I’m a fan Chad but please understand there’s lots of native Oregonians that wait a quarter century just to get the opportunity to get a bull like that I’m one of them and we’re tired of the wealthy coming to Oregon and getting that opportunity year after year it’s a tough pill to swallow congratulations nice bull
This is not in one of the Big 3 units that take around 20 years to draw. It’s in the Heppner unit at Opal Butte Outfitters. Fairly easy tag to draw. They just have the advantage of hunting private ground.
As a fellow hunter, the amount of hate from what I’d assume to be other hunters in this comment section is downright embarrassing!! This man paid a lot of money for this hunt I’m sure, it’s his money that he made it’s not yours! A lot of wealthy people spending money like this helps out in many many ways, and it also helps out a lot more than most others do by buying a license and a tag every year. Just because he has money and chooses to spend it hunting doesn’t mean it’s not right or it’s not fair! If you don’t agree with it then do better! Congrats Chad on the nice bull!
This really isn't hunting, IMO. This is on private land where they built a stand next to what is probably the only water source for miles. You might as well be hunting over a planted field left out for them to eat. These elk stay on this property during hunting season because they aren't being chased like they are on public lands. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that they had fenced these elk in on their property to ensure they can manage the herd.
I was just there the same week on Ruggs. Such a great elk area. Not a ton of elk of that caliber around there from what I see year over year. Great shot and congrats to you guys.
We teach all the youth hunter safety class attendees that would not be a shot you'd ethically take. Too many chances to hit another animal, especially maybe, one you don't have a tag for., and if you had a pass through youd have injured a secind elk there. can't get excited about tree stand hunting on a wallow/spring. Been archery elk hunting in oregon for a long time. This just is not reality in much of our state.
It looks like it did pass through but it was low enough to miss the one behind. But it looked a little close to the one in front. Keep in mind though, Chad isn’t a child learning to hunt for the first time. The man is an excellent shot with his bow. And it didn’t show the angle he had so it could have looked much more open from his view.
@CascadePacificNW missed the point. Not all the hunter safety students are kids.... most bowhunters that practice are good shots. I'm sure he's glad you are fine with the shot he took. Sitting in a wooden box on private property ain't Oregon elk hunting no matter how good a shot he is.
@@herdbull I don’t think any one Oregon elk hunter gets to decide what Oregon elk hunting is. I know plenty of people who hunt in a similar way. Hunting elk on private land is like hunting elk before there was so much human presence and pressure. It’s more natural elk behavior. Would you view it any different if all things the same he were hunting from a saddle? Or is it just because it’s a permanent fixture? Also would you keep hunting public land if you had the money to hunt guided elk hunts on private land? I mean I would love to hunt private, and even guided sometimes if I could afford it. But I’m not going to hate on anyone for doing things I can’t.
@CascadePacificNW plenty of people like the idea, chief.... I don't have time to argue with you. You're welcome to your opinion, guy. I'm sick of people getting into hunting, putting stupid private land, and half ass hunts online, especially when it's an unethical shot. We can go all day on this as we don't see eye to eye, but I'm done. And no, I don't buy hunts and can easily afford to, if I wanted to hunt that way. I prefer to fair chase on public land and always will. Maybe you should save up and go do what this dude does, if that's your thing. 👍🏻 I never heard of this guy prior to this video, it said oregon and elk, the only reason I hit play.
Yah from Oregon Here hunting literally were you where hunting that unit super pressure people everywhere on public land. But of course you shot one on private.
Just found your video...Okay...Good for you...Believe me I'm not going to be a hater...But you are trespassing on our dirt. We are Oregon! And those are our Elk to hunt! Go away!
Oregon is about to be as over exposed to out of state hunters as colorado is now with all this publicity it's been getting in recent months....bye bye otc tags
The unit this outfitter in is no secret and truly couldn’t get more pressured(might get harder to draw, then less pressured over time). The public land is nothing like some of these private ranches you see people like Chad Mendes, leupold, etc. filming hunts on… most people with the actual resources to come here are well aware of that!
That's weird, you cannot build tree stands on public property in most places, that's why they sell the portable type. If this was private property I'm still congratulatory but just say that.
Congratulations Chad I would hang it up if I arrowed a bull like that in that unit! These “private land” crybaby comments are very disappointing.. you could’ve easily sat that stand for 2wks dark to dark, seen that bull 5+ times and never got a legit opportunity! They are still wild critters trying to survive the last time I checked (hence why that bull had eluded you for YEARS)
Yep probably someday we’ll loose our public land because this country doesn’t know how to run it, besides that we print trillions. There going to keep printing!!!!
I wonder if Chad feels any sadness killing this magnificent creature, because I certainly do. Even though I understand that their population needs controlling and it's how people get meat to survive, it's still causes sadness.
Yea speaking from my experience I do have moments that are tough as a bow hunter.. we’re only human. We feel remorse, sadness and all those sorts of emotions whenever we take a life. It’s a part of the circle of life though, if you shop for meat from the grocery store then you’re just avoiding the harder parts of obtaining food. I’m also filled with happiness and gratitude every time I’m blessed enough to harvest an animal because I know I get to feed my family clean, ethically sourced, quality food. It gives me a deeper connection with my food and where it comes from. I always take a moment to pray and thank the animal for its sacrifice. That’s my way of paying my respects and showing my gratefulness 😊
You’re a stud Mr. Mendes. So cool that you have worked hard to earn the opportunity to hunt in a place like this. Great fighter, great hunter.
Amazing! Holy cow! Out of a treehouse on a water source! What an epic story!

