Toni definitely going through depression and it shows she looks so sad and hurt she’s been carrying so much from being the oldest, the break out star, the guilt put on her for not leaving her sisters, never getting the chance to fully enjoy the fruits of her labor without feeling guilty and she holds that in ! Then dealing with lupus and you banking on dying before anyone else and your sister dies unexpectedly! And as for Trina they stated that she doesn’t like to be touched when she’s emotional that’s one of her boundaries she don’t want anyone touching her Tamar asked her can she hug her and she said no and they explained to spirit she doesn’t like being touched

I think other than being the oldest and the star Toni deals with lupus so she tries to remain calm even if it’s eating her from the inside! Her getting more sad = weakens her immune system + her body is already eating itself because of lupus
Toni never shows anything because she’s afraid of what people would say about her. That’s why she didn’t want to do the show in the first place. Toni’s life is not spectacular, she hangs out with Tamar, because secretly she wanted to be as free spirited as her younger sister. That whole Birdman thing was a storyline, so Toni can have her spectacular story too. Nobody ever saw pictures of them together, besides when the show was airing. That’s also her depression, always have to be the one who everybody looks up to and that’s where the Mom comes in. Toni was raised to perfect, to lead the others, eventhough they’re grown ups, she still THINKS she has to be the example. She needs to find what makes her happy, besides music and if that means not seeing or speaking to her siblings often , then that’s what she gots to do.
I really wish they'd worked on their familial issues before doing this show as a tribute to Traci. What I see and what is triggering to me is the superficial tolerance that they have for each other.
