Wow, a really good discussion today. BOE made quite a few strong points that many in our community would agree with. I can definitely see his arguments and find some similarities in my feelings as well, however I don't necessarily mind "modernized" Star Wars content, but sometimes it's best to stay within certain boundaries and not intentionally try to alienate longtime fans. You should be able to have great storytelling with the modern flare, that's not in your face defiance of what people like and have come to love about the franchise.
All that said, one big thing that stands out to me from this series so far, knowing that there's only one episode left, is that while there have been some Sith elements for sure, this show was pitched as a Sith show and for me, has fallen a little bit short so far. That said, this last episode could blow me away and totally change that, fingers crossed, so I guess we'll just have to see.
I'm still holding out judgment for the series as a whole until after the last episode is out and we've had a chance to soak it in and discuss it. But so far I've still not been able to overcome some of the lazy writing and some of the more ridiculous aspects, as Martyn has pointed out happened in this episode.
At the same time, I definitely think the show is getting way more hate and negativity then is deserved. If it was about the quality of the production and the story writing, I understand. But people are going overboard hating on this show for things that aren't really in the show. Oh well, I guess that's his part of it. But I sure hate to see that divisiveness no matter what content or franchise we're talking about. It's not healthy and it doesn't help.
But boy oh boy would I sure love some focus back on things that older fans have been asking for and would love to see more of. There's still so many stories out there to tell utilizing some of our favorite characters in ways that we would expect them to be acting.
And there's plenty of room for more High Republic content as well, lots of stories and details that new and old fans could like and enjoy, if done properly.
Sorry I didn't get to make more specific comments this time around and that I was on my soap box a little bit, but I really appreciate you guys covering these episodes in depth and willingness to try to keep some positivity and see all sides of it.

Your positivity is always welcome Josh and I agree with you. I couldn’t really care less about who plays who and all the rest of this so called modern day politics. I just want to get wrapped up in a good Star Wars story and be given that escapism I have felt in the past with my beloved franchise. While reserving judgement until the last episode I’m afraid to say thus far the writing and very strange plotting has not been very good. (Episode 5 was amazing!)
Fingers crossed for an explosive finale!

Hopefully the next, and last episode will join all the 'dots' to make it make sense.

Hi Guys, got to say I enjoyed watching your review a lot more than this week’s pretty dismal episode. Like you, I’ve stayed pretty positive about the Acolyte so far, but this episode left me baffled, frustrated and pretty deflated by the time the dreadful cut ending and ghastly end credits song began. Can’t really add much more to Martyn’s observations about the irrational behaviour of Sol, Indra and that hapless, pasty, selfish cry baby Torbin. What the heck has happened to the disciplined, selfless, noble Jedi?! I think the ultimate reveals were not particularly clever, original or at all satisfying because of the poorly written character motivations. Again, I felt much of the acting was laboured and wooden. Mother Anasaya is by far the best actor on screen this week, even Sol seemed bad this week. My optimism for next week is a bit low at the moment, I hope they can salvage something from this, but Im not confident. My score this week, a pitiful 2.5. Congratulations BOE and Happy Birthday Adam 🎉.
Thanks Scott 👍👍🙏 I think there has been a coming together by everyone this week about how bad this episode really was. I too have been positive about the show up until the last 2 episodes and it’s such a shame. I hope we can get your opinions on the finale next week Scott in some form or another as we are going to reconvene the Jedi Council for the final episode 😉

Great review gents. I'm right there with you as this being the lowest rated episode for me...shame because the penultimate episode should have something shocking in it and this one just fell flat.
I honestly don't know why Torbin took the poison in the second episode but I'm glad that character is dead. He was a crappy whiny padawan and I doubt he was much of a Jedi. I liked Master Indara in the first episode, but I do not understand any of her choices in this episode. You are a group of Jedi researching a vergence in the Force (a very rare thing) and you come across a group of dark side force wielders and instead of acting you....phone it in to the council???? I can kind of get a bit from Torbin 's manipulation from the coven might make him act erratic, but this was just odd behavior. I much prefer the Master Sol of present day than the Sol of 16 years ago....what the hell?
I don't see how they're going to stick the landing in the last episode...hope they prove me wrong. I'm rating this week's episode a 3 out of 10.

I'll try and stay positive as hard as that is after this episode. I enjoyed the Kelnacca fight, and the zabrak witch trying (and failing) to fight Sol. As for the rest...

I agree! This episode made the least sense to me. Shame as I have 'quite' liked it so far but the last 2 episodes haven't been the best! Roll on a kick ass finale with a tonne of action and some kick ass cameos!🤞 👍👍🙏
