Vault Hunter That's an interesting way to put it. And yes, under different circumstances, I probably would enjoy the whole Steve and Sharon situation, but the small scene just made it feel forced and not necessary to the overall plot. Like was said though, you win some, you loose some.
Honestly why did they ship her with Banner? I mean i see the church scene and think back to WS and keep thinking they should have ship her and Rogers. Her and Banner just felt so forced.
@Huy Phan Nguyen You mean Joss Whedon? He didn't get fired, he left because Disney interfiered too much. And how in earth is he a sexist? The guy literally made Buffy the Vampire Slayer...
In my opinion, if these scenes stayed, it would feel more like a Captain America movie than an Avengers one. The movie is great, but more often than not the characters passed through the plot, rather than having the plot work with the characters. Sometimes more dialogue between two heroes is more interesting than heroes reacting to a situation, which these solo films should be all about . Dunno if i make sense, but conflict through interaction ( e.g the Iron Man and Cap scenes) is more interesting than interaction through conflict. ( e.g Cap and Falcon figuring out what to do with Bucky), though i enjoy both. A deleted scene like Black Widow in the funeral talking about her past is refreshing. Still an awesome movie, but these scenes would be nice to add.
@mary alice True, but when watching it, it felt like Avengers 2.5. I’m curious how did the test audiences reacted to these scenes when they were screening the movie in its earliest form?
Yeah, I read somewhere that the Russos trimmed/cut a lot of Team Cap scenes until test audiences were 50/50 split between Team Cap and Team Iron Man. It's not helped by the fact that Robert Downey Jr.'s contract apparently mandated he get the most spoken dialogue. I think if these scenes were retained, plus additional scenes where maybe Team Cap's members could point out how Team Iron Man's members were being hypocrites (and that Vision's equation was mistaken, because the Accords are about control, not accountability), plus make Zemo's plan not be so reliant on coincidences, this would be a better movie. (Zemo's plan to get Tony, Steve and Bucky to the Siberian bunker seems based on the assumption that all of Steve's allies would be captured and all of Tony's allies would be injured/too disillusioned to join him. Just what would Zemo have done if, say, Wanda had managed to get away with Steve and Bucky at the airport fight? Or if Vision and/or Natasha had gone with Tony to Siberia?)