Are they doing something unfair? I thought one has to wait his turn.

@@buckconnolly1820 Thanks 👍
try putting in for a vancouver island roosevelt. you can put in for 50 years and never get it
That's every state man it's just how it is
Casey is my uncle, what a awesome bull! Recommend Opal Butte Outfitters for big bulls for sure!

That Kuiu camo really seemed to help pretty cool what money can buy. Congratulations
Congrats on a terrific bull Chad!
Congrats
I really hope that stand is really high, because otherwise that was an extremely risky shot to take.
Chad Money dude!! Wow!! Oregonian here and never seen a bull that huge!!
I have seen bigger. Nice bull tho
Good thing he has camouflage on so them wild elk can see him hiding in a box it a tree.
Can’t see him

Congratulations! Nice bull!
Congratulations chad!! Thats a giant Bull..
Awesome. Hope some day do it like my dad with a great 7 on a side elk.
Quick question, why was your gear blurred out in the beginning of the video?
Great bull, Chad!
Heck of a bull, congrats!!
Damn nice bull! Congratulations
I just saw your face at sportsman warehouse. The working mans hero!
What a shot!

What the gay is this shit? 😂 sitting in a tree stand at a private elk farm ain’t hunting!
Fricken awesome
That's awesome!
Are you hunting with Craig - Fins n feathers?
met you today in Ruidoso😂nice bull
Gosh dang are you sitting in a different unit in that picture? Bull looks like 2000lbs lol
Threading the needle

What a great "hunt".
Chad you don’t need the background music on the natural videos. We all love the sound of the outdoors rather than music during the montages

Why was the bow blurred out?
It’s an unreleased bow
I was thinking the same then theres a picture of the bow on the elk last picture
This is what is ruining hunting. Going from state to state killing way more than you can possibly eat on private land exclusive to people with money.
Cry about it
Congrats on a NICE(!!!)Bull.
What did he score?
Dang dude, Dude's face's still drooping to the left after that McGregor fight
The Volkanovski fight was vicious also.
Congrats on the monster !! Are those rattler grips on the alpha x?
Great video brother from the imperial county ca 🇺🇲 that's a lot of meat
lol that’s not hunting, you should try stalking some time.

CONGRATS ON A GREAT HUNT CHAD.👊
Chad M can shoot, bows and rifles!! Can Connor M. Do that ?? Or any MMA fighter ??
Que buenos videos viejo
What’s up with the bows being blurred out? Sponsor conflict?
Or is it a prototype not yet released to us mere mortals?😅
@@crowiesnest makes much more sense :)

@@joshshook7567 not at all . I called a nice bull in for my buddy in oregon on Monday. We hunted 35 min on public land .
FYI you are not legally allowed to use mechanical broad heads in Oregon
You need to go read the regs.
I hunt not to far from there and I have pictures of the same wolf
Gogil bos
Why blur the bow out? Sketchy
Because the “famous” archers get to hunt with next years bow models before us poor folks get to. 😂So his bow hasn’t been released yet to the public.
@@RangerVt.802it’s also just a prototype he’s testing it to find any flaws in it if there are any
Expanding broadhead and a luminock? How does one of the most screwed up states in the country have such relaxed conservation rules?
We don't, we can't bait bear but can bait deer and elk... oregon is a joke
Let’s see you go out on the Oregon coast and kill a bull without those guides😂
There’s a lot of pissy hunters in this comment section. Jeez
Let's Go

Smoke a pack 🐺a day

I can’t speak for all, but definitely for most real hunters, we feel everything. We want it to be as fast as possible.
