one of my first hockey cads i ever got was of Terry O'Reilly in 1972-73, been a big fan ever since, Great Show Chris, you were one of my favorites as well, love the way you guys played.
I love the smiles on their faces when they come back from the fight clip. Terry is smirking like "oh ya, I got you" and Knuckles is smirking like "damn, he did get me on that one" love both giys and total respect for how they played. Two head strong and stand up guys. 👍👍
I remember seeing Terry jump over the boards and run up a dozen rows to beat the crap out of a fan. A few other players were right behind him!...I think it was in NY.
Awesome stuff! Been waiting for part 2 for a while!!! Terry is my favorite all time Bruin fighter and always rooted for you Chris being a hometown Boston hockey boy myself!!! Love the channel Knucks!
I grew up as a Montreal Canadiens fan as a kid, because my dad loved watching them. So I loved watching Chris Nilan play. I grew up in Toronto, but I became a big fan of Terry ever since the first time I saw him. I was 11 years old when I went to my first ever Toronto Maple Leaf practice back in 1972, and they were playing the Bruins that night. We saw the Bruins practice first and all of us kids were screaming at the played for autographs. Of course Bobby Orr was getting all of the attention and I saw this young rookie standing by the boards, so I smiled at him and waved and he looked at me and picked up a puck and threw it over the boards to me. I was so excited and I asked him what his name was and he said “Terry O’Reilly”. I then started watching him over the years and I loved how he stood up to the Flyers back then, especially Dave Shultz, who I hated the most because of his bully act. Terry turned out to be a great guy to follow because not only was he tough, but he was also the hardest working guy in the ice. Thanks for the pick Terry…I wish I still had it! I’m glad I got to see this interview….thanks Chris!
I've been a Bruins fan my whole life and I hated O'Reilly. We had goons like O'Reilly, Wensink and Jonathan. Slow, lousy skaters who could only hit and fight. Montreal hadskaters, play makers and scorers that's why in the late 70's we couldn't beat them. If O'Reilly couldn't fight and didn't have that last name in Boston he would have been a career AHL player.
@karlschneider9479 If it wasn't for some dynasty teams in Montreal, the Bruins would have had FOUR more Cups, and the only team that could handle the Flyers Goons in 1973/74 Cup were the Bruins but )ost in 6 gms. That's FIVE in the 70's. They lost twice to NYI in the early 80's. O'Reilly led the Bruins in 1977/78 with 90 pts. And.... OMG, PIMS!!!! BTW, the only 2 other Bruins have done that one was Bobby Orr. "Goon"?.... You're a fool. You don't know what you're talking about. In fact, you sound so foolish I think you're a troll.
@@karlschneider9479 SO, the Bruins weren't good enough to win in 1978/79 against Montreal???? Montreal guys even admit they should have probably lost. O'Reilly couldn't fight???? You must be another fight aficionado who because O'Reilly had terrible balance and was all over the place thought he couldn't fight. Ya' know when you hate on someone you're going find yourself knocking that person all the time. I guess that's a short coming. If you're a Bruins fan, you wasted Two and half hours every few nights in the winter all of those years watching them because you do not know what you are talking about.
In the 70's between periods on Hockey in Canada they had a skills competition every year. One year,(1977-78?) Lafleur came in first. Guess who the runner up was????...... Terry O'Reilly. He's a goon who can't fight though.....
I grew up an Islander Fan in the 70's - 80s... I saw O'Reilly with the Bruins many times.... He was a great team leader, and came to play every night... Any team would have loved to have him on their roster...
Terrific stuff, thanks Chris. It's funny, the story about Esposito telling young O'Reilly to slow down in practice vs. Nilan hammering Richer for dogging it. Early ''70s Boston could have been a dynasty if they'd stayed hungry like the Habs did, they had all the talent in the world.
What I love about Hockey players is their respect for each other… or lack of. I loved Terry and hated Chris way back then but I love and respect you respect you both. Keep doing what you are doing Chris, I look forward to every one of your podcasts.❤️
Awesome job Chris! Your a good man. Terry was an all time favorite player of mine. The Taz and Turk conflict details 😂. Glad to hear you guys are active alumni!
A great interview, the Brett Hull story is hilarious! Both of you were warriors. Thank you! My question is to Taz. What is your favorite accomplishment? I love you both!
Great interview Mr Nilan much respect something about your podcast that calms me down. That is the most i ever heard you talk about him really neat fuckin cool.
Would love to see you interview Behn Wilson - another upper echelon heavyweight of your era. Very seldom hear any info about what he’s up to. Really enjoy the podcast.
Chris, Tim love the the podcasts they are excellent. I could watch them all day long as I relate to all of it having grown up in Montreal and being in age group that gets the guests that are part of the podcasts. It was a great era for sports in Montreal.. I wish that there was the ability to make these "call in " types of shows. On another note, Chris, my dad used to coach baseball here in LaSalle, Quebec. He did not coach me but coached my younger brother and they had regular exchanges with the kids from the Parkway association in West Roxbury. Peter Shea was the guy from West Roxbury that was the contact and the LaSalle kids would go there for a weekend and the West Roxbury kids would come to Lasalle for a weekend in the summer. This was back in the early 80's. Just wanted to share that. Chris do you remember Peter Shea?
Terry, believe me when I tell you if you asked Bruins fans from back in your era who did you like better as a player, person, have your back in a fight, its you Terry O'Reilly, hands down!
Awesome interview! Keep up the good work guys. Still hope that you can get the Hammer on a show soon. Him an O'Reilly the top heavyweights back in the day. 👊
Stan Jonathan Brad Maxwell Glen Cochrane Jack Carlson Nick Fotiu Behn Wilson ** Paul Holmgren Jimmy Mann Randy Holt Bob Nystrom ………. Let’s get these guys on while we still have them… there is nothing better than Old School stories, on ice dialogue, old school mind set of the times is Invaluable …. Nice to see Terry Oreilly.when he played i was a habs fan did not like him BUT i sure would have liked habs having Oreilly in mtl :) great hockey player. dedicated to his game for sure.
I don’t really watch hockey anymore. I was a big fan during the 70s and 80s. I lived about a mile from the Philadelphia Spectrum and was a big Flyers fan. I now get my hockey fix on you tube.
Thanks for the interview Chris. I had a 81-82 year book when I was a kid. I had O’rielly’s autograph and a bunch of others as well. That was along time ago and it got lost in the shuffle of life. I just bought another 81-82 year book on e-bay. I live in Florida now, but I would love to get O’rielly’a autograph again. I happened to be walking the hall in the garden and he got 5 for fighting or something like that and went to the dressing room because it was close to the end of the second period. I was like a 11 at the time. I was like O’rielly can I have your autograph? Dude it was like striking gold. Anyone have any idea’s of how I can get his autograph again? I’d mail it to him with some money for return postage or something. Dude I’d give him a little bonus just to sign the picture for me again. 😂 true story I played right wing when I was kid and always looked up to Terry.

