- In every Supersoap there are characters who outstay their welcome, a subtle way to say that every viewer ends up hating their guts! Here you are a Top 10 (this time 12+1) selection among all those fictional people we just couldn´t stand in our lives for whatever reason. Or maybe we could, and we are standing them on a daily basis at work, or at home (I hope not). The last part of this video is only a belated celebration of Halloween in a way that you could never, ever suspect...

The music of Dallas was brilliant
Apollonia, yes. Final years of Falcon Crest? Blame awful new hire Producer Phil Parslow (who apparently had ZERO interest in Falcon Crest and in exploring plots that actually had anything to do at all with the world of wine). But Susan Flannery on Dallas? I certainly remember her. I also went on to intern on The Bold & the Beautiful for a semester and she was fantastic, both in the part and as a person, who was kinder to me than she needed to be and than a few others (not many) were. Love her. Who could ever forget even just her looks and beautiful eyes.
I thought Apollonia was only on for 1 season?
Susan looked AMAZING during her (brief!) stint on Dallas and was always a terrific actress. Her inclusion here is unwarranted.
Lol - you are right - Lindsay’s scenes are SO 1970s horror.
And I swear I could never understand anything Peter de Vilbis said. It sounds like he’s just making up words.
Agree - now you know why she wasn't shown in the beginning of season 7 along with Matthew her Pop. Peter was awful. In her 2n autobiography calle 2n Act, Joan Collins sai that Hulmut Berger was acting as if he coul party all night, blow off learning lines properly, etc. She sai she trie to mentor him as to how to behave in orer to survive working on primetime soaps but he blew her off, resulting in his being let go asap. In the same book she sai Ali trie her best to work in that environment which she quickly foun was more challenging than films. The game plan was for her character to be a lover of Blake's; as soon as John Forsythe (the sole cast member who ha any real clout with TPTB) flippe out, refusing to participate in that in line. Thus, TPTB set her up in a relationship with Jeff (at that time Fallon was presume to have been kille in a car crash), otherwise keeping her mainly for ecoration & possibly to fulfill their contractual obligation to her, resulting in her character being one of two characters who were casualties of the Molavian massacre at the en of season 5. TPTB ha John break the news to her at the season en wrap party: that she woul not be returning next season.
@@alexisdiva9 Thanks for the info! More videos coming soon. Take care! Toni from supersoaps.org
@@supersoaps you're very welcome! Will look forward to them in light of COVID-19 & being furloughed.
I think girl playing Lindsay was a decent actress. Would you rather have Tori Spelling in that role?
@@johnlewinski6359 Lol, that is so true! The actress was good in other roles, but not as Lindsay. Tori is always Tori!! Toni from supersoaps.org
Lindsay the 70s teen victim of a made-for-tv horror movie - excellent observation!
For me Peter De Vilbis and Sean Rowan would be second and first respectively. Sean was like a void in human form sucking the life out of every scene he was in.
So valid.....Sean was supposed to be Joseph's son and Kirby's brother...and was ex IRA.....made NO sense. Peter was so NOT attractive and Fallon looked so stupid falling for him.
12:51 When James licks his lips, I was committed and loyal.
I know what you mean Jeff!! Thanks for your feedback!
Nice touch that you noticed the font for Dynasty was sometimes white during Lindsay’s time.
I loved Jane Elliot on Knots Landing and James Beaumont on Dallas! (:
You did?
Sasha Mitchell was nice too look at, at least. The TNT relaunch didn't mention James at all.
@@Hardbody217 He was probably still in jail on that wifebeating charge! TNT made many mistakes keeping James off the show was not one of them
I liked James Beaumont also. Some people are so picky. They get on my nerves. They never want to welcome any new characters. They want the show dominated by the same characters from the beginning and that gets boring fast.
@@hshawn00 He was VERY (very very) green and only got somewhat better towards the end. At least he was able to make his "duuude" ness work better in Step by Step.
Lindsay was so bad Matthew didn't even mention her when he came back after they both "died". Also Ali McGraw can't act her way out a paper bag. Ashley was awful and her getting killed was the only good thing to come out of the Moldavian Massacre.
Garrett I agree, hated her in the first season! Lindsay! 👎🏻 Ash at least had some class and was not so annoying and constantly whining like Lindsay!
