    #1 on play side should run dig at the toes of the safety. Forget presnap yardage thoughts. Square it where aligns, now he has to make a decision. Backside 2 run deep curl over center. This is better vs 2 than 4

    Great complement to 4 verticals. In a Covid year, I couldn’t get to this concept but I need to get a deep dig going on 3rd down. I like it better with the RB on an arrow/shoot route or 5 yard flat route out of the backfield. That route seems to really grab and widen the OLB.
    I love it out of trips with the juke by #3. You can also run the deep dig to the single and same route by the RB. Keep up the good work ✊🤜

    Just a couple observations and opinions coach. I have always preferred a levels concept to a dagger concept when throwing the ball. I understand they are different but I think they are both really similar and do the same job in an offense. You mention the speed in which the play develops as an issue especially at the high school level. A 3 X 1 set with the H running that shallow cross speeds up the play a little bit. If you still want that cross coming in from the opposite side of the dig have the TE stay in tight and run the cross with him. I think those are both faster play designs than having the Y carry out the shallow cross all the way across the field. You can even swap the H and the Ys routes in the 3 x 1 version and have the go route, which is more of a clear, ran right up the hashes at the safety and then have your levels concept coming across the field with your Y and Z. I like that idea a lot.

    I liked the video from the QB School about the Dagger concept and want to try to bring it into our playbook... but we are an adult amateur team in germany and I want to know if you think that we can shorten the route and run the In route shorter that 14 yards... with a cut closer to 7-8 ... maybe 9 yards deep.

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure about 9, you won’t get a great hi low on the mike

      @@CoachMac I know, but I try to make it easier for my team... a less good read might make up for an easier overall concept... I still think abou tif it is viable anyway. German football is different. ;)

    What made you stop using the dagger coach?? Did defenses get faster or more advanced? Great video.

    Coach shouldnt that #2 receiver be on the line play side to give him that two yard head start to clear it for the dagger concept?

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can do that, as long as you don’t build tendencies. Should be able to clear out with normal splits

  • @antoinegoins

    Running shallow concept helps with the slow wrs just put the deep dig in the slot... And the hb to the opposite flats of the shallow route somebody gotta be open let the short quick wr run the shallow and the slow possession slot wr run the dig.

  • @Anthony31323
    @Anthony31323 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey coach, if you run this out of 2x2 vs 3x1 seems like the progression might changes from dagger to shallow to its opposite. 1.) Is that correct? And 2.) if so, is that something the QB has to just memorize?

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We try not to change progressions if possible. In 3x1 if you are looking to get #3 on choice route you might tag his position to alert QB he is first progression