I see Terry and his lady on the Salisbury Beach trek on weekends. He's looking good! And their dogs are precious!
Guys with heart, like these two, are what's lacking in today's game IMO.
That’s because feminists and Lefties in a North America have slowly ruined masculinity and natural male roles. Facts! Look around at men today.

Terry and Chris ..... Wow. What a awesome interview...........Terry was MR.Boston Bruin.
O’Reilly and Nilan together on the B’s? Unstoppable! Two absolute legends!!!
Knuckles is fantastic! Love the stories & the guests. Keep going.
Chris, you should be responding to the comments. You will connect and build your audience

After every pre-game warm-ups, before he went back in the locker room, Taz would skate around the Bruins end and toss the pucks to the fans.
Terry has a great sense of humour.
O’Reilly is the man. And I’m an old time Flyers fan.
O'Reilly the big Irishman was always true to the "Black & Gold"

Great stuff Chris keep it up. Terry great Oshawa General. Go Gens.
Great episode. Terry seems like a man of integrity. Hope there is a number 3!
Knucks I could listen all day. great human.
Terry O'Reilly is an Immortal Boston Legend..and a heck of a good guy
just discovered this podcast , cant get enough of it, great job chris !

Old time tough guys. They are the best! Both have big hearts.
Knuck is still a teenager, never gets old in spirit and personality! Love the Boston accent ( I'm from Beantown).
Nobody from here calls it Beantown

Good job guys!! Waiting on pt. 3
Yes!!! Part 2!!!!
Really enjoyed this, thanks!
Really interesting stuff. I’m not a die hard sportsfan, but hockey players are so tough and the game is brutal.
I didn't want the interview to end.
There's a part 3, so don't worry!
@@thesickpodcastrawknuckles Great, I'll check it out.
Come on Chris. Don't be pissed at Hull. Take the high road you got two goals and three assists just remember that. Thank you for your content.

Hey Chris how do we order merchandise?
So when do we actually do a Terry O’Reilly interview?
Chris, you answered 95% of the questions! 0 for 2…
I had a Goalie do that to me. Later in the game I cross checked him in the throat and received a gross misconduct. Man was my old man pissed!!!😅😅
Warriors!
Knucks. Was Grimson the toughest you ever fought? Or Probert?
Poor Terry has to sit there and listen to Knuckles stories….why ask him to come in?
Exactly!

the public ignores this side about players injured and being ignored that is appauling no?
in todays game you need to be a good skator and some guy need to be capable to drop the gloves if need be., keeps the bad guys more respectfull.
