What are your thoughts on the new update? My only current personal grievance is the way the menu looks... I thought the old one looked fantastic compared to this new... Kinda cartoony layout. Also, it crashes now, but I'm not holding it against them a day after this update, since Im not certain what's causing it yet.
+Jarod Walker I don't like the new UI as much either, but I think they plan on redoing some aspects of it. It was originally worse than this in the test build and on console, surprisingly. And I like and dislike parts of it. I'm mostly enjoying Vytro from the new mechs, but I actually think I like the removal of inertia from boosting even though initially I thought I wouldn't. At least combined with the increased Scout speeds, anyway. Aside from the UI I dislike not having garage access in matches or between them but I guess that's sorta UI-related and something they plan on bringing back. I don't like Brawler being even stronger than it was or the new Gren. I don't have a ton of experience playing with good ping yet so I'm reserving my final judgement for after I do
Thanks so much for replying! I'm still vastly unaware of what all they changed... But if they took inertia from boosting, that means a lot of old movement options have now changed then, huh? I'll have to read up on the notes, but I've been having issues with the game now crashing when starting up matches, or trying to launch in the middle of one. Not sure what's going on there, but I'll dig around to see.
They've changed some (in particular you can't only dodge to the side during boosts if you want to save fuel, but hopping and hopping+dodging both work), but you can also do a lot of things you couldn't before to outmaneuver people. Do you have your .ini stock or did you edit it for a better framerate or something? Some people who did that were having issues with crashing and a few other things. But if not I'd either wait until the end of the soft launch period if you want to put off filing a support ticket or if not just do that now. The more people who file a ticket with the same problem just increases the chance they'll do something about it.
I will most likely put in a ticket, but I also didn't change any ini settings beforehand. I was just playing with Hawken doing what Hawken does out of the box. I was able to get two matches in, the crashes were strangely inconsistent and would come and go, so I'm not entirely sure. My problem was different than any I read about. Either way, that doesn't bother me too much at the moment, as the game is free and I've only put a little bit into it. I just look forward to playing with the new movement more, as I already noticed pretty much every mech I used felt different in some way.
oh the updated is finally out? I finally accepted the fact that my computer can't run this game, I'm tried of playing at 25 fps at minimum settings... So until I can afford a custom PC, you won't be seeing me online :/
It might still be worth giving the update a shot since some people are getting better FPS after the move to DX11. It's the opposite for others, but it's noticeably better in some cases.
this game runs even in the most crap Pc, my old PC a i3 with a Nvidia 620gt and 4GB of Ram runned it in ultra graphics withouth any problem, i sent to the garbage all my old components long ago and bought a new graphic card and new components for my Pc, i sugest you do the same

I'm running an ancient gtx 755 mobile, and the Kepler generation is sort of on par time-wise with dx9, but i'll give it a shot anyways
