UFOs (UnFinished Objects)

- Do you have UFOs (unfinished objects) at your house? A plan that didn't get off the ground? Maybe a dressed loom with a partially woven blanket? Or possibly a set of woven placemats that just need the fringe added? Sound familiar?
In today's episode of A Handwoven Experience, I'm tackling the challenge of "unfinishing" head on. Hopefully, one of these tools will encourage you to pull out your own project and give it a little gas to complete it. Enjoy!

Thank you for the inspiration....much needed😊
You're welcome! I'm so glad it was helpful!
Sometimes I find myself getting board in the middle of a big project. At that point I find that looking for a new project helps. I find a new exciting idea. Now I have to hurry and finish the old one so I can move on to the new one.
That's good incentive to finish! I like it!
Thank you, it was insightful!
My pleasure! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I think the most important thing for weavers to cultivate is judgment, i.e., be realistic about your ability to commit to a project. Are you willing to spend a whole year working on an intricate overshot? Do you want the instant gratification of towels you can give as gifts? Consider what you're getting into, and balance it against an objective assessment of your own personality.
Oh, interesting! Thanks for sharing!
Naked loom at the moment, way too much other things that need to be finished. I find I get overwhelmed with my choices if I wait too long to get something back on my loom. In my head I'm weaving something with red and turquoise so the vibrate, almost hurt your eyes to look at. I wonder how that will be to weave?
I understand the overwhelm, Susan! I love the mix of red & turquoise! When I've worked with it in the past, I've cut it with just a hint of white, as a touch of relief. Let me know how it goes! I'm excited for you!!!
Not what I expected from this video. I was thinking stacks of weavework that needs fringe tied, or some hand sewing, things like that. Instead , it's about stopping the work due to questions, mistakes, or time management. In quilting, UFO's can stack up while you move on to another quilt and another. Weaving doesn't work like that for me; except for the fringe, there is nothing left to do after it comes off the loom. Weaving is one project at a time.
The stupid mistake putting a 9 yard warp for Krokbragd on my rigid heddle loom and really thinking I could be done weaving it in a week. Yeah I was (shall we say it loudly)....WRONG. 2 months in and about halfway done LOL. I just keep plugging along and writing down all the ideas of other things I'd rather be weaving while hunting down the missing parts for my floor loom so I can hopefully get that baby set up soon. Don't get me wrong Krokbragd is some very neat stuff. But that long a warp was stupidly ambitious for a first try.
Ah, Myrany... we've all been there! The never ending project! I feel you!!
But I can't wait to see your Krokbragd project! It's going to be so impressive!
