The steam siren sound was used for several famous Japanese movies and TV dramas during 1940's through out early 1990's. A lot of Japanese people think the sound is fake and it doesn't exist in real life because boats with the siren are not common in Japanese port anymore. I would think you may be able to educate the majority of Japanese as the steam siren is a real thing.

+mimiguy 2 I probably could. Are you thinking a full size siren ? the biggest problem would be the cost. The pattern for the curved horn/cowl on my siren cost almost 1000 dollars to have made by a professional pattern maker. I would think the cost of patterns alone to make a full size replica of a Foster, would cost somewhere areound 4000 to 5000 dollars, and for that kind of money you could buy an original or maybe 2.
I don't have plans that I make available but what I do have is sirens currently for sale on E-bay. This size siren makes a nice addition to a traction engine or steam launch.