Agree with you Garrett and soapwonder! Lindsay was a pain in the a**. I used to joke that the some ancient tribe caught her and reduced her head...Poor poor Lindsay! Toni
Garrett, actually Matthew did mention Lindsay in the Season 8 Premiere: Krystle asked him about her and he answered: "They couldn´t save her". Thanks for watching and take care! Toni from supersoaps.org
Garrett - Amen regarding Ali McGraw as Lady Ashley. Her acting was atrocious and it was laughable that every man in Denver had the hots for her. Needless to say, I wasn’t upset when Ashley was gunned down in Moldavia. Jeff, Alexis, Dominique or evening LB would probably have taken her out had she survived the massacre. 😆🤣
I agree Garrett, Ali McGraw was awful. It’s no surprise she never did anything besides Love Story and Dynasty
😂 Some hilariously scathing critique! 🙏
The worst - by far - was the ludicrous Wes Parmalee, impersonator of Jock Ewing who fooled no one. How much crack were the writers of Dallas smoking when they hatched that harebrained plot? Bobby Ewing in the shower wasn’t that insane.
I actually loved the early Dallas story arc with Susan Flannery. It was great seeing the sexist JR Ewing encounter a woman who was as sharp as he was.
Thanks for the upload. Great memories
Thanks to you Memphispraiser! More videos soon!
I liked Jean Hackney character(Wendy Fulton). She was the perfect foil to set up Ben for the premise of him leaving Knots Landing. Chasing her after terrorizing Valene and the kids. Even though never mentioned in the show directly she probably killed Ben in South America and went on to terrorize other people. Also liked Leslie Stewart(Susan Flannery). A very underrated actress. Loved her in towering inferno and glad she went on to make it big on B&B for many years before sadly retiring. Majority of the other characters in your top 12 were boring and made up silly plot lines. Makes me think the actors were friends of the directors/producers etc who were asked to come in when they had an opening. :-P
I agree with your comment. I also like Susan Flannery who was briefly in the towering inferno
.I love her better in the bold and the beautiful.
Thank you Jason! I also liked the Jean Hackney storyline. As I mentioned in the comment I posted about this, some viewers limit their shows and only will allow for certain storylines. Anything out of that box, they claim is out of the place in the universe of the show. This is why I always liked fantasy episodes on sitcoms. It allowed the writers creative freedom and allowed the show to do something different.
As a dynasty and Dallas fan, I LOVE that most of the list comprises characters from both of those shows lol so many unnecessary people coming and going! That Sean Rowan guy was just ridiculous 😂
you know what really annoyed me in Dynasty: Blake's daughters' sudden change in accents! hahahahahahahahahaha!
@@redletter2008. I didn’t even know there was an Amanda 2.0. Oxenberg was both beautiful and a good actress. But, does anyone remember Elena, the Duchess of Brana?? (Moldavia)
All these characters were used so briefly or for a whole season. I thought you would use long-time established characters. For example: Dex Dexter, I thought he went on a couple of seasons too long.
Tim, thanks for your feedback. I agree with you about Dex. However these characters are truly hated by the diehard fans and I also wanted to add a little humor to the video, as you could see. I also dealt with this issue in the one about the "Huge Mistakes of the Supersoaps" (there I mentioned main characters who did outstay their welcome, like April or Cally on "Dallas", eg). Today I´ll uploading a new video, I hope you like it!
The Dex character was stupid. Why would a man in his 30s have wanted Alexis who had already slept with everyone in Denver and Rasheed Ahmed from Saudia Arabia and probably Dex's daddy too. She was old already. They caked so much make up on her you couldn't tell she used to be a mummy.
@@cherylwest5444 yes. the thing is, Alexis kept telling him that she doesn't want a relationship. she is emotionally and allround independent woman. HE kept harassing her for a relationship until she just gave in to shut him da hell up! LOL! but many times he became useful by bailing her out of trouble thus earning his keep. LOL!
Disagree on James Beaumont being in the list. Same for Susan Flannery’s character.
John, as I said in the Disclaimer, I also disagree on some of them, but the internet fans are very clear in their opinions. I´ve read for years how they dislike James and Peter for example, and I liked both characters but...Leslie was played by a great actress but she was miscast IMHO. To make things worse, the character was sort of recycled years later with Lesley-Anne Down´s Stephanie Rogers. Thanks for watching and commenting, and don´t forget to vote for the best episodes!
