First time I solo, it was a very windy day, and high swells. I couldn't figure out to reef, my sails, ended up running just the main sail since I didn't want to overpower the boat. It was embarrassing, but I did learn what not to do. So I know his pain.
After years of being in small power boats that were only made for sheltered waters my first time sailing was with the owner and a friend who were both drinkers, neither were interested in actually sailing the boat so gave me a quick tutorial and they continued drinking which suited me just fine, as we sailed out past Lion Island (Pittwater Australia) the swell suddenly got huge so I turned into it as you would in a power boat but the owner quickly grab the tiller and put us back to almost side on and before I shit myself we lifted up and over with hardly a change in heel, it was then that I was hooked, I spent the rest of the day barreling around the island as well as outside to Palm Beach then on return surfing the same swell only bigger back in... there were a lot of boats out but only three of us with sails up, one of which I was racing and actually beating (heeled over with up to 6” of the deck in the water) I questioned the lack of sails only to be told “it’s too windy to be sailing today” His girlfriend did warn me that he was dangerous but hey, ignorance can be fun and his little 26’ boat was built to race, the only luxury it had was a head, there were no berths or seating of any kind in the cabin: it was obvious they could be built into it but he built it himself in New Zealand and only ever intended to race it... it’s a day I’ll never forget.
I’m hoping to be able to sail full time someday, but as I’m only 17, it could be a few more years until that’ll be possible. Must be nice being able to travel wherever you want at any time!
using a drone and getting a farther away 3/4 angle of the waves/vessel would prob give a better showing of how big the waves truly are , but , trying to launch and retrieve a drone in rougher seas is pro not a great idea
Aww, not getting notifications for the premieres! A little birdie says you have a bad word on your vid, tsk tsk. 😜 Thanks for sharing, and thanks to Myloh for letting you put him on blast, lol!
Mylo is a stud. No sailing experience and buys a 50ft boat then hires someone to teach him. You are a rare breed my friend. All the best to you. Good call on not having a lady friend along for this stage…

1st timer handling a 51 ft boat -- he seems be doing a fine job -- impressive. So fortunate to be out there -- looks dreamy.
Mr. Latitudes!

Watch Sailing Florence. I don't know how she does it but she catches the waves really well. It's incredible cinematography.
You walked right past the beer!
NO Rockstars! How do you function?
I ran out on this trip. ,,then I get grumpy
Is Milo retired? He seems pretty young.
He's mid 40s, I'd call it semi retired

Was just going to comment that the swells don't show up on the video .

RRR
too much profanity = dislike and leave in the first 25 seconds....that should be edited out...a business should not have such mess
Move along Randall…
I have about 600 videos, there is profanity in maybe 3 of them,
They’re on a sail boat, means they’re sailors. Don’t you know what sailors do. They ride sailboats, say bad words, and drink rum.
