Your wife is correct. When I was in first grade, I had a White friend. She was sweet and we played together well. One day she came to me and said “ My Daddy told me not to play with kids like you” ( meaning Black kids).
I didn’t even understand what she meant. But, I told my older siblings and they explained it. My own parents had not taught me anything about race differences.

While he assuages her? That was retaliation not rebuke. The fact that he wasn’t visibly heightened was indicative of not indicative of calm. What makes him an authority at pointing out specks while the beam is quite evident in his eye? What makes him so honorable as he collaboratively criticizes Joe Rogan’s egregious humor describing other people in that manner? Joe described their show as “a rabies infested henhouse!” Are the animals? What does that make him?
These are people, differ with their opinions but why the defense mechanisms? So now people only advocate for themselves by belittling others?!?! The irony.

@@KM-qy5vt Why defend her actions in this? She is on her own show in a position of power. Inviting a guest and telling them topics you want to speak on then railroading them down a different path is unkind. What are the motives behind doing that? If she read his book two times she already knows his opinions. If I was in a similar position as him having my words and character be publicly challenged I don't know that I would know how to defuse it. It would have been interesting to understand why the refocus on his character occurred. Maybe she read the book twice and invited him on because what his books said held something that causes an uncomfortable shifted her world view. Maybe we were witnessing her trying to glue her world view back together? Edit.... I saw other comments about her family's history. Maybe she is carrying guilt and his book shook her because it caused her to think her actions based on guilt are misplaced? I am not her so I can't say for sure but there was more going on here than what she shared with the viewers. It can be very painful when you think your view is solid and then something happens to create cracks.

26 years ago I was living in Costa Rica. I used to read articles written by Rigoberto Stewart, a Costa Rican economist. I became a fan and I spoke about him often with my wife. One day, I went to one of his conferences and I got to speak to him. I was thrilled and I came back with the story to my wife. She said she wanted to know what he looked like and I showed her his picture in the newspaper. She said: "He is black. You never mentioned he is black." My answer made her laugh: "He is an economist!" Of course, I noticed he was black, but it was of little importance to me, so I left it out. On the contrary, when he published a book advocating for increased autonomy for Limon, an area of Costa Rica where black costaricans form the majority of the population, I added to my story that he was a Black economist because it was relevant for the story. This is what I understand as color-blind. Of course, I support your solution to end racism, to treat each individual as an individual.

Her school tried to, basically, turn her into a white race hater. It took me, her Latina mom, to explain her things better so she woukd not get dragged into the division and hate. Little kids start bullying other kids based on race early as they see other kids do it or they learned it directly from their parents. So just because she got to live in ignorance doesnt mean other kids had that opportunity. Like major LMAO. Why do you think schools have to discuss it early on in the first place? Also its so weird how you guys get upset over history being taught like as if it’s against “your” team or something.