Garbage. James was awful. Any Dallas character added post 1987 was shit. Lucy on Dallas lasted way too long. She didn't do a thing.
Garbage
@@CaptainSpalding72 Lucy was part of the main cast
James and his dopey surfer boy accent. He was not believable as a young man who had been sent to good boarding schools by a European mother. He was awful.
I pleaded for Robin Agretti on Falcon Crest to be on this list. Just not enough room I guess. Happily, Friday the 13 part 4 comes to the rescue.
While some may think both Susan F on Dallas and Peter R on Knots overstayed their welcome, they both played iconic roles on daytime soaps, shows that have lasted longer and are still on. Susan in two roles (Laura on Days and Stephanie on B/B) and Peter on Days (Bo).
Knots Landing Amanda Waleska should be on this list. I get they wanted Danny Waleska to have an ex-wife that was involved with Gary, but the character was annoying at best and the actress had zero chemistry with Ted Shackleford (Gary)
In DYNASTY: What was the budget and cost for all of those excessive costumes worn by Alexis alone?! there was one black and white outfit that looked like an OSHA violation! LOL LOL! I have never seen one woman in any tv show wear so many costumes per hour per episode! I get dizzy just watching her enter a room with the latest outrageous outfit!
I absolutely hated crazy Lindsey and Matthew in the first season of Dynasty! Their deaths and the second season was such a gift from god!
I loved Rose in Dallas. She looked like a younger sister of Peggy Bundy. She was the last great guest star character in Dallas. The earrings and the clothers were a little bit to much... But it was Dallas.
I loved Rose too. I don’t think she really needs to be on this list.
Some I liked because they were love to hate/so bad they are good. Others were definitely bad. Also never realized how much Ali McGraw and Angie Hamond look like one another.
I'll always remember Katy Kurtzman from "The New Adventures of Heidi."
I always felt sorry for Claudia and Matthew's daughter Lindsey. She had to deal with not only regular teenage problems but that everyone knew her mother had been in an asylum and her father had a thing for his boss's wife Krystal. Too bad they didn't write her differently, they could have turned her from teenage victim into a teenage siren. They could have had her dressing more like an 80s teenage vamp to try to steal Steven away from her mom Claudia...or getting close to Fallon so she could try seducing Jeff...but with Lindsey being around 15-16 (or looking that young), you don't want the show either Steven or Jeff looking like pervs going after jailbait lol
I like the la-la-la evil child singing at the end
It’s Mia Farrow singing the theme to Rosemary’s Baby.
Ali MacGraw was a superb actor - it was really odd how wooden her performances were on Dynasty.
Oh, and Moldavia is still fictional. It's *Moldova* that's a separate country now.
Good list. The idea of Leslie Stewart was certainly full of potential: a female J.R. who would turn the tables on the misogynistic bully during a time when evil always met with comeuppance, before the villain was reshaped into the anti-hero and TV started celebrating villainy instead of critiquing abusive behavior. Susan Flannery was an intriguing presence, not to mention a real-life walking Sphinx, but she had absolutely no sexual chemistry with Larry Hagman and the story lacked any real romantic conflict (bizarrely, Flannery and Linda Gray did not share ONE scene during that entire season - maybe a rivalry between Leslie and Sue Ellen may have added more depth to the story? Who knows).
Likewise, Dynasty seriously mistepped with the Sean Rowan character ... instead of casting him as yet another ho-hum lover for Alexis, they should have had him a mysterious character stalking the entire Carrington family, believing himself to be the real Adam Carrington.
Poor Ali MacGraw - she was so out-of-step with what Dynasty was; her earthy 70's California-ism just didn't fit with the by-then superficial aesthetics that draped the show in old Hollywood decadence. Raquel Welch (the original conception for the role) would have been much better, or perhaps even a Jaclyn Smith or a Lynda Carter. But Ashley Mitchell would have been an unforgiving character for any capable actress. John Forsythe hindered any real storytelling with his insistence to protect Blake's "honor"; it's a soap opera, Forsythe, a genre that thrives off flaws and faults and the conflicts they create. The whitewashing of Blake from a tyrannical despot to knight and shining armor really hurt this show, as did the fairytale rewrite of the dysfunctional Krystle-Blake relationship, which created fascinating character-driven story for the first two seasons.
