clean them inside periodically. Haven't had to replace anything even bearings to them yet. Only the velcro pads. There are some good Chinese pads out there now and they work well. I now run interface pads on them and it saves your sander pad from going bad.
I bought a cheap 40eur orbital sander just for finish a pair of dry wall patches 😂, the instructions says DO NOT USE FOR DRYWALL OR PLASTER. Still working fine tho
could be, classic bondo has this blue colored hardener that looks a lot like it, also seemed to brittle for paint. But if it is, there is a setup time of max 30min, when it"s a bit warm it already powders in 10min. Which makes the whole thing extra stupid.
If you ever noticed you made an oopsie and the paint you thought was dry was still wet, is there any good tips on cleaning the sander before the paint dries?
@@deandohertygreaser hi nope that’s fine it will start oscillating as some as it touches the work it just vibrates head know longer spins ? An it’s been to makita they say it’s fine it’s a 2021. Hears the kick I use it up side down it’s fine 😂😂😂🤣
My Dear Brother Dean, what could you use to remove that paint in the velcro section without melting the plastics ? Laquer Thinner, Paint Thinner, Acetone, Isopropyl Alcohol, Goo Gone or ?
Sanding is maybe also not the correct definition. Sanderpaper will gum up within seconds and be useless. Then you are just rubbing wet paint against other wet paint 😁. The substance seemed pretty brittle and hard, so i'm not even sure if it was paint. Most latex based paint will stay a bit flexable.
I wish you were in Australia.lol. Places that repair are few and usually a minimum $80aud charge. That's why everyone throws away instead of repairing. Major waste
Ive bought one of these and its been rubbish since day 1, soon as you put any pressure on it it stops spinning doesnt matter what speed your on. Zero power 😅
I dont get why people would need a "cordless" sander, a corded one is more powerful, lighter, doesnt run out of battery and you have to hook it on a vacuum anyways if youre doing any serious sanding.
The velcro is gone, they heat up and melt due to the friction, dont ask me how I know. I use orbital sanders for drywall. The trick is to use an interface pad so you wont ruin the original velcro.
@@zaxmaxlaxI consider the velcro pad a consumable part, so to me there's no point in buying a Sander that doesn't have replacement pads available. You can get the Amazon generic ones but they are crap quality
Amazing that you only charge a tenner to fix that... Repairing electronic stuff for a living is not a lucrative buisness to be in at all... I used to repair music equipment fulltime when I was living in London, At least 1/3 the stuff I repaired I lost money on.. Yokes only worth 200 quid, I can fix it but its a spare part and 3 hours work.. Lad doesnt want to pay.. Im already 2 hours in trying to find the problem... Or another common one was, I tried my best but couldnt fix it.. Ive spent 6 hours on it.. I cant charge him full whack for somthing thats arriving back in the same state it left... The variables used to do my head in.. In the end I got out of it..
There are people that don't deserve power tools. 😂😂
You cant fix stupidity🙄
Some people should not own a Hammer
Brings back many memories i used to work on the production line building this exact model.

Well done Doc another successful diagnosis.

Looks like body filler to me.
Nice repair Dean
The finish on that paint must have been mint
I must say Dean you are the most cheapest repair shop I reckon in the world nevermind Ireland
Not me, my boss. I do these repairs for a local hardware shop. And the big boss man likes to take care of his customers

A great little tool- great build quality.

The word 'ijeet' springs to mind relating to the owner on this one!
The phrase 'It's not rocket science' also! Dear, oh dear.
Would putting the disk with hooks into an ultrasonic cleaner be enough to break up the paint with out damaging the Velcro hooks?
Hopefully the owner will watch this .He might be a little embarrassed Thanks Dean
People who are in construction trade should watch your videos so atleast they know what is wrong with thier tool when there is something.
DB01? You sure that’s not a Makita but an early Aston Martin? Haha.

My stupid head used my Miele C3 for vacuuming plaster dust....
Luckily these Miele can be taken apart, cleaned and fixed.
Looks like it could be fiberglass not paint???
Wonder what that dust bag looks like!🫣
My guess as others have said, bondo.

I reckon that's body filler rather than paint.

Same as Dean did, few screws and give it a clean out. You won't get it clean without taking it apart and they really aren't hard to put back together.
I have one of these sanders it’s stopped oscillating but still vibrates any ideas
the bearing on the base has jammed up

Hello everyone 👋 Does anyone know the name of that website where you can buy the Makita parts ? Cheers
Just search for the part number and then google it. There are multiple suppliers depends on your country.
Miles tools have lots of diagrams for various brands, just Google "Miles tools"

A wire brush

More than likely the owner gave the sander to the apprentice !
Hey Dean kan je een makita radio maken want ik heb ook een kapotte makita radio helaas 😢
What's the problem ? There is not a whole lot you can repair on Makita radio's, it's mostly broken circuit boards ...
If stupidity was a disease
Anyone know why these arent made in the uk anymore? The china ones are a different quality and colour of plastic.
price? people want price( as cheap as posible) so lots of manufactury goes where chiepest to make- china
Price? 😂😂😂😂😂
Possibly price… but strange when it was made in the uk but no longer isnt.
Who the hell sands wet paint 😮 jesusss
The owner of that sander obviously.

I'd be to ashamed to bring it to the repairshop!
I think that velcro is a nylon based plastic. Maybe a soak in Acetone is the answer?
The customer can do that 😂
