  • Helikon-Tex is a brand whose gear I have come to greatly enjoy. The M-65 jacket is no exception. Modeled after the classic Military M-65 jacket developed in the Vietnam War era, this modern version of the jacket is jam packed with features to provide a fully loaded tactical outerwear that is low key and stylish. With pockets throughout and a concealed carry waistband, this jacket makes the perfect option for late fall through early winter.

Looks like they removed several features the M-65 had, that really make this version not work for me. The inability to add a insulation liner, a heavier hood, and the sleeve-to-glove liner flap not being there are disappointing. I like the more modern material, and the added pockets, but it's not enough for me to buy this product over a surplus or used M-65.

"A bit of a military style"? It's a military field jacket. It was designed for military use. They didn't become popular due to being stylish. They were popular because the surplus market was ubiquitous and cheap. It's a shame Helikon opted to replace the brass 3/4 length zippers with the full length plastic ones. The flap at the bottom could be left open for range of motion and buttoned if needed.