Speaking of not fitting into the mold, the gorgeous Gayle Hunnicut just did not fit with Dallas, and was "saddled" (pun intended) with the unspeakable task of trying to make the audience forget Linda Gray and the epic J.R.-Sue Ellen history. That just was not going to work, and it was silly of the producers to think that it would. Interestingly, other European women didn't fit into the fabric of Dallas, including Lesley-Anne Down and Barbara Carrera. The producers' need to have their own Joan Collins became a weird fixation. This was ultimately a show about cowboys, not the continent. Dallas' major lesson: KNOW THYSELF.
Speaking of continental, I am sure Helmut Berger looked great on paper, but that stunt casting fell with such a clunk, it physically hurt viewers to watch it happen in real-time. Berger has written about his very unhappy time with the show, claiming its stars were not welcoming and did not want to interact with him. Whether that is true or not, Berger and his flamboyant European celebrity was more suited for the big screen; sometimes that doesn't translate well to the smaller screen. He looked hedged in, almost claustrophobic, resulting in stilted lifeless delivery. The Peter DiVilbis character was a great idea, and could have been one of the show's most memorable villains, but needed a much more versatile character actor. So many actors at the time with the right "name appeal" who could have done this role. A shame.
James Beaumont ... ugh. I would have made the last two seasons of DALLAS another one of Pam's dreams ... maybe a nightmare would be more fitting. Or a bad hallucinogenic drug trip. Actually, it would be more fitting if they were one of Bob Newhart's dreams, if only because Dallas turned into such a silly joke.
I actually loved Peter on Dallas and Lady Ashley on Dynasty! (:
me too
You need therapy.
I would add Pilar Ortega from Falcon Crest. She replaced the popular Melissa Agretti and was disliked by fans for seasons 8 and 9.
I mean, when your acting is too bad for Dynasty, you have probs!!!!
I don't get why some people hated the Jean Hackney storyline on Knot's Landing. Sometimes fans box shows in and refused to allow the show to branch out and do stories they wouldn't ordinarily do. I thought the story added interest to the sometimes boring Ben. I loved Doug Sheehan but his character could be boring and too goody two shoes at times so it was interesting to create this past for him. I enjoyed the twist and turns in the Jean story and her trying to make Ben kill Greg. It was very suspenseful. I always loved umbrella stories so I loved him this pulled a lot of the principal characters in, especially at the end of the story.
Lindsey shouldn’t be on this list , she was the main characters daughter , they should’ve utilized her more !
With Peter Richards on Dallas becoming Sue Ellen's lover when she was old enough to be his mother was groundbreaking for nighttime soap operas in general as that had never been seen before, while on the other hand J.R. slept with young women who were old enough to be his daughter.
I loved Leslie Stewart. And i liked how it ended - no hate, no bad feelings on either side - quite rare for JRs relationships
I definitely think Lindsay Blaisdel outstayed her welcome on Dynasty.
Could you do a "what if...." the Dallas dream season was not a dream? What would really have happened in Season 10?
cloverfield911 thanks for the suggestions! I´ll add that for another future Top Ten! Great idea! Toni from supersoaps.org
@@supersoaps From what I heard, Jamie would be dead, Sue Ellen would be left wheelchair bound after the explosion and Pam would find Mark dead in the shower....Obviously Ben Shrivers would then claim to be Jock.
@@cloverfield911 Thanks for the info. I read that Sue Ellen would be blind because of the bombing, and Angelica would be formally accused of that. Also, that Mark (if not dead!) would also be accused of a murder in his college days (a prank, as MacSween says in the penultimate Dream Season episode). I´ll try to find more info for the video though I don´t think there is much more out there! Toni from supersoaps.org.
@@supersoaps It would still be interesting to see where things would go if bobby never returned!! John Beck would probably have stayed as Mark, and Cliff would seek revenge on JR for Jamie's death....It's fun to speculate!
@@cloverfield911 and Dallas and Knots Landing would remain in the same universe. Bobby remained dead on Knots, thus, no more crossovers!
Christopher Atkins should have never been on Dallas in the first place. He acts like he took his acting lessons on Sesame Street. So he is an obvious #1 for that show. But right after him, I'd vote for Kim Foster as Michelle Stevens. Basically a replacement for April when they decided April should be the new Pam, so to speak. Michelle was boring AF. After that, pretty much every guy that Lucy got involved with.
