I bought an "untested" pencil in a pawn shop, I bargained it down to PLN 40 ($10), the seller agreed because he probably thought it was garbage. Of course, the Pencil turned out to be faulty. after your video, I wrapped it in a rag and put it in the air fryer for 5 minutes, 80 degrees Celsius. works perfectly :) thank you!

i gotta be honest, i had no faith whatsoever that this would work but as a last ditch effort i tried. i wrapped it in my heating pad on the highest heat for maybe 3-4 minutes, took it out, plugged it in, and it showed up immediately. this was genuinely life saving. i have not been able to get my pencil to work for weeks.

Hello. Been having exactly the same issues that you have encountered. Did you get yours to come back to life and stay alive? Got mine back up to 100 percent but as soon as I removed it from the port, nada. Still nothing. Dead again. Apple never made a big deal out of this when I spent over £100 quid on it a couple of years ago. i understand it only comes with a one year warranty but feel that at that price point, they should do better. Unfortunately I've tried everything since I really don't wanna play extra for a new pencil! 😭 Ever since I got it my pencil wouldn't connect to my iPad without Lightblue, and even then it took 15-20 minutes to get it connected... When I heat it a bunch it still doesn't work , so I may just count my losses and give in. I really appreciate your video for help! I'll definitely use this if my new one acts up. 😊 I'm an android person, but because I love to use procreate I decided to go for apple, but tbh my original opinion on apple products have been proven true. 😅

Just a slight adjustment in what worked for me. After heating the pencil, it still would not connect ( I had heated in one of those fluffy hot water bottle sleeves where you can place your hands). I then carried out two steps at the same time so I don’t know what actually fixed it. In blu tooth settings I selected forget device of the previous pencil pair record. I returned the pencil to the hot water bottle sleeve but plugged it into a charging cable for 5 to 10 minutes. Then plugged it into iPad and then 30 seconds later it could see it and functionality restored. Thanks for the vid!
When i tell you i watched this and thought... There is no way thats for real. Well i just tried it (used a hairdryer on low heat and blast for about two minutes) and it worked. Strangest fix ive ever seen. Youve earned yourself a sub good sir, keep up the good work ❤

BROOOO! I swear to god you saved my life so much, I was so stressed out about this issue, I thought that my pencil is broken and I don’t want to waste any money for it. Literally saved my life. What I did is i wrapped the Pen with a cloth and heat it using a hairdryer for a few minutes (don’t put it too close). It probably took me like 2-3 minutes and after that, I charged the pen and it suddenly works! Thank you very much! ❤

Thanks, friend. I have an Apple Pencil that had been unused for 2 years. I followed your instructions. I heated a towel and used a hot water bottle. I wrapped the Apple Pencil in the hot towel and placed the hot water bottle on top. After 20 minutes of heating, I removed and plugged the Apple Pencil into my iPad. It connected and started charging immediately.

Oh my god!!! IT WORKED!!!! I cannot believe it. I ordered used Apple Pencil 1st Generation. It wouldn't charge or even show up on my iPad. I put it under the pot filled with hot water, just like he did in the video for 15 minutes. Ok this worked for me ! But at first it didn’t. First I unpaired the pencil and did it his way with a pot of water and cloth, but that didn’t work. Then I wrapped the pencil in a rag and put it in between a flat iron on the lowest setting for 15 minutes (caution-this is potentially dangerous and WILL damage the skin of the stylus a bit) then immediately put it to charge on my iPad for 15 minutes. That still didn’t work, so without removing the pencil at all, I did a hard reset on the iPad, and it worked after that! Hopefully this will help someone else who’s pencil didn’t work at first either. I have the first gen pencil. :)

Baby heat some tap water in the microwave til it boils , Get a tea towel , pour water on tea towel Pat it a little to cool it down put that Apple Pencil right in the middle cover everything but the both end part so it doesn’t get wet Let it heat on up for 5 to 10 minutes Now on your iPad on Bluetooth Press forget pencil And then after you heat pencil Remove it from towel , should just be warm to touch , Now on blue tooth turn on and pencil should pop up when you plug it in , “Like to connect new pencil “ Yes Bammmm it works !!! I cannot believe it! I had to heat the pencil with the hot water to about 30-40 degrees - it was not loading or working anyway before (battery drained to 0% since long) - and suddenly it began to load and connect! I kept the pencil warm during first load and now it works like a charm again. No battery drain, thanks so much!
I used a heating pad on the highest setting and it worked. We had spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong. Pen is now registering on the iPad and charging normally. Thank you!!

