I'd replace whatever brain on the big hexapod with an arduino and find code for a generic hexapod (though if you want perfect walking you can figure out the IK). The perfboard wiring is simple (avoid breadboard since it's .5A max): of the three wires of each leg, one goes to positive battery (all of the leg positives in parallel), one wire to ground, and one wire to any digi output pin on an arduino. Choose an arduino with enough pins for each servo, receiver, and whatever else. I built a quadruped I found online called Tote which has 12 9g servos and totaled ~$50

The little spider sounds like it's tap dancing. Those seem so expensive for what they are.
Those servos are not cheap. When you need 12+ servos and hardware and controller chip, I am surprised about how much they do not cost.
Peter has such a gentle nature about his builds!