It was definitely Claudia from Dynasty! Poor sad ol’ Claudia
I.. LIKED Vanessa Hunt. As a gay male, she didn't appeal to me, sexually, but she was fun to watch stirring things up. I enjoy Felicity's contributions to the dying Dallas years. :....(
Well, she actually was in Knots Landing lol! Fans complain about her voice, her acting, her screentime...They don´t remember that Lisa Hartman wasn´t Meryl Streep and stayed a few years in the show!
Vanessa took out Treadwell, so she did something productive, and was bi.
@@tomcat630 Yeah, Dallas wasn't on anyone's gaydar but they had some pretty important lgbt+ cast and characters. Wholelly underappreciated.
I feel like Amanda Bedford Carrington should have been in there. She should have died in the fire at La Mirage and not been recast.
Agree about Amanda´s destiny! No recast is better than awful recast!
Yes. Awful
Amanda ditched the family that raised her for the Carringtons, then disappeared,
Dynasty could have actually filled this list, lol
Sean, Peter but what about Mark Jennings and Kirby too?
I understand why Lindsay is on the list but the show seemed to know she was not working as a character and was off after 1 season. The show did better with her offscreen being mentioned by Claudia and part of her motivations trying to find her
I liked Mark but they should have let him go after his first season. Had him move out of town. Instead, he lingered around for another season as Alexis' bodyguard but didn't really do much
@@radrobd123 agreed. Or if the show actually made Krystle somewhat interested in him - maybe he could have stayed longer.
Nah. Mark Jennings was a decent character. Besides, he set the cabin fire! In more ways than one.
I thought that was Joseph?
Mark was handsome - had the Magnum PI look going for him but the character was kind of pointless…Krystle had no interest in him, Fallon dumped him and then he was kind of pushed off to the the sideline as Alexis bodyguard. Had Krystle wanted him or Fallon had more of connection maybe the character would have been more significant
I meant to say he rescued them from the fire.
Wes Parmalee. Should have been on this list
Wow, what memories! Great list. I remember screaming every time lady Ashley & that Moldavia storyline came on. Garbage
what about Falcon Crest?there were some people on there that outstayed their welcome
damian, of course there were some, and there are some here from FC. It´s all about balance between the supersoaps, and between all the videos I´ve done so far. Thanks for watching! Toni
@@supersoaps i saw it
It´s not right that that Sean didn´t talk from Kirby. With his other sister Victoria he talked about Kirby and Joseph and what Alexis did do with them. But in the reunion Kirby talked with Adam about her father and he told he never met him.
Well at the time of season 8 and Sean's arrival, Kathleen Beller was starring on another show, The Bronx Zoo, on an opposite network (NBC). I had hoped Kathleen would guest star but that never happened
All of them! Creepy! And I stopped watching Dallas after April’s death! Enough was enough! So I have no clue about seasons 12-14 or whatever! Dynasty was always my fave, but the girl, Karen, or whatever her name is, replacing the great Catherine Oxenberg as Amanda was an insult! She had her chauffeur had to go! So lame!
Anyone else Skipping over the boring Knots Landing parts?
I did it for much of its original run……
A rare misfire with Jane Elliot and Susan Flannery.
My list
Mark on Dallas
April on Dallas
I agree with ALL of these choices. Bad characters and bad storylines. Many of them I forgot or simply stopped watching because they seemed so stupid.
Very true, I definitely agree with you.
So many I disagree with but I have to be honest. I loved Charlie on FC. They were trying to go dark on FC in season 9 and he took the show there. I mean…him taking the wedding ring off of Maggie’s corpse as she lay in her coffin said so much about his character and to have him paired with the always innocent Emma was perfect. Charlie gave Emma such an interesting last story arc with one of her best scenes, “Merry Christmas, Charlie.”
I also didn’t mind Lindsay on Dynasty as much as some. She was just a younger, whinier Claudia.
Have to admit I loved Sasha Mitchell on Dallas…mostly ‘cuz I thought he was hot. I always wished they had paired James with Callie to give her more of an interesting story.
It’s good knowing that you don’t necessarily agree with the list, though.
hx3trapped, you are right: it´s ok to disagree. I´m very grateful for your feedback and happy you enjoyed Charley St. James! Toni www.supersoaps.org
Sasha Mitchell was way too stunning to be anywhere near this list!
