I really like those full color pages. I have an NIV Study Bible that I picked up more than twenty years ago. I don't want to replace it but I'm really liking this new version.

I have an old NIV Study bible, it's the '84 edition so the OG text before it was revised in 2011. There was a newer version of this with a more readable font and layout that came out later with revised study notes but still the '84 text. They made a few changes with the 2011 that took some translation philosophy from the TNIV.

Just subscribed.I just picked this Bible last weekend.I love the full color pages and all the relics that it shows in detail
It's going to be great for study I also agree...the typeface is easy to read.
I purchased a Black bonded leather version. The only thing missing is Smith Sewn binding.
    Great review

Your video just popped up on my TH-cam. I use the NLT version. It is not a Bible study. It is the Thrive Devotional Bible for Women. It is a great little Bible 😁😁 l will need to see if you have done any reviews on an NLT Bible 😀😀 Any reviews on commentaries?? I have also trying my hand at Bible journaling. I love that it gets me deeper into the word. Especially when l study verse by verse

Hi Carolyn, As far as Bible commentaries go I have only done a review on the Zondervan Exegetical Commentary on The New Testament on 1,2 and 3 John. However I am about to purchase the Zondervan Exegetical Commentary on the gospel of Matthew and then continue -
The NLT translation is an excellent translation and although I think the NKJV and the NIV are great - I really love the NLT as it tends to flow really well. I am going to do a review on an NLT study Bible soon :)
Bible journaling is a wonderful way to dig deeper into the word and verse by verse is really a great way to very close study.
I like to read the chapter -then go back and look more closely to the verses.
      For the whole chapter -
What can I observe - what insights?
How can I apply it to myself ?
What lessons can I take from the event in the reading ?
Another way to apply scripture to yourself is for instance in Luke 8:22-25 - The disciples woke Him saying “Master Master, we are going to drown!”
Do you think disciples concern was valid?
When trials have come, have you ever felt like God was asleep?
In what way did your trouble cause you to ‘wake Jesus up’ and cry out for help?
      God bless you Carolyn !!!

The biblical texts are buried and overshadowed by the notes/commentaries, pictures and photos. The font size of the God's word should be made bigger than the commentaries. The reader could easily be distracted by the commentaries and pictures/photos instead of focusing on God's word.

@@sosonggosanusi5766 hi - thanks for watching. The font size is bigger than the commentary notes - it is a 10.5 font size -way bigger that the commentary notes. If you get distracted by pictures there are amazing beautiful thin line Bible with with double or single column print :)

Compare this version to the Word of the Living God for the past four hundred years to the English-speaking peoples of the world---the original manuscript in English, the Authorized King James 1611 Bible in Proverbs 18:1, and you will find that the NIV changes the Word of God into a lie, just like Satan did in the garden. Nothing new.

    • @Biblereviewsandmore
      @Biblereviewsandmore  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@johncalvert7243 hi John - The KJV is word for word translation. The New Testament was translated using the Textus Receptus (Received Text) series of Greek texts. For the Old Testament, the Masoretic Hebrew text was used, and for the Apocrypha, the Greek Septuagent text was used primarily.
The NIV and ESV is from the Critical text (the older manuscripts found) The NIV is more thought for thought and the ESV word for word. - The NIV and ESV etc has been translated from a team of over fifty biblical scholars and theologians. No translation is perfect - in fact Although the King James Version was intended to replace the Geneva Bible, the King James translators relied heavily upon this version. Bruce Metzger, in Theology Today 1960, observes the inevitable reliance the KJV had on the Geneva Bible. Some estimate that twenty percent of the former came directly from the latter.
The only translations (if you can call them that) I have issue with is the paraphrase bibles - done by a team of one.
It is good practice to have the KJV and the NKJV (which updated the Elizabethan language to make scripture more understandable for today’s reader. If the NKJV or NIV or ESV make scripture more understandable then I am all for more people coming into the kingdom of God.
There are no scriptural lies in the NIV nor in the ESV or NASB etc.
In all the manuscripts we have (well over 8,500 making up the Textus Receptus and the critical text there are minor discrepancies - only spelling or syntax or punctuation or scribal errors (such as a mistake and correction - but there is no difference at all right across all manuscripts with the biblical accounts and Christian doctrine.
The Textus Receptus and the critical text manuscripts make up our various translations with minor differences in the text -
Today, most critical editions of the Greek New Testament, such as UBS4 and NA27, consider the Alexandrian text-type (critical text) corrected by papyri, to be the Greek text that is closest to the original autographs.
Here are the differences in John 3:16
You will find the verse says and means the same thing in the various translations -
      NIV
16For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
      ESV
16“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
      NASB
16"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life
      KJV
16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
      NKJV
16For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
So people need to choose the Bible translation (NOT paraphrase) that helps them understand and embrace God’s word. Blessings - pastor Jeff

Look up Matthew 5-22 in the NIV etc and you will find out that it makes Jesus a sinner. It's say from day 1 when it was published, if you are angry with a brother you are in danger of the Judgement. Jesus was angry twice,in the temple with his brothers. This makes him a sinner because they leave out ", without a cause", plus Dr Martin woodstra who was head of the Old testament translation committee was a homosexual. Would God use such a man? No. Virginia mallincott who was a word stylist from day one was a lesbian, zondervan publishing is owned by Rupert Murdock along with harvest House and Nelson. Rupert Murdoch produces pornography among other things as well as Fox News.

Jesus got angry and upturned the tables in the temple where they were bartering - God also got angry and was slow to anger - Moses got angry when he came back down the mountain and discovered the Israelites worshipping a golden calf and smashed the stone tablets - however God/Jesus/Moses were not sinning - it was a righteous anger because of the sin that was occurring.

Hi Mark -the authors of the NIV decided to remove certain verses from the main Biblical text because “the oldest and most reliable manuscripts” do not have them. But all the verses that have been taken out are found in the footnotes.

That is what is wrong with Christians today. They claim education but not Holy Spirit. Oh, I am a biblical scholar. So were the Pharisees but they did not KNOW God. The bible is not an educational book, it is spiritual book and can only be known by the Spirit of God, not the spirit of this world. I will say again, NIV is TERRIBLE!
