ڈیرہ غازی خان پنجاب ایک ایسا ضلع ہے جو چاروں صوبوں سے ملتا ہے اور یہ ضلع رقبہ کے لحاظ سے پورے پنجاب میں سب سے بڑا ہے مغربی پٹی میں کوہ سلیمان میں ایک خوبصورت وزٹنگ پوائنٹ فورٹ منرو ہے، جبکہ شہر کی مشرقی سائیڈ میں دریائے سندھ اپنی موج میں بہہ رہا ہے۔ اس ضلع میں ٪60 بلوچ قبائل اباد ہیں۔
19 ویں صدی کے شروع میں انے والے سیلاب نے شہر کو صفائی ہستی سے ہی مٹا دیا تھا 1902 میں برٹش گورنمنٹ نے اس کو ری کنسٹرکٹ کیا جو اج کل موجودہ ہے۔