Sharon and Steve actually had a chemistry during that lunch scene. If only they had kept it instead of the one they decided to put in the movie, maybe their kiss would be more accaptable.
@Jasmine Watts if Sharon Carter had a little bit more development in Winter Soldier ( movie ) I can get behind. I’m reading the Winter Soldier comic Sharon is a bad ass & has great chemistry with Steve ( their ex’s in this comic ). Awesome story
natasha lost so much screentime in this movie, and those deleted scenes really bring out the decisions shes made, her past, her losses. its a shame they cant make their movies longer
I have exactly one tiny problem with this amazing movie. Why was Tony not at Peggy's funeral? We know for a fact he grew up with her around because of her relationship with Howard.
They did Sharon a disservice by cutting most of her scenes. I can see the chemistry between her and Steve here. Without these scenes, their relationship falls flat.
I think the reason it might've been cut is cuz people will think Steve hitting on the niece of his former lover is uhhh... well awkward to say the least. But this is just my theory. I don't really know sooooo ehh.
David Spooner True, but if you knew her story, you would know that she never knew her parents, or rather she never had any idea who and how they were because they erased her memory as a child. Imagine not seeing your parents after 30 years and finding them dead
It would've been T'Challa coming off as a show-off. The reason why they cut the part when BP pulled Cap's sheild down before kicking him to the ground in the airport battle.
Just a theory but I think they may have removed it because they wanted to keep the only power she has. He deducted her psychoanalyst way too easily. She can get you to admit stuff you didn't even know you knew but he basically told her to cut the bullshit cos he got a flight to catch lol
Such an epic movie. What a masterpiece. This was my favorite movie of all time, until Infinity War came. Marvel has done an amazing job on character development, that it hurts when they fight against each other. ("He's my friend.") ("So was I")
Yeah, it was hard to watch that fight scene between Cap and Ironman, one of my favorite Marvel superheroes. But again, if it not for that scene, they would not made up and reconciled in Endgame, where themes of revenge pop up like they were in Civil War.
When Sharon quotes Peggy - "Compromise where you can. Where you can't, don't. ... When the whole world tells you to move, it's your job to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye and say no, you move." - the words go on to define Cap's stand against the whole idea of sokovia accords, against Tony and against Govt. because he feels it's not right and decides to stand for it, and this sets the foundation of the civil war.
over and over again they cut out scenes that would slow down the movie...yet its always those scenes that would bring so much more to the characterisations
And Sebastian Stan just spoiled the scene by saying A4 is gonna have a scene where all orig and new avengers with the guardians of the galaxy in a 360 degree circle standing and kicking ass together with avengers theme playing in the background. Including himself
You actually focused on the word "spoiler" instead of the whole context, well ummmk. Infinity war didn't have that billion dollar scene tho so it would kinda be like a spoiler considering how some heroes ended up dying in IW and then later you hear a news about all of them complete in 1 scene together.
Harry Master Clapping for this wholesome comment! No pitting female characters against each other or putting anyone down. I don’t care if you follow it up with “...because they’re so hot.” I’m just here for some positivity in the MCU fandom. 😆
Those words, from Peggy through Sharon......across time meant for Steve..a message a time when he needed her wisdom, gotta say i wish all these scenes had been in the film..
Yeah they have more chemistry than with Sharon...Should have used another actress, that actress has no expression, her scenes were so flat, even this monologue at the funeral, very bad overall...
4:44 I notice a bit of his confident/slightly arrogant Johnny Storm/Human Torch character coming out before he switches back to quiet, reserved, humble Cap. Still can’t believe a single actor gave the best portrayal of Marvel’s Captain America AND Marvel’s Human Torch. Sure those F4 Movies May have been a bit campy, but the character he brought was great and a definite upgrade from whatever that Fant4stic movie was...
I still feel like even with these scenes between them, Steve and Sharon's relationship felt forced. And not to mention really weird. She's Peggy's niece, for crying out loud. Having them be good friends or even like a type of found family dynamic would have been cooler, I think. And it would paint Sharon as something more than a simple love interest.
Nancy Tiznado they were just going for the comic parallel but yeah you’re right it’s weird it’s even weirder in the comics so let’s just be thankful they didn’t take it that far
its worse when you realize that Sharon was supposed to have Natasha's role in Winter Soldier. they really could have done good with their relationship by actually giving Sharon the roles and scenes she deserved.
Cap has enough platonic chick friends at this point. He's a globe trotting super hero. It's not like he has a lot of time browse Eharmony. Sharon is the only woman in his life he has some connection with and also has the strength of character and career path to be a good match for Captain friggin America. Just because she's the niece of a woman he used to like doesn't make it weird. Fun fact, most women are someone's niece.
Marvel really needs to add more scenes like this In other words character development instead of always relying on comedic purposes. Don’t get me wrong it’s good to have comedy in a film every once in a while like Thor Ragnarok or guardians of the galaxy volume 2.
The only comedy scenes in this movie were the quips by Iron Man, Spider-Man and Ant-Man in the airport fight. The rest was seriousness and character development. Cap's trilogy is way more serious compared to other MCU movies.
Andy Parker I know that I’m just saying some comedy moments where unnecessary in these other movies for example after Peter and Gamora have a Intimate conversation Drax is eating a snack in front of them in avengers infinity war.
Back to the future has a lot of comedic moments. Heck all great comic book movies has comedic moments. Even blade had comedic moments. Superman, batman, even dark knight.
I agree. We didn't get enough background information about them. if I remember correctly, Sharon is not mentioned in Age of Ultron. It seems sudden to a lot of us because we NEVER see or hear anything about Steve's relationship status with Sharon after Winter Soldier.
@@Hwyz447 You mean like two friends that care for each other? Jesus, a man and a woman can't even look at each other and people already think they're a perfect couple... They should’ve kept Nats lines. It would have really showed how much she cared about Steve and how she felt that the Avengers were her only family. It would have explained more why she changed sides at the end. It would have just added more details that I think are very important
I like how they brought Peggy back to the UK to be buried and gave her a British funeral with British military there. She spent so much time in America and working with Shield. Most likely stayed and lived there for the rest of her life, so it probably nice for her to rest in her home country.
They probably can't just yet because they're really careful about spoilers and it might be difficult to show the right ones sinces Infinity War 1 and 2 scenes were sometimes filmed at the same time

