I have a very eclectic list: Pat Metheny, Jimi Hendrix, John McLaughlin, Jimi Page, Larry Carlton, Eric Johnson, Satch, Vai, Alex Lifeson, Andy Summers, Al Di Meola, Joni Mitchell, Prince, Steve Hacket, Steve Howe, Allan Holdsworth, I could go on and on...
Marc is the coolest dude around. Amazing guitarist, amazing voice, incredible songwriter...what's not to love? Wife and I will be seeing you in Norco in a week...can't wait!
Thank you for this one Warren! As a lifelong Keith Emerson fan I started watching the video out of interest, totally not expecting this invaluable lesson on musicianship and creativity.
So glad this started with the Kevin Gilbert mention. I was crazy about KG's music and the first time I saw him at Slims in San Fran Marc was on guitar. Marc was amazing! Thanks for this interview Warren!
Don't recall if I've ever sat through a TH-cam video that long. But it was worth every second. It was both educational and inspiring. Never gonna question where ideas come from again. Channeling it is!
Been a fan of Marc for the last 10 years as it was when I first discovered him, what a great and insightful interview this was! Nice to hear his love and appreciation of gentle giant too, John “Pugwash” weathers is from my hometown and have met him on several occasions over the years.
This is the best funniest interview of all time, amazing stories and the audio clips are just amazing! I love Marc Bonilla, he is so funny- I get all of his humor! Miss Kevin so much, what another genius...
Marc is a inspirational human i have followed since I have been exposed to him 1980's era. My favorite show piece to ones who strangely are not aware, is Fanfare For The Uncommon Man: The Official Keith Emerson Tribute Concert (Live) . Great Gates of Kiev . The best live recording of A list musicians performing immaculately performed and captured. Especially Marc's vocal. According to my diving, he had lost his voice the entire week building to the concert. And killed every tune he had sung lead or backup to. What an incredible Musician.
I recently had the opportunity to chat with Marc for about 30 minutes and he is an incredibly humble guy, and a great storyteller. I wish our conversation could have gone on longer. Of course, as a musician and guitarist, he is absolutely outstanding. I just love him 🎸🎶❤️
I remember when Marc and Kevin hosted the Mark & Brian show. Brian used to come to some of my gigs back in the day. That Toy Matinee album was something special and Marc is a fantastic musician. Kevin Gilbert was a genius.
I start to listen to this interview casually, but the more I listened the more was I engrossed. Great stuff, fun and informative, thank you so much. Marc is awesome.
While telling some amazing stories this dude gives a masterclass in defining flow state as a mental perspective….regardless of what you’re doing that could benefit from it….
Please, please, PLEASE do an episode on Kevin Gilbert. I'm sure Wayne and Nick (among many others, such as Marc) would love to share the love and spread awareness of one of the all-time greats.
Never heard of Marc, but clicked on the video anyway because your videos are always so good. Sooooooooo glad I did!!! Only half way through and it is already AMAZING!!
Also, kudos to you! Some people need to be led. Some need to run free. It is a sign of a great interviewer to know the difference. And you're a great interviewer because you could feel that you should not interrupt him to ask questions about the details of what he was saying. 👍
What a great video Warren! Easily one of my favourite interviews! As a guitarist playing the violin for some years now, and also composing and orchestrating, this explained to me a lot about stuff I never realised. The organic nature of an orchestra is indeed the most fundamental basic of it's sound.
Marc is one cool cat…so many interesting stories of working with Keith…such a great interview…thank you Warren! You continue to raise the bar on this type of content!
Please check out Kevin Gilbert’s work if you haven’t, particularly Toy Matinee, Giraffe, and his solo work (“The Shaming Of The True” is a conceptual masterpiece). To me, the Toy Matinee album is absolute perfection - writing, performance, production, mixing - each and every aspect is impeccable. And although Marc didn’t perform on the Toy Matinee album, in live performances to promote the album he and Kevin’s musicianship and vocals are so in sync that you’d assume they were twins or had played together for years and years.
What a character! Somehow I've never heard Mark play (or at least I never knew it was Mark), and definitely never heard him talk. You can tell that Keith loved him and vice versa, and I can see why.
When Marc Bonilla produced Glenn Hughes ‘Addiction’ albums, apparently he suggested to Glenn that he reign in his Soul-esque vocal inflections and sing the album more straight ahead. I was hoping that Marc would have mentioned those album sessions. Marc’s production talents really came through on ‘I Don’t Want To Live That Way Again’.
Marc is a fountain of insight and inspiration! Amazing interview! Devin Townsend sayd similar things about channeling music that is always there and can be used (or not). Was that Mike Keneally on the left side on one of the photos from the radio show?
Wes Montgomery is my desert isle guy. This was one of your best Warren and Marc. I saw the Jeff Beck Blow by Blow tour in Boston in the mid seventies. 11 piece Mahavishnu Orch. opened. Narada MW on drums and Ralph Armstrong on bass. John was using a LP with mini humbucks and a 1 12 Mesa Boogie combo. JB had his black album cover LP with a Marshall head and a Fender 1 15 Showman cab. nard Purdie on drums and Max Middleton on keys. To be honest JM sounded like a bunch of angry bees compared to JBs much more Powerful tone and his economy of notes taught me the in Good Music Often LESS IS MORE!!!! Use Space as one of your SONIC WEAPONS!!!!! and I am a big JM fan as well. Saw him with Shakti open for the new Jaco Weather Report, also in Boston, and he really shined!!! Keep up the GREAT WORK!!!
Al Pitrelli, Brian May, Nancy Wilson, The Edge, KK Downing, Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt, Robert Johnson, and many others but that gives you an idea of the variety of my tastes GREAT question...hadda THINK!! 😜
Warren, I have been actually for quite a while wondering how come you still didn`t invite Glenn Hughes for an interview! Come on, what a phenomenon vocalist he is!
soooo i did a search on youtube for Star Trek The Lust Episode...cmon it sounded like a great!! way to kill 15 minutes but.... there were pages and pages of all kinds of STUFF!! regarding all the different series surrounding the show but i could not parse out the needed link damn frickin trekies!!! 😋😛😜🤪😝
Who are some of your favourite guitarists of all time?

I wanted to be Randy Rhodes more than life itself.
Mike Einziger from Incubus, you should interview them! 😃
Metheny, Jeff Beck, Eric Johnson
Such a humble, down to earth guy. Always nice to people like us in high school even though he was BMOC and so popular Glad to see his success

Certainly a great guy!

@@Producelikeapro You're welcome. It's an honor to be part of the conversation.
Bonilla....great musician and ...as I hear...great in expressing concepts and in telling stories...
Many thanks!
What an entertaining interview!! Absolutely loved it! Star Trek Lust episode would've been enough, but man, the stories & the PLAYING!!!!!

Awesome interview. I like all the channeling talk. Very cool! Thanks, Warren and Marc!

Captain Kirk’s Chair. What a great slice of the story. Keith Emerson was at a genius level for his era. Fun interview.
Really enjoyed the episode. Lovely guy. Thanks Warren. 🎸🎷

Yes, huge talent, big fan!
Badass, cant believe he just picked up his guitar and played that!