Thanks this works !! IMPORTANT TIP ! Make sure you disconnect (forget this device) from the device. I heated it 3 times before i saw he mentioned in the comments to disconnect !

I have a brand new Apple Pencil that almost never use. Bought it December 2023, so it’s barely 6 months old and I’ve used it maybe a total of five minutes. That said it stays permanently docked on the iPad so I was surprised that the charge was down to zero. What I will say is after trying everything else, including what Apple support suggested, nothing else worked. I heated up a heating pad in the microwave for two minutes. Wrapped the pencil inside the hot pack for five minutes. After re-docking it for just 15 seconds, it was already up to 90% charge. Within one to two minutes it was fully charged again and is working just fine now. Thank you.

I have a problem with my Apple Pencil gen 1. I connect it fine, but it doesn’t write. When I disconnect it from the port, it flashes not connected. If I go to about I can see Apple Pencil option, but if I connect the Pencil it’s there twice. Also if I go to Apple Pencil settings I can see it’s charged but if I plug it in, for a while it shows it’s dead. Do you have some tip on how to fix this? I will be trying your hot water bottle method as well.
Have you tried removing it from bluetooth connection "forgot this device" and starting from scratch? Sometimes the bluetooth gets buggy. Also the tip is replaceable. They usually come with extras in the original box, but you can pick them up on eBay or Amazon.

Great video! I did your method and it jump started the pen but it keeps flickering saying it is charging to different percents at each time. how long did you charge the pen afterwards and did it work straight away??
Mine worked straight away. It's worth letting it discharge to zero and then doing it again. you can also totally remove it from iPad bluetooth settings "Forget this device" and repair it.
The ingenious ways in which people are warming their pencils up is actually hilarious. Mine is far less creative! It’s currently wrapped in a dry rag, sitting on top of a mug of boiled water. I’m hoping the steam will be enough to get it going. Edit- it worked! 😅

IT WORKED!! just heated a heat pack in the microwave for 1 minute, wrapped the apple pencil in some tissue paper and placed it on top of the heat pack for 2-3 mins and it reconnected!

It worked for me! I used the iron and protected the Apple Pencil with a towel. Just for a few seconds, test the temperature and when it is warm it is enough. Thanks!

you got the SUB. I had my pencil brand new still had a wrapper on it. never used used it once. 4 years later im trying to get it connected. I put it in a sock, in a ziplock bag and poured boiling water on top. not even 2 min later pulled it out and it WORKS

It's worth trying a few times. It worked for some after a third attempt. It's also worth removing any other pencils from the bluetooth beforehand. But, yes, sadly some pencils are just broken.
The problem i'm having is that the option to even connect the pencil isn't there, and last i used it was two weeks. I tried it once with hot water, and it didnt work. I'm going to try again but im thinking there could possibly be damages that are not visible physically on the pencil?
I would like to confirm it work! Work like a magic. At first I tried for several round. It did not work, I gave up. Then next morning I try to plug in the pencil AGAIN. The Pencil popped up and conneted 😂😂😂. Genius!

This worked in less than 5 minutes! I used a hot pack, microwaved it and then folded my pencil into the pack. It then paired! THANK YOU!!! 😊

I placed my gen 1 under the Sun for 15 minutes. And it got fixed. It’s charging again. You’re right!!! Thank you for the suggestion and solution!

Thanks, friend. I have an Apple Pencil that had been unused for 2 years. I followed your instructions. I heated a towel and used a hot water bottle. I wrapped the Apple Pencil in the hot towel and placed the hot water bottle on top. After 20 minutes of heating, I removed and plugged the Apple Pencil into my iPad. It connected and started charging immediately.
Absolutely blown away that this works!!! Currently my pencil is having a fun time glitching but its actually being recognized by my ipad!!! Thank you so much!!