Steve seeing Peggy getting old, talking about her family, her telling him to MOVE ON, literally sending her off at the funeral and hearing Sharon's speech is meant to signify a new leaf for Cap. His arc of living in the past is dead, finished. From this point forward he embraces the future and makes something wrong, right. He has moved on after the funeral and seeks to gain a new identity. So why, oh why, did they choose to have him go back and steal everything away from Peggy's life?
I'm glad they cut the first scene, Nat's story would have made it impossible to write that awesome upcoming Black Widow Movie where she fights alongside her family. That last clip where bucky throws the shield is amazing! Makes me wish he could be the next Captain America!!!
Steve’s journey throughout the mcu has been the most emotionally invested The end of endgame was a perfect way to close his chapter It’s been a pleasure captain
Obviously Sharon and Steve is weird, BUT Sharon Carter IS a Carter and an AWESOME character who should not get shit on because the writers felt horny to put them together. I am really exited to see her in The Falcon and The Winter Soilder, and I hope they do her justice. Also I love Emily Vancamp ❤
Sometimes If you revisit the whole Cap's relationships, you will realize it's very weird. Basically after the first Cap movie, he didn't really date any other girlfriends, but somehow he still in love with Peggy. Which is cool, definitely normal. However, in Winter Soldier, Black Widow and Cap definitely have something. Some people will say it's just friendship, but at least I feel it's really beyond that. Being flirty is just one thing, Natasha's some lines are strange. Especially in the car she asked Steve who does he want her to be. I mean, If you are saying this is not a romantic relationship hint, I don't know what to say. My normal female friends will never ask me this kind of question since we are just friends. Then we got Sharon, what can I say? They barely got development and they kissed. But OK, I thought it's official she is Cap's new girlfriend until..... Endgame he went back to spend his life with Peggy........ So why the hell did he have to kiss Peggy's niece in the first place? I even feel after the first Cap movie, they tried different women But eventually they don't know who should fit so Russo Brothers sent him back to avoid troubles. And Age of Ultron made Natasha and Banner a thing, might also be a factor to force Russo Brothers changed their plans. Otherwise Cap and Widow might be the most obvious choice considering their characters bonds development in Cap 2. After Cap 2, There aren't any organic relationships happened Or can I say they basically messed up?
If Nat found her father's headstones then she knew what their names were, then how is it possible that in End Game she says she does not know her father's name?
I don't understand this logic. Peggy wouldn't have wanted Steve to stay hung up over her death, especially when they never had a serious chance at a relationship in the first place. He's had plenty of time to say goodbye and let go by this point.
I’m just glad that they cut most of Sharon’s scenes out, I actually hate her so much, idk why I feel like she’s got this backstabbing bitchy side to her. And plus she kills Steve in the comics as well
7:26 Yes, that is the only scene I would have kept official. Natasha seeing her family appart is a great, drama part that we can understand more in Endgame and her movie...
These scenes would have added so much heart to the movie, I don’t care if it was 7 minutes longer. It makes Steve and Sharon’s relationship more believable, and Natasha’s character have a little more depth, why would they cut these?

Vault Hunter That's an interesting way to put it. And yes, under different circumstances, I probably would enjoy the whole Steve and Sharon situation, but the small scene just made it feel forced and not necessary to the overall plot. Like was said though, you win some, you loose some.

Honestly why did they ship her with Banner? I mean i see the church scene and think back to WS and keep thinking they should have ship her and Rogers. Her and Banner just felt so forced.
Then we would have never gotten the ending of endgame
Yes. They shouldn't removed Betty in the MCU and as Banner's main love interest ☹

that was joss whedons story arc. then he left the projects after age of ultron, and nobody else cared to develop his shit any further
Huy Phan Nguyen ur so dumb lmfao
Still an awesome movie, but these scenes would be nice to add.
it is a captain america movie lmao 😭
It's called Captain America: Civil War for a reason
@mary alice
True, but when watching it, it felt like Avengers 2.5.

True, but tbf, when you get disillusioned with superheroes and institutions and felt you been pushed to the sides, you go rogue and start being part of the Black Market and use groups like the Flag Smashers as a means to your ends. I’m curious how Sharon will be used in the future, assuming she go the anti-hero/ally of the Thunderbolts/Dark Avengers crowd.
It's good they cut the lifting the casket out of the car scene as it kills the old man steve plotline.
Sharon and Steve actually had a chemistry during that lunch scene. If only they had kept it instead of the one they decided to put in the movie, maybe their kiss would be more accaptable.
I wish Sharon Carter would have been developed more in the MCU.

Agreed. Without these scenes the kiss felt shoehorned in. But I could see it happening with these ones.

For me, they cutted the Capt and Nat scene because we will ship them more than Capt and Sharon or Hulk and Nat

Nancy Tiznado It’s like the Bruce x Nat ship, they were both forced.
I don't get this logic. A lot of people are someones niece, and Steves had months/years leading up to the funeral to let go and move on.
Tonight orange blue
Still those comedic movies also have character development
Back to the future has a lot of comedic moments. Heck all great comic book movies has comedic moments. Even blade had comedic moments. Superman, batman, even dark knight.

I wish they don't disappoint you next time :)
If Nat found her father's headstones then she knew what their names were, then how is it possible that in End Game she says she does not know her father's name?
that’s why they cut it
Keeping most of these scenes would’ve made this so much more impacting
Kinda glad they cut the Sharon and Steve scene. It feels wrong for the two to be flirting so soon after Peggy's death.

I'm so glad they cut the first scene showing the pallbearers faces. I love the idea of young Steve and old Steve both being there.
I wish they would have kept these. So many layers added. Still I get it, timing and all for a major motion picture is everything.
This scene sets the story for her movie .
7:26 Yes, that is the only scene I would have kept official. Natasha seeing her family appart is a great, drama part that we can understand more in Endgame and her movie...
Man, it's after seeing Wyatt Russel as cap you realise what a world of difference Evans made with his portrayal.
These scenes would have added so much heart to the movie, I don’t care if it was 7 minutes longer. It makes Steve and Sharon’s relationship more believable, and Natasha’s character have a little more depth, why would they cut these?
7:31 That definitely should've been in the movie!
