As a past Rutgers football i have nothing but respect for Mr.Schiano for elevating Rutgers Football at the national level! He made Rutgers a competitive football team and we went to many Bowl championships. It was one of the few great things about NJ. After he left there was a gaping hole left and the Rutgers athletics hit rock bottom. Look around NFL you will see guys who played under Schiano. McCourty brothers, Duron Harmon, Mohammed Sanu, Ray Rice(before the infamous incident), Kenny Britt etc. etc. I wish him, Rutgers University and the state of NJ all the best. This man makes men out of boys and that too with a lot of discipline. Eric Legrand is an example of that. Keep Chopping RU nation!
Wow. Georgia Bulldog fan. I knew this guy's resume, but I have never heard him speak. Very impressive. If winning the press conference means anything . . . Rutgers just hit a home run!
@jim johnston those Tennessee fans were ridiculous with that whole situation. That fanbase is off the rails. A mediocre program that thinks they belong with all the elites. Whatever they missed out on a good coach, and now hes back home.
I'm not a Rutgers fan but they hit a grand Slam on getting this guy as the head. Just look and listen to him it says it all. He probably will at the least make Rutgers relevant. Tennessee lost out big time but hiring this guy.
Greg Schiano is a Good Coach.... people in NJ know this Guy if you Look at PJ fleck he's been talking about preparations and that's Coach Schiano is built for be Prepared in every game "Keep Chopping" till there is light...
@buckeyesfan2222 NJ has lots if talents, look at OSU, UM, ALA and see how many NJ kids on their rosters. If he can get those kids to stay home they'll be real good.
@@Bluechip21 He was more successful than it seems. The Rutgers job was the most difficult in the nation when he took over. I remember the days when people said, and believed, Rutgers would *never* get to a bowl game, let alone win 6 out of 7 and five in a row. It took from 2001 to 2004 for him to build something that even remotely resembled a real program, so for the most part, I throw out the first 4 years (12-34 record) when judging his success. Once his program was built, he went 56-33 his last 7 years and had assembled what would have been his best recruiting class yet in his final year. I'm very grateful for Vols nation. What a gift! Rutgers Nation has seen what Greg can do up close.

Im a vol fan and im glad he didnt end up in tenn!!!! So if that makes me dumb,so be it!!!!!!
That's part of the reason but aside from that he wasn't a successful Head coach.
