We should reserve our judgement. The permanent new lamp has not yet been installed. Everyone will miss the nostalgic revolving beams and the old foghorn, but the lighthouse will continue to serve its purpose.
@@StuartMorris7 It is completely removing the character from the lighthouse. Another iconic one that has been ruined by TH is Start Point, which is completely soulless now. A great shame.
@@ajs2120 I do agree, it's not the same. I think all TH lighthouses have gone over to LEDs now. I hope to have my DVD of the story of all the Portland Lighthouses available very soon.
@@StuartMorris7 There are still quite a few with the old optics and lamps. Nash Point in Wales and Lynmouth Foreland lighthouse both have the original spinning light. Berry Head in Torquay was modernised late last year. Very sad.