Oh my god!!! IT WORKED!!!! I cannot believe it. I ordered used Apple Pencil 1st Generation. It wouldn't charge or even show up on my iPad. I put it under the pot filled with hot water, just like he did in the video for 15 minutes. And it worked!! when I connected it said 0% battery so then I charged it and finally it charged and now it's working 🎉Thank you

Ok this worked for me ! But at first it didn’t.
First I unpaired the pencil and did it his way with a pot of water and cloth, but that didn’t work.
Then I wrapped the pencil in a rag and put it in between a flat iron on the lowest setting for 15 minutes (caution-this is potentially dangerous and WILL damage the skin of the stylus a bit) then immediately put it to charge on my iPad for 15 minutes.
That still didn’t work, so without removing the pencil at all, I did a hard reset on the iPad, and it worked after that! Hopefully this will help someone else who’s pencil didn’t work at first either. I have the first gen pencil. :)
THANK YOUUUU!!! I heated up cooked rice for about 2 minutes and 30 seconds, put a paper towel over it then covered my Apple Pencil in the hot rice…. It worked!!!!!

Baby heat some tap water in the microwave til it boils ,
Get a tea towel , pour water on tea towel
Pat it a little to cool it down
put that Apple Pencil right in the middle cover everything but the both end part so it doesn’t get wet
Let it heat on up for 5 to 10 minutes
Now on your iPad on Bluetooth
Press forget pencil
And then after you heat pencil
Remove it from towel , should just be warm to touch ,
Now on blue tooth turn on and pencil should pop up when you plug it in ,

I cannot believe it! I had to heat the pencil with the hot water to about 30-40 degrees - it was not loading or working anyway before (battery drained to 0% since long) - and suddenly it began to load and connect! I kept the pencil warm during first load and now it works like a charm again. No battery drain, thanks so much!
I used a heating pad on the highest setting and it worked. We had spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong. Pen is now registering on the iPad and charging normally. Thank you!!

I have a brand new Apple Pencil that almost never use. Bought it December 2023, so it’s barely 6 months old and I’ve used it maybe a total of five minutes. That said it stays permanently docked on the iPad so I was surprised that the charge was down to zero. What I will say is after trying everything else, including what Apple support suggested, nothing else worked. I heated up a heating pad in the microwave for two minutes. Wrapped the pencil inside the hot pack for five minutes. After re-docking it for just 15 seconds, it was already up to 90% charge. Within one to two minutes it was fully charged again and is working just fine now. Thank you.

I have a problem with my Apple Pencil gen 1. I connect it fine, but it doesn’t write. When I disconnect it from the port, it flashes not connected. If I go to about I can see Apple Pencil option, but if I connect the Pencil it’s there twice. Also if I go to Apple Pencil settings I can see it’s charged but if I plug it in, for a while it shows it’s dead. Do you have some tip on how to fix this? I will be trying your hot water bottle method as well.
Have you tried removing it from bluetooth connection "forgot this device" and starting from scratch? Sometimes the bluetooth gets buggy.
Also the tip is replaceable. They usually come with extras in the original box, but you can pick them up on eBay or Amazon.

Great video! I did your method and it jump started the pen but it keeps flickering saying it is charging to different percents at each time. how long did you charge the pen afterwards and did it work straight away??
Mine worked straight away. It's worth letting it discharge to zero and then doing it again. you can also totally remove it from iPad bluetooth settings "Forget this device" and repair it.

The ingenious ways in which people are warming their pencils up is actually hilarious. Mine is far less creative! It’s currently wrapped in a dry rag, sitting on top of a mug of boiled water. I’m hoping the steam will be enough to get it going.

IT WORKED!! just heated a heat pack in the microwave for 1 minute, wrapped the apple pencil in some tissue paper and placed it on top of the heat pack for 2-3 mins and it reconnected!

you got the SUB. I had my pencil brand new still had a wrapper on it. never used used it once. 4 years later im trying to get it connected. I put it in a sock, in a ziplock bag and poured boiling water on top. not even 2 min later pulled it out and it WORKS

It's worth trying a few times. It worked for some after a third attempt. It's also worth removing any other pencils from the bluetooth beforehand. But, yes, sadly some pencils are just broken.
I was literally about to buy another pencil! Going to try this first!
The problem i'm having is that the option to even connect the pencil isn't there, and last i used it was two weeks. I tried it once with hot water, and it didnt work. I'm going to try again but im thinking there could possibly be damages that are not visible physically on the pencil?
