I'm a huge fan of Enya E6S strings. They have become my "go to" strings when I want a replacement set for a new uke. Even though I was already partial, your comparison just confirmed they will continue to still be my choice! Thank you!
I know what you mean! I generally like Martin 600 strings, Worth Clears, UkeLogic, or Living Waters. The Martins are the easiest for me to get.
Great comparison, Chris! Speaking of easier to press down... I am a Martin M600 fluorocarbons user, but recently, I've noticed that they have started making deep grooves in my fingertips, especially the A string on the first fret. Do you know of any strings that are easier on "elder fingertips"? My fingers now have very little "padding" on the fingertips, so that is a concern. I went from Aquilas to D'Addarios to the Martin M600s, with easier playing as I went from one to another. Just curious if you knew of any that were senior-friendly. Thanks so much for your ever informative videos!
Hello! That's a good question. I would think that a nylon string might be your best bet for "softest" on the fingers. Fluorocarbons are pretty hard. Supernylguts (though I don't love them) might be an improvement. You could also try the actual gut strings...not sure I would do that, though!
@@UkeStuff Thanks so much, Chris. Yeah, I'm not a fan of the Aquila super nylguts either because of the thicker gauge. Have you tried the Martin M605 graphite gray polygut strings? They were a Martin/Aquila venture, so they may be thicker. They have more of a textured surface unlike the Martin M600s if I remember the ones I put on a ukulele of my husband's years ago, and may not be so sharp and "cutty". I never used them on any of my ukuleles, but maybe now I'll consider them if only for the A string, if the "Gorilla Tips" don't help me! :o). I know these fingertip covers can inhibit fretting, but we'll give it a try. Thanks so much for your input!
How do you play the little tune from the beginning. I looked on your channel and couldn't find it. I can almost make out what you're playing but not quite. I'd love to know the chords. Snowden Symphony you called it? Mark Pew?
