Bridget Kearney is the bassist and she's a force to be reckoned with. She writes many of the songs in addition to bass and backup vocals. She's got solo work too.
She’s awesome, the singer is awesome, the drummer is awesome… this band has no weak spots. I’ve seen them live 3 times and they are super tight live, too. I took my wife to the first show when she had never heard their music and got to watch her face light up during the first song as she realized what a treat she was in for.
Lake Street Dive is a new discovery for me and I have been checking around different videos. There hasn't been a disappointment yet. Talented musicians that let their talent shine through how they play for the song instead of to show off chops - everything was perfect for the song!
I'm only here because I decided I'd just slowly work through all your videos, and while this was a bit different than others, I dig it! I'm an extreme beginner learning music production and I really love your style of pausing and rewinding because it gives me a chance to listen more closely to the supporting instrumentation that I normally don't consciously pay attention to, as well as introducing me to new music!
The best ... really ! I've been listening for a while now and I laugh/cry everytime ! It's the musicianship that is key here. True people. Just something.😊
Tony, please, never stop doing these underrated music reactions. I found soo much good music through these videos of yours. It's so sad that people only watch reactions to music they already know and aren't willing to discover sm new. I am soo grateful to you for still doing these reactions regardless of how well the video does. Thank you so much for that. Again, I'm forever grateful
Oooohhhh LSD.....whew. what a wonderful and derserving intimate breakdown/reaction. Thank you for explaining in depth why, when I listen to the song, I just go: "daaaaayummm" 🫰
Totally agree on the comments about space and the tasteful restrained bassist-Bridget Kearney...the whole band is great...I like Them best when Rachael sings slower heartfelt tunes like "What I'm Doing Here", and "Must Have Been Something".
Wish more people knew about them, they should have been superstars. This lineup came up though the New England Conservatory, they're all jazz nerds and they formed this band there. If you want some deeper insight, this class/presentation/Q&A they did with NEC was absolutely fascinating: th-cam.com/video/rwpXTeKhWYs/w-d-xo.html
The wild thing is that these guys are even better live. Not just good writing and good execution, but damn good performances. Also, the bassist Bridget is the primary songwriter, and shes just brilliant!
YES!!!!!! I was not expecting this at all, but this was one of of my most listened to songs in 2022!! Call Off Your Dogs is also a good tune with a really nice baseline!
Yes sirr!! I recently was having a discussion with some of my friends (who are a bit new in the musician scene) about what is means to be in the pocket. This is a great example of that, band is tight! Bass/drums giving a solid foundation and still having a good amount of variation. A lot of little ear candy throughout the song that’s tasteful and doesn’t distract from the vocals. Each section is set up well, and the groove is nicee. Hadn’t heard of this group before, thanks for the reaction😎
The first time I Iistened to this song I couldn't stop hearing it! It makes me fly and be in a up-moody mode! The bioloncello is fantastic, the voices underground, the guitar, drums and piano are so SOUL/Groovy I love it! Thanks for sharing your opinion!
Tony, I just came across you via the TH-cam suggestions on the right side of the screen. LSD is one of my favorite bands. You really nailed this reaction! Being a musician, I really appreciate your analysis. This is how I listen to music, too. I'm definitely going to dive into more of your videos. Thank you!
This is My favorite band. period. Bridget owns that bass... And I don't have adequate words to describe Rachel's voice. And the guys aren't too bad either. Only band I've cared enough to see live. ❤
Thank you very much for this reaction, love lake street dive, and seeing what reactions fills my heart as well as Eve's reactions. please react to more than like street dive , my favorites are "Don't Make Me Hold Your Hand" "What I'm Doing Here" " "I Want You Back" On a Boston Sidewalk"
Thanks for the reaction video on this one Tony, watching you react and then deconstruct this beautiful track endorses my feelings about the song. It’s actually quite an emotional watch. This is a nicely mixed and beautifully produced version by the way but there are also a couple of live studio versions around. Worth a watch to see how tight and talented this group really are. Thanks again.
I remember listening to John Mayer's latest album on Spotify and when it ended Spotify played me similar songs and I heard this song it was a nice surprise
So glad you got to discover them for the first time. I first came upon them a few years ago and was BLOWN AWAY by how great they are. They are my favorite group now!
Thank you for this detailed reaction and analysis of one of my favorite songs by my favorite working pop band. Their latest album, Good Together, was released in June 2024.
SUPERCHICKENS FOREVER, Tony! Lifelong Seahawks fan here. Been on the bus since '76. And yeah, we shoulda run the Goddamn ball 🤣 And yeah, Lake Street is smooth as hell.
Rachael needs to do a MyTapestry album of pop songs with LSD’s killer backup arranging. A cross between a Carpenter’s and a Carol King album! An Earth Shattering breakthrough release into the next level. Clean and simple! They everything they need to do it. Pick the charts and do it!
For me, this isn't even in their very top tier of songs. Which doesn't mean you shouldn't be impressed. It's impressive. Its just that they get even better.
@PMJonte You took the time to write so I'm telling you WHY. Your astute observation of other content creators not using this approach is correct, and they are 100% in the wrong. They can easily face penalties and lose their channel if it comes down to it. I won't. Besides... the point here is to talk and envelope music that you are already familiar with. Direct plays should happen outside of an analysis channel
Bridget Kearney is the bassist and she's a force to be reckoned with. She writes many of the songs in addition to bass and backup vocals. She's got solo work too.
Thx for her name!

