    I can see a use for some of those weird images, especially for surreal styles. I've also found that you shouldn't use --seed at all when trying weird. Great panoramas at the beginning and end of the video, look forward to your video on that feature.

      I haven't noticed myself yet exactly what happens differently when using --seed. Can you share some insight on why you wouldn't use --seed with --weird?

    I played with -weird while generating car and fashion designs. I got the best results with weird setting between 200 and 800. 1000 and higher rarely yielded anything interesting.

    -thx for all your videos, i don't have any of this type software yet, not sure where to begin exactly, if you've done a recent video on how a total beginner starts toward making images, and i'd like to animate them, add music and possibly lyrics...anyway any origin point you could direct me toward would be great.
    -i have watched some how to vids but they aren't exactly specific on what to download to get started, what costs there are, PC specs, what kind of storage capacity images, vids, voice, music would likely take up, do people often store their info on their PCs or on the cloud, etc?
    -again thx for your videos, one thing that came to mind while watching this one, (realize i don't have any of this software so this may be, well, naive in a way)...
    -since the images were getting simpler and "less weird" at times with a higher weird setting, is it possible to use a negative number for that setting? just curious.
    -thx for any reply and/or beginner advice.
    -(ok i did go to the midjourney site and found out among some other things that weirdness can't be negative)

      Yeah, I haven't made a video about how to get started with Midjourney, because I felt that there is so many videos about it already out there that I didn't really have anything new to contribute on that topic. But basically you don't actually have to install anything on your computer, you would just need a Discord account. Yes you can download discord on your computer too, but you can use it in a browser just as well. Midjourney doesn't have a free plan currently, but the cheapest is I think 10 dollars per month. And generating the images runs entirely on cloud compute, nothing on your own computer. And animation stuff can be done with various different tools, I usually list them in the descriptions of my videos. Most of them you just need to sign up for and they have kind of a free trial usually.

    It would have been good to see some lower weird values. I have been using 50 and 100 just to add a little flair

    One thing that comes across as you view these is that there are default images that MJ falls back on over and over. The same thing with styles. The worst offender is it always assumes you want a picture of a young woman with flowers. Somebody at MJ needs to turn the flower slider down. I agree with you, Weird is not very useful. Maybe that will change.

    I think it's fair to say that as is the weird parameter is pretty much useless. Confirms what I felt when I tried it.

    How do you create your first image ? (from 00:00 to 01:30)
    I mean how can you create a big image and expand it on one side ?
    Thanks.

    • @thaeyne
      @thaeyne  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I did that by using the new pan feature. I haven't yet made a video on that, but I'll sure do that soon along with a tutorial on how to do that. But basically I just panned the same image over and over again until I got one big image that I then panned using my video editing tool.

      I had the same question, is the new pan feature part of midjourney ? How do you prompt it ? -pan 500 for example ? Which video editing tool to you use … The problem with “weird” is that Midjourney is trying to imitate/guess how a human would draw, paint, photograph etc, as it is never 100%, there is always by definition an element of weirdness in every MJ picture, to add the weird parameter is too much intellectual overload for AI, on the one hand asked to execute the image like a human would, and and to make it weird at the same time, seems to be conflicting values, quite contradictory, a real headache for AI, the resulting bland images at -weird 3000 seem to reflect MJ indecision, not knowing what to do, so doing nothing …

      @@helgae5311 You can see the entire process for it here: th-cam.com/video/jAIweWoD0z8/w-d-xo.html
      But basically you cannot prompt it. You first create an image and then after you do an upscale to an image you will see lots of buttons. The arrow buttons are the pan feature. You can pan it either up or down or side to side. At first you can see all 4 directions you can pan to. Midjourney will look at half of the image depending on the direction you selected and then it just makes the image wider or taller based on that half of the image. Then you can repeat the same process quite many times, depending on the aspect ratio of your image. And the end result should be a really wide image that you can then pan with the help of a video editor.

      Many thanks for your detailed reply, I will definitely give it a try, but cannot wait until you publish a tutorial on this topic. I have become a dedicated follower of your captivating tutorials, they are a great pleasure to watch, even independent of their pedagogical content.

    They also recommended using the same value for stylize and weird...

    • @thaeyne
      @thaeyne  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That they did, but as it is impossible to use stylize 3000, I went with 1000 for all of them as a middle ground.

    Thaeyne, it seems that weird is of small use if nothing at all: Do you know what's the purpose of this style? (cursed worked better)

    • @thaeyne
      @thaeyne  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't really like it that much either and I don't know the actual purpose of it. I guess a way to make some different stuff. I don't think I'll be ever using the weird parameter again beyond just testing it out for the purposes of this video.
