The title is a bit misleading. These aren't in order from least-most rare, this is in order of decreasing average surface area in a world. Having less surface area doesn't necessarily make it harder to find.

Yes, wooded badlands, snowy taiga hills, and giant tree taigas all cover WAY more surface area than desert lakes, but they have much less of a spawn rate, making them rarer. Im not just talking about my own experience, it's literally in the game's coding.

I was looking for a place to build a nice, cozy mansion.. we had spawned in a jungle, but my friend wanted to build in a plains biome. I liked the jungle. We walked for a long time until FINALLY we found a jungle and plains beside each other. I found an amazing hill leading down to a river with a flat spot at the top surrounded by jungle trees that I loved. Turns out it was the rarest one on the list..

I spawned in a Jungle Biome, (my main minecraft world.) I always build my homes in plains, so the closest plain was 1000 blocks away. From there, The Ocean was 600 blocks away. The nearest village was 1,200 blocks away. Ice Spikes biome was 1,800 blocks away.
I renember spawning in some badlands when the update came out. It was named mesa and what I didn't knew is that there were no trees nor peacefull mobs, when night fell I hid in some water chamber inside a mesa. Ah, memories...
Pretty sure there are more factors to rarity than how much land a biome may cover, right.?? Regardless, it was a neat video. I didn't know about a lot of these combinations.

I got a seed with an end city spawn that was the one with the ship ( where you get the elytra ).
I pearled a bit further and there was another one! I walked a bit further and from my render distance, I could see ANOTHER SHIP. 3 SHIP SPAWNS.
Welp, guess I have 3 elytras and 3 dragon heads lol.
