I have re-watched this series at least 4 times in the last 7 or 8 years. It never gets old. The first 5 seasons are near perfection!

I watched WW in it’s prime here & there but not enough to understand it’s story lines. Couldn’t understand why people over the years talked about watching the series more than once. Prompted by a marathon on HLN after Christmas 2022, I started watching it. After several days I realized it was on HBOMAX. I binged watched every episode (thank goodness I’m retired!)
I now fully understand 1000% why it’s viewed more than once. I have looked at numerous TH-cam episodes & I also read some FanFics websites about it. It was absolutely an outstanding show. I know I will watch it again before the year is over. I actually got bummed as I got down to the last few episodes, knowing I was almost finished.

It used to run all the time on Bravo. I'm pretty sure I used to watch it before work. I was on the West Coast and it would be on when I woke up (I think).

A nice touch in this scene is Josh's comically overstuffed wallet.

There's a scene from Madam Secretary (before it became Madam President) where their version of the deputy Secretary of State gets the call because Tea Leoni's character elects to NOT evacuate and accept her fate when they think an all-out Russian first strike is in progress. It gets called off because it was a simulation gone wrong, but later that night the deputy SecState is with his friends from the West Wing and they're joking with him about it, and he douses the conversation with cold water in the sense that he didn't think it was funny in the slightest because for all he knew, he'd be underground in some bunker while the rest of them would be dead.

From the getgo, Josh was my favourite character. I don't remember this particular scene this vividly, but Bradley Whitford rose to stardom with this character. And rightly so.

It took me several times through the series to realize it, but he's my favorite character too. For the longest time I believed my favorite character was Toby (a close second!), but I just wanna hang out and drink beer with Josh.

When you think about it, Josh is the core of the group. Early on it is outright stated Bartlet won because of Josh, and he fights tooth and nail every chance he gets to defend the administration and its ideals. And every time Josh is at his weakest the gang comes together for him. Sam steps right up to act as his council when Josh got subpoenaed over Leo's drug addiction. CJ comes in to tell Josh he needs to take it down a few notches, usually with the louder voice. And Leo is there to be the dad.
Sometimes I think The West Wing was us watching what made Josh become President Santos's Chief of Staff.

I think this was one of the most low key deep moments of the entire series, or rather, the moment Josh knew what the gravity of getting that kind of access was, when he went and talked to Sam about it, and Sam never knew what he was talking about😮

I keep coming back to this little mini-speech, a creed even: "I think it's a white flag of surrender. I want to be a comfort to my friends in tragedy, and I want to be able to celebrate with him in triumph, and for all the times in between I just want to be able to look him in the eye."

Josh's moral compass seemed wavering, but in crisis ----- it's clear. He's not doing this for power. He doing this b/c he believes. And this ep demonstrates that by how he wants the card to go away.
