Magnificent video! Very interesting to see this festival with the performance of drummers, national dances, national costumes and beautiful music. Thank you very much, dear friend Thomas! I really like and expect to continue!)) Have a happy new week! Greetings from Russia!
Thank you very much dear Natalya - I am happy you liked it. Haha... thank you very much, I will "continue", but next video will be a very different type of video from a very new and modern place! ^_- Best wish to you from me in Japan..... Thomas
This is wonderful Thomas! I love the kimonos and yukatas and the dances! Awesome! I love watching the ways and customs of other cultures! Thanks for sharing.
The beautiful sounds of the festival and traditional music, the traditional clothing and especially the kimono. Another great video. Looked a bit crowded but not too crowded.
This festival looks interesting and fascinating to me. I very much enjoy watching the drumming scene. I also very much appreciate the participation of the older generation in this festival, by performing those (old) traditional Japanese dances. Absolutely charming ! Thank you for showing us this example of Japanese culture, Thomas !
Yet another wonderful video about this amazing shrine and festival......superb footage brilliant quality and so interesting to watch....thank you for sharing this with us...
Congratulations on a brilliant presentation Thomas. Superb camera angles that more than compensates for the ok-ish sound. Loved every second of it my friend. :-) Keep those videos comin :-)
Hey James, Thanks so much for your (too) kind comment. (the check is in the mail ^_-) - Nah seriously, pleased you liked it, despite the less than average sound. Have a great new week James.... Best regards, Thomas
This video is so beautiful! It looks totally different from the last one at night. The festival looks so exciting and fun and the drum play was very powerful. The drummers looked like they were having good time, not just a task to do. I love kimono and yu kata, I'll find a chance to wear it one day. (so many plan and promises to myself in all your videos ^^) If don't count the sound problem, which I totally understand, everything is perfect. Great job Thomas! Gail

i am still fascinated by the drumming part, specially the young man you were focusing on in the beginning and end - it looks like it really was a spiritual experience for him. The dance performance is also very nice, but the very best part is the last, with everyone, young and old, participating. It communicates an indescribable feeling of unity. Thanks again for posting these wonderful videos!... ma
netwitch56 Of course not. i do not know anything about Japan or Japanese culture. Just beginning to learn a little bit (as much as my time allows) by Thomas's videos:-)
You have no idea how i LOVE this video! The traditional dress is so beautiful. In my view Japanese Kimono and Indian Sari are the most refined and and beautiful ladies' dress ever. If you have a video showing a lot of Kimonos somewhere in your hundreds of uploads, please send me the link... if not, please make one :-))
This was a real good one to watch. Loved the drums and singing. The dancing was cool. Thank you for sharing this one with us. Have a wonderful day. Take care.
great vid Thomas! really nice to see those boys playing the drums and the ladies dancing barefoot and lots of elderly people and even children dancing traditional dances...Japan so modern and so traditional I´d say Japan live in the future but never forget the past.
Hi Thomas, beautiful four day holiday, love the dancing, drums, kimonos and the happy feeling of the video, it's a wonderful thing to be able to see the culture/traditions of others, fantastic job, you always do a great job filming, wishing you a happy week, Lexi :)

Rose-Marie
Good evening Thomas, and thank you for this very, very wonderful video. I love the atmosphere of a matsuri so much, and it was so nice to see everyone enjoying a good time. Fantastic work as always Thomas. "Thumbs up" ^__^
Goodevening to you as well purple woman! ^_- Very happy you liked the atmosphere of this place, and yes, it was fun to see 3 (sometimes 4) generations "dancing to the same song". And most amazing of all, if there had been a festival with so many people in the west, you can be sure there would have been some kind of violense or fight during those 4 days with so many people... but here... nothing. ^_-
Very interesing video relation, Thomas. When I watched it I felt like I was there. I think there was a little too much close up shots, but I can handle with it :) Best regards! Greg.
Awesome video of Mitama Matsuri festival, dear friend! The drumming part was so powerful and impressive and all the other parts of the show were also great! Thank you for sharing. It was very interesting to see this festival. Have a great week ahead, my dear friend! :)

Really interesting festival Thomas,what a place,what a crowd,everything different,everything so interesting,enjoyed;)

A great day indeed ! Are the theatre plays always played only by men ? And sorry if I'm curious but the "dance" at the end looks like Taï shi shuan ( but faster), is it almost the same ? Excellent documentary my dear Thomas.
Have a nice week
J
Dear J, Thanks so much - and thanks for watching that day that also happened to be "my great day" - happy you liked it ^_- Oh yes, that specific dancing-ceremony is called "Bon Oodori" and is dedicated to the spirits of the ancestors. (I can see why you find it similar to Tai Shi) It was quite fun to watch, it starts with only the elderly woman at the stage "dancing" in a circle, then after a while, more and more circles of festival-goers makes new circles around them.
(it started with only 1 circle, and ended with 5 or 6.... - Good sports!)
Best regards,
Thomas
Great video !
Cheers Pat - many thanks.
Thomas
cool video
Beautiful!!!
Oh does it now? LOL.... 1. I am not Japanese. 2. You don't really have a case, you are just one of those ppl who're unable to move on, and occasionally pops by to spread a little hate. 3. I take it you're either chinese or korean. (those are usually the ones with an attitude like yours, still, mysteriously they flock to Japan, because deep down they love visiting a civilized country.)
I've never been to, or lived in a better country, than Japan. Very kind and friendly people everywhere, civilized, very well organised and with an extremely low crime rate. I can only think of minor things I dislike here in Japan. That's it. And oh btw, I'll make a new video of this years mitama matsuri at the Yasukuni shrine next month, I'll even dedicate it to you.
PS. One more thing: Why is it, if you have so much against Japan, why do you search for, and watch videos like this one? I mean, I don't search for things I don't like, to watch, and comment negatively. Do you have this idea, that you can "convince" people that your opinion is the one and only true one, or something like that?
Piękny film, pozdrawiam Thomas:):)
Thank you so much Barbara! ^_-
Best regards from Japan to you.....

Das ist für uns Europäer schon interessant. Die Besucherzahl war hoch wie ich sehe. LG Dietmar
Thank you very much Dietmar, and yes, 300.000 people visited this matsuri.
Wow.
LG?
ultraryman LG is short for "loving regards" in german.
Danke!