I remember hearing this for the first time and thinking “… damn that’s good” truly fantastic writing.
Lake Street Dive is a new discovery for me and I have been checking around different videos. There hasn't been a disappointment yet. Talented musicians that let their talent shine through how they play for the song instead of to show off chops - everything was perfect for the song!
The group is so good
Your telling me......!!!!!
This is such a great song I can't believe it only has a 1% ctr. SAD!! LOL
Ctr is Click Through Rate, I assume.
@@jetman2045. correct. This song is so good and is just sad that folks only click on titles they know

They are one of my favorite bands. Really great live!
The lyrics reveal a cool story line. y@@DrumRollTonyReacts
This band should be much bigger. They are a breathe of fresh air in a desert of modern music.
Yea I agree 1 thousand peecent
The best ... really ! I've been listening for a while now and I laugh/cry everytime ! It's the musicianship that is key here. True people. Just something.😊
They ARE. big! Just played Madison Square Garden!! I had the pleasure of seeing them in Philly a few nights ago.
The singer is world class IMHO. You should check out " what I'm doing here".

One of the most inspiring "You've gotta hear this!" commentaries I've ever heard. Thank you Tony. I too am grateful.
Lake Street Dive is the entire package.
Wow, that song slapped. So clean

I need to watch more of them
Thank you for this detailed reaction and analysis of one of my favorite songs by my favorite working pop band. Their latest album, Good Together, was released in June 2024.
Good Kisser and Rabid Animal are my favorite Lake Street dive songs. They're amazing.
I heard them for the first time today--I agree with you--they're the smoothest.
Wow this was great!
Yea for sure!
This song would be great in a movie!
Awesome reaction! Do you hear and see that it's an upright bass?
I do see and hear it. Great player
Saw this group on S. Cober and immediately got into the groove … tasty nice ! Um um good !
never a sloppy moment with LSD..so tight
SUPERCHICKENS FOREVER, Tony!
Lifelong Seahawks fan here. Been on the bus since '76. And yeah, we shoulda run the Goddamn ball 🤣

Haha! Awesome and.... yea we sound have.
Headed to the stadium right now!

Lo❤e Lake Street Dive!
Anybody else feel a bit of Randy Crawford vibe out this?
For me, this isn't even in their very top tier of songs. Which doesn't mean you shouldn't be impressed. It's impressive. Its just that they get even better.
I definitely need more
Hearing LSD for the first time is like finding a $100 bill on the sidewalk
Agreed
Too many pauses. Good luck to you.
The correct amount for using copyrighted material on youtube and how to actually qualify for fair use legally.
I get what you're saying, but it doesn't seem to be universally true across all content creators. It's no big deal. It just doesn't flow for me.