GOOD LISTS! I was wondering if Falcon Crest would make the list and BAM! I remember Charlie now......that whole season stopped making coherent sense....then the next season when they brought on Gregory Harrison as a villain and Jane Wyman returned it seemed to get normal again. Nothing from THE COLBYS? Guess it wasn't on long enough.....but that Ballet Dancer played by future Highlander star Adrian Paul was a good candidate but then again all of Bliss Colby's storyline was forgettable so her boytoys would be as well. Dynasty should have added Sarah Curtis (Cassie Yates). The crazy, grieving Mom who kidnapped little Kristina. And yes Lindsay Blaisdel's scenes were nauseating.....she served a valid plot purpose but ARGH. I didn't mind the JR/Vanessa/James storyline on Dallas so much but it was mostly because Linda Gray left the show and we all knew that JR and Callie were a complete joke of a couple. Sasha Mitchell was a comedy actor not a dramatic actor. This is almost surely why James never gets mentioned ever in the Dallas reboot in 2012. I love Joel Fabiani tying himself! LOL On Dynasty King Galen never annoyed me as much as Prince Michael. He was beyond annoying and I couldnt wait for he and Amanda to split. Did anyone else notice that each year on Dynasty they brought on a man whose sole mission was to break up Blake and Krystal (Matthew Blaisdel, Nick Toscanni, Mark Jennings, Daniel Reese, Joel Abrigore....sort of)
Thanks a lot, Maestro. More videos coming soon. Stay healthy! Toni from supersoaps.org
Claire Yarlett!! I’d nearly forgotten about Bliss. She was sooo…forgettable. I refuse to acknowledge that FC had a 9th season.
@@paulvoorhies8821 It's kind of like Dallas's "Dream Season" GAWD. 🥵
@@maestroclassico5801 I wish it were all a dream!!
@@paulvoorhies8821 Soooo much I would have changed if I were Lorimar or Spellling! lol
Angelica Nero should be on here. LeeAnn Nelson (sorry, Barbara Eden).
Galen and Michael should been like Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles, Amanda as Lady Di and Elena Camillia. But Joel Fabiani and Michael...They look together like a suggardaddy and his toyboy. And there was no chemistry between Alexis and Galen and Amanda and Michael. Catherine Oxenberg and Michael Nader R.I:P. were great together.
Omg! I agree but also disagree! I have sooo many feelings about this!!!
I can say this though- I miss Chip. I would still run away with Chip, even after the Cigi "accident" and the Diana, and the stealing. We'd run away, until Gary called. Or, or Gregg. Or one of Karen's kids. Or that lawyer who worked for Abby when she was stealing from Gary... but definitely, Gary...in his little yellow shorts.
Oh boy.
I would probably rank things differently.
All the 80s soaps had hiccups when the ventured into plot driven stories over character driven stories.
Lindsay was an archetype typical of soaps in the late 70s. The overwhelmed teen with multiple bouts of crying. The character had no Carrington counterpart to expand her story. The writers and directors should have placed more effort.
Leslie Stewart was great at the start, but fell victim to the writers letting the character lose steam. It’s typical for soap characters with no ties to the core families.
King Galen should have died in Moldavia along with Prince Michael. During the 80s, Denver was not a place where royals would settle.
I think Prince Michael also stayed too long.
Apolonia on Falcon Crest didn’t age well at all. She and Lance didn’t even have a real resolution. She was just gone. The music also didn’t age well, and it sounds silly by today’s standards.
Johnny Rourke on Knots Landing was just an all around miss. Again, with no ties, and a bad story, he was tedious from the beginning.
Falcon Crest’s entire last season was really difficult to watch. It wasn’t just Charlie that was a disaster. (I liked Mark Lindsay Chapman in other projects, but the writing during the last season was a mess)
I thought Michael Sharpe was actually more annoying. The writing was so cliche, and about 5 years to late. The archetype the character represented had already become obsolete as the 90s rapidly shifted away from the greed culture of the 80s.
Richard, thanks a lot for your feedback. I agree with some, and disagree with others, but your opinions are very insightful. Keep tuned in, more videos soon. Take care. Toni www.supersoaps.org
what is TPTB?
The Powers That Be, the bosses, the honchos...
@@supersoaps ok
Sasha Mitchell from Dallas should have been omitted since he’s sooo fricking hot he was therefore quite memorable.
I liked James Beaumont.
