    My new puppy just did her first perfect lie down on command today! I have also taught her sit, come, wait for her food, stay near the house, and a few other things. I have taught her not to bite or jump too. I love this channel and I have used a lot of the training methods in these videos to train my two dogs!

    In my opinion, this is a vital skill for any puppy or dog to have. Not only is it for safety (stop them from eating things, or chasing things), but it also helps to build impulse control. And it's so versatile, to help with many different behavioral issues. ❤️💕

    • @alanlee67

      AssaultedPeanutt zak is a realtor...not a dog behaviorist. His specialty is selling you something. He's selling you this "picture" repackaged over and over. Don't get me wrong, I think he's super entertaining and I watch him like I watch keeping up with the khardashians but I'm not going to him for dog training advice. That's potentially dangerous

I have owned a 3 1/2 month old black labrador/Newfoundland for just a month now and I have already trained this little guy (Cooper) to sit, stay, wait for his food and come by watching your videos. I have never watch videos that were so self-explanatory and easy to follow! I was able to housebreak Cooper in eight days! I don’t know if it’s the breed and/or my persistence and patience but it was accomplished! Thank you..thank you..thank you Zak for everything! I’ll look forward to watching many more of your videos!

    • @airyrelic43
      @airyrelic43 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I agree with the first response. It’s easier for us to train our puppy once she’s exercised as she calms down considerably. If we try and train her before exercise she doesn’t focus well.

    I’ve been watching dog training videos for the last few days and something about the way you teach makes it very enjoyable to watch and want to learn. (Apparently for both me and the dog you are training, lol.) Very glad I happened to click on this. I am now excited to teach my dog new tricks and I look forward to watching your other videos. 😃

    I have a 4 month old puppy that we just got almost 2 weeks ago (shorkie) and we are working on look at me and sit, we just started a few days ago since we just got housebreaking 100% and are only doing the commands inside a controlled environment for now because he is easily distracted. His progress is amazing thus far with these tips.

    What a great video! You are really down to earth and not pretentious at all. I really appreciated your presentation. I just got an 8 week old puppy. So far he's done pretty good with "sit" and "come". We're about to try "stay". Thank you for your time and effort in showing us how to do this. :)

      @@joaquincerrato5725 Hi! well i started training my puppy at 8 weeks old, 3 sessions a day of 30 min, plus playing time, the treats i have are quite big so i just tear them into pieces, and i give him just little bits, i started teaching him to sit and shake, took him 2 days, and now that he is 12 weeks he doesn’t need the treats anymore, and im teaching him to stay, especially cause he wants to chase our 3 year old cat everywhere 🤪. And its working really well

      First make sure he can obey the sit command very well. Then just keep trying. Remember, these dogs are probably pre-trained. I’m teaching my pup to sit for 3 weeks now and we make slow progress. Just teach ur dog everyday for around 10 minutes per session so it remains fun to do for your dog.

      I never thought I would use a shock collar but finally did so when I adopted our beautiful and loving Golden at the age of 2. The collar was so very effective. Ranger finally developed the self control to show his best self. It did not take long that I no longer turned on the collar then faded out the collar. It was so rewarding to see how proud Ranger was of himself!

    if you're open to some friendly constructive criticism from a fellow dog trainer
    ...watch this video and maybe a few others of yours and notice all the spastic handling, touching and movements you do with dogs, especially puppies? thats why this puppy kept going after your hands and getting riled up and couldn't sit still and was mouthing, etc while you were talking to the camera, you were wildly and randomly (from the dog's perspective) touching, reaching and flailing your hands around which is overstimulating, agitating, and cause them to start tracking your hands with their eyes and eventualy mouth...at 1:07 he literally BITES you, and for most of this video he is behaving pretty badly because he's gotten so riled up. You're a great trainer and I REALLY appreciate the big presence you have onine to combat all the cesar-stuff, but after watching several dozen of your videos, I wuld say this is a consistant theme that is SO distracting and it makes me cringe. If you're interested, maybe practice sitting STILL, not handling and petting so much, and being mindful of what the dog is doing...laughing and saying "owe!" and then continuing to pet and work with a puppy and rile it up flailing hands around its face is a rookie move that OWNERS make...not something a dog trainer should be doing. this puppy needs to learn to NOT mouth and bite people, not be practicing it. just suggestions, hopefully youll actually read this! thanks!

      Factivist I think you’re right. It’s just that so many of these young people who do TH-cam videos are hyper and use so many cameras and “jump cuts” to keep our easily distracted population engaged, but it’s not effective for dog training.
