@@schlosserh Because life in a container is colder during the winter, and best to find them a permanent home in the landscape, water them well and look forward to watching them grow from there. But if you live in a warmer climate there is no need to do this.

And those plants can easily be substituted with a different sweet potato vine and a different torenia such as Catalina Midnight Blue, which is available. Yes, they are perennials that you can then pull from the container in the fall, and relocate them to your landscape.
Why do you need to remove them from the container for the fall?

Love it. Are the plants perennial in the pots. Love to do the same.in my shady backyard.
You can start with the perennials in a pot, and then move them to your landscape in fall and water well until the ground freezes.