Didn’t like his mother Vanessa
ricika210, I also liked James esp. at the beginning, but in his second season they stopped writing for them and made him more similar to Sasha in real life (bikes, tattoos...). Vanessa was a pain in the a**... Stay strong! Toni from supersoaps.org
The scariest character in DALLAS was Lesley-Anne Down and he doesn't appear in the list! Played badly. Weak story. Bad end.
I disagree...I really liked Rose, James, Leslie, Vanessa, Peter and the stories in DALLAS...🥰
I disagree with Lindsay. I liked the poor Blaisdel family compared to the rich Carrington family.
Great video, I totally agree and would add Falcon Crest Season 7's John Remmick, there are too many characters from seasons 8 and 9 to mention. Lesley Anne-Down as Stephanie Rogers in Season 13 of Dallas, she's even in the opening titles and brings nothing whatsoever to the storyline!
Very true in both cases campgalore!
John Remick was only in 4 episodes initially, then brought back for 1 more at the end of the season. He was just a guest star. I wouldn't say he "overstayed" his welcome and his time on the show was brief
You nailed it with #1 guys but I would definitely have included that annoying boy Karen and Mack adopted for like 5 minutes. Jason was it? From beginning to end, a silly story, and as well liked as Lisa Harman was, Cathy Geary was just too much of a cliched soap character to be taken seriously. Those corny montages as her career took off, and sorry but how thick were those silk filters for her music videos?
Well technically Karen and Mack didn't "adopt" him. They were his foster parents.
And then Jason disappeared.
I know this character was on from the beginning to a few seasons, but I would've picked Diana Fairgate, who was annoying
Lindsay was terrible...She cryed all the time. Not the blame of the actress. A lovely girl. The blame of the writers. Helmut Berger from Dynasty was once the most beautiful man of the world. Today he is a human wreck. Too much drugs, sex and alcohol. Dynasty had manny worse storylines for the characters. Tracy, Dominique, Kirby, Sarah Peter....Moldavia was for me a hit. For me one of the best episodes.
Yeah, the actual cliffhanger itself. It jumped the shark at the very beginning of the next season bc it didn’t even come close to living up to its hype, and I think the writers lost the viewers’ trust right there. IMHO, though they would all soon crumble being around 87, Dynasty fell down first.
I would have loved for Sue Ellen and JR to have had a daughter after John Ross but the Peter storyline was not one that I liked.
LBF522 I would’ve liked that too, I actually always wanted to do Sue Ellen and JR to have three children A girl after John Ross and then another boy, the girl being born in season six and the boy in season 8.
@@nofacespacetasmr3008 I hated that James Beaumont storyline. Like JR would have just accepted this person as his son just like that when he was suspicious of Jamie. Not to mention it destroyed JR and John Ross's relationship.
@@LBF522 agreed and James was such a bland and tasteless character
@@nofacespacetasmr3008
He was sooo damn fine though!
I mis Kate O'Mara as Caress Morell the sister of Alexis. And Megan....oops Lindsey was just awfull.
I thought Falcon Crest was just going to squeak by with an honorable mention ranking and then came number one - Charlie! The downfall of the show and well deserved choice because he was the worst, but I think they were looking for some plot device to explain Angela's absence from the show. Appolonia was an odd casting choice - I think the FC producers were hoping to draw interest from her Prince/Purple Rain connection and mirror the success of Lisa Hartman's character(s) over on Knots Landing.
Apollonia at least provided some comic relief just being on the same screen with Angela-“that Babylonia person.” But she surely was a terrible actress.
FC had a 9th season?? Who knew? I tuned out.
From DYNASTY I couldn't stand Ali Mcgraw's character or Dianne Carol or The Ben Carrington character or Peter Devilbus. I hated when Pamela Sue Martin, Catherine Oxynberg and Heather Locklear left the show. Didn't like Alec Baldwin on Knots Landing or anything else.
Dominique Devereaux? Really? First time I’ve ever heard anyone say that.
"Jenna Wade" from Dallas! Priscilla Presley was pretty, but boring!!!!
I prefer Morgan Fairchild, who had played Jenna Wade.
im a pam girl i just wish they tone pam down a bit
@@montygreen6228. Both were great!
Should have been Lillimae from Knots Landing
Julie Harris as Lilimae Clements in Knots Landing received EMMY nominations in
the category of Best Supporting Actress In A Drama Series.
