I think I would have left the husband there to suffer the consequences of his drinking. He's a big boy. He knows his drinking is a problem, but he doesn't care. Sometimes, you have to let them hit rock bottom before they see their need for change. It's called tough love. If he gets nasty with you after this I wouldn't have anything to do with him. He needs to learn about the consequences of his actions. He beat you and kicked you out on your own with a baby, with no money and no help. No woman should have to put to put up with that ever! If you start to see a lot of change that is lasting, use your own best judgment.
