    Thank you so much Becca. I have this die for a while now and I have been bracing at the bit for these instructions. Now I can make the frames that I have been planning. I had emailed Cust Service a few weeks ago and LeeAnn said you would be making this video. Thanks again Becca.

    Oh my goodness! Absolutely gorgeous, you are so talented. I started loving APG with your beautiful card creations, then loved you even more when I saw your lovely intricate dies. Then you designed the 3D cards, and now this! When I’m in need of an idea for an elegant card, I turn to Becca, thank you so much for your inspiration, you never disappoint!!

    I love this tutorial. You are so easy to learn from. I am so bored with most of cards being made today... color in a stamp, or glue on a cute something. I am so thrilled to see, the way you make cards. I love the versatility of the sizing on this simple die. Freezing my vignettes off here!!!!!! Sandhills Patty

    Thank you for enabling the closed captioning. When I watched without it, I had a devil of a time trying to figure out most of the words you said, but the one word that really stumped me was "vignette." Without the help of the captioning I would never had known. Looking forward to making my own. Love the die and the fact that the frame can be any size. Again, thanks.

    This is a great idea. You can do so many things with these dies. From researching I see that there are 3 sets for 3 different widths of the box frame. How would you put them together so that there isn't that small gap in the one corner? How do you know how long each frame pieces should be do that the frame does not cover up the photo, art, etc? Would the the width of the frame be added to the length of the cut pieces so that frame ends up being large enough to accommodate the item/picture that is being framed? Seems to me that if you do not add additional length the frame would cover up at least the edges of the picture being framed? Thanks so much

    • @rtd1791
      @rtd1791 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jane I think the gap came from the frame in the video not being squeezed quite tight enough. But if you end up with a gap that displeases you, you can do what crafters always do: stick an embellishment on it.
      The idea of these frame dies is that they can be any size so if you are trying to frame a particular picture ( rather than creating something from scratch) you would measure the picture and create the frame based on the measurements. You’d have to add in the measurements for the thickness of the frame and any matting too.
      For example if you wanted to use the 1 inch frame for a 5x7 picture that’s centered 1/2 inch away from the frame you’d create an 8x10 frame. 5 inches (picture)plus 2 inches (frame thickness 1” + 1”) plus 1 inch ( matt size 1/2” + 1/2”) equals 8” for the width. 7 inches + 2”+ 1” for 10 inches in height.

    How do I measure my frame for the picture I want to frame I measured 7 1/4 " but it was too small

    • @beccastamps
      @beccastamps 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chris, the sizes we are working with are the exterior dimensions. If you have a certain size you are looking for, the frame does displace a bit of the picture area so you must allow for it before hand. For instance, if you are using the 1" frame and your picture is 3"x3", then the area you are working with will be 4" x 4" and the end result will be a 3" x 3" frame on the interior.
      I'm not sure the size of your picture but if it is 7 1/4" square and you are using the 1/2" frame, then you'll be mounting your frame onto a panel that is 8-1/4" (that accommodates the 1/2" frame at the top and the 1/2" frame at the bottom"
      I hope this helps!

    Becca, I recently purchased all 3 sizes, but I’m confused on how to measure it for a painting to go inside. “Centered 1/2” each side of a backer. So I get it. added 1” to 5x7 both directions making it 6x8 inside now, but then you add the frame size. 1 inch frame size you need to add 1” for the top & 1” for the bottom. Do the same for the Left & right. So to the 6x8 inside your lentgh of pieces would be 8x10. ? Is this information on Spellbinders sight in written form anywhere ? Or any written instruction on how many pieces to cut or how to assemble ? This video helps but I dont want to rely on internet to make it 3 years from? Can I get an email or hard copy with the math on it? & instructions how to assemble. Please. Maybe you could make 1 more video just on how to assemble with the focus on the size of the art inside.

    I would never hang any kind of paper items on the fridge or anywhere. else in my kitchen because everything in that room will gradually collect a film of grease on the surface. It will quickly built up enough to destroy your project in no time & there’s no way to clean off paper. Besides, something that elegant would look completely out of place & ridiculous, besides. Hanging anywhere else in the home would be so much better & even then l would run a Swiffer over the whole item just to keep it from deteriorating. There’s so much work that goes into something like this that it would be heartbreaking to see it self- destruct. This frame is absolutely gorgeous & l would love to make one myself. I hope this didn’t sound like criticism, because l never meant for it to sound rude.❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗

    • @rtd1791
      @rtd1791 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Katherine Haught I thought your comment was a tad bit extreme. I think hanging it on the fridge was a suggestion not a command.
      Many paper crafters don’t intend for their creations to be permanent. And many crafters don’t cook. ;) You are right that if you cook a great deal airborne oil droplets will coat whatever is on your fridge. But I’ve had paper items last over a year on my fridge and I’m the sort who cooks 5 days a week typically and more if you count times other than dinner. I don’t fry a lot of food though so that might make a difference.
      If you absolutely want to keep your paper creations for years whilst being able to hang them on the fridge, there’s ways of coating paper so it will not absorb oil. Micro Glaze would work for instance or acrylic spray-on coatings. Too much bother for me. I’d just make something new. For me, it’s more about the creative process than having a finished project.
      Dies allow you to make multiple projects. I’m willing to bet that Becca mixes it up quite a bit and the projects on her fridge probably change.

    I am planning on purchasing these dies, as I make a lot of boxes. What I would like to know is when you refer to your measurements you refer to the outside size of the frame. At the moment I need to be able to determine the inside measurement for my next project before deciding on the length of my strips. Is there a way to do this easily?

    • @beccastamps
      @beccastamps 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dianne, yes, when I mention size, I'm referring to the outside dimensions of the frame. I think there's an easy way and of course, once you do it a couple of times, it will become second nature. Here's what I do...
      If I've already made a 1" frame, to get the dimensions inside - subtract 2" from height and width
      If I want to make a 1" frame, I add 2" to height and width of the item I'm trying to frame.
      If I've already made a 3/4" frame, to get the dimensions inside - subtract 1.5" from height and width
      If I want to make a 3/4" frame, I add 1.5" to the height and width of the item I'm trying to frame.
      If I've already made a 1/2" frame, to get the dimensions inside - subtract 1" from the height and width.
      If I want to make a 1/2" frame, I add 1" to the height and width of the item I'm trying to frame.
      I hope this helps :-) Let us know how it goes!!