@@kobrakitsch877 Check out the Emmy site, she got no noms for Knots

I located the fact that Julie Harris was indeed nominated for Knots Landing within the category of Best Supporting Actress In A Drama Series during the 1981-1982 EMMY Awards TV Season. The other nominees were Barbara Bosson for Hill Street Blues, Linda Kelsey for Lou Grant and Betty Thomas for Hill Street Blues. The winner was Nancy Marchand for Lou Grant. Perhaps her other 2 nominations were from the Golden Globes or another TV awards body. I will definitely recheck it. Thanks.
@@kobrakitsch877 Wow, you impress me. Sometimes data collapse my brains! Thanks for your feedback and stay healthy. Toni
@@kobrakitsch877. Julie Harris is a Tony award winner to boot!
Susan Flannery (Stephanie Forrester of 25 years on soapie The Bold and The Beautiful & ( Larry Hagman) (J.R. Ewing ) together as a couple on a new night time soapie it would had been 🔥 😃 Take Care August 26,2022
THE worst, and most irritatingly irrelevant character, was the pathetic “Lady” Ashley Mitchell. She was laughably bad in nearly every scene that featured her. First, viewers were apparently to believe Ashley was one of the most gorgeous women to grace this planet. The truth was she was average at best, with the same look - usually greasy-looking hair pulled back and ugly clothes (oddly for Dynasty at its height). Secondly, the acting by Ally McGraw was so awful. Her delivery was wooden and made it hard for her character to be liked. Someone in the show’s production thought McGraw/Mitchell were scintillating sex symbols, but viewers weren’t having it! 😂. So, it was NO surprise that Ashley was one of only two (irrelevant) characters to die in the lame “Moldavian Massacre” - even though the season ended with the entire cast laying on the ground and, for some reason, unconscious (most, including Krystle, Blake, Alexis, Dominique and Steven, had no serious injuries- so why were they “unconscious”? - playing dead?) Anyway, lots of viewers were glad to see Ashley go down. Would not have been surprised if it was not the soldiers, but instead Krystle or Ashley’s “lover” Jeff who actually shot her in the melee 😅😂🤣.
So agree with you! I used to joke that Lady Ashley looked like Popeye´s Olive Oyl because of her hairdo! She was out-of-place on "Dynasty". Thanks a lot for your feedback. Toni www.supersoaps.org
It’s widely believed that Episode 1 of the post Moldavian Massacre season was the moment in which Dynasty jumped the shark. All that carnage, and 2 deaths of seriously minor characters? And Ashley deserved it. Dumb ass kept trying to take pictures of the massacre. Stephen’s BF, Billy Campbell, was so amazingly hot it hurt my eyes. Other than that, not much of a character loss. Dynasty never reclaimed its credibility after failing to live up at all to its cliffhanger.
Was for "look who's a guest star!". Ali had a comeback with "Winds of War" but it fizzled after "Dynasty"
She had some of the worst earrings ever, too....!!!
I think Tommy Ortega from season 8 of Falcon Crest should have been on here his character was pretty bland and rather forgettable like that season
Also, Kristian Alfonso should have stayed on DAYS.
@@paulvoorhies8821 I liked her character better then Tommy
I can see now why these soap operas died off. I only watched Dallas and Dynasty but both had some true filler characters which added nothing. My top choice for Dynasty would be Claudia; pathetic and not always playing with a full deck. She basically hung around living off the hospitality of the Carringtons. I think she screwed Adam, Steven and Jeff before she finally left the show. Next would be Dex Dexter, basically the go to stud horse for the series. Finally, Sammy Jo; a true wooden performance You can tell the actress was doing it for the money. As for Dallas, Cliff Barnes. Yes, a whiny shell of a man he truly was no match for JR. Second Ray Krebs, oh come on Dallas's go to stud horse. The cowboy routine got old quickly and his storylines were basically fillers. Finally Pamela Barnes. Her constant weeping and complaining and that awful storyline with Mark Grason. If she was a stronger character and maybe kicked Jenna's ass a few times she would have been better. As for the minor characters shown on the video I agree. I can't believe Linda Gray agreed to do the Peter storyline. The Leslie Stewart storyline just fizzled out in the end.
Hey. Leave those man D characters alone! 😮
Xx
boy, have i hated Peter Richards, such an annoying character and such a stupid storyline
