Glad someone else saw how great HO played. I was also impressed with Dunn, and not for the first time...the mistakes she made, she more than compensated for in the 2nd half...very good defender...I agree with Kate she is definitely on Tom's list!

I'm Australian and i love both teams playing on this pitch. We had some good opportunities for goal, but hope solo was just too good for us. That being said those last few attempted goals for USA, were great saves for Oz!

It's going to be a happy dilemma for Tom to choose his roster of strikers for WWC qualifying, and the actual WWC itself, if they qualify automatically, god forbid they get beat in the semifinal again like last time. I'll say this, overall, the USWNT is much deeper overall then they were around this time four years ago, especially at center forward/striker. Like, who are you going to leave out? -_-
NBC did carry the game live. The combination was new for the US in defense but they got it under control in the second half. Lloyd and Press goals were world class but Holiday was a own goal and the Aussie goalie's lack of conviction on coming for that ball was her undoing. The team played great overall but Tom's problem isn't the forwards, it's the midfield...His choice is on overload...Heath, Rapinoe, Averbuch, O’Reilly, Lloyd, Holiday etc...that's his problem!
USWNT is a star loaded team which may be confusing for the coach when making selection of players on whom to feature or whom to leave. US defense was little bit porous during the first half but tightened in the second half. Hope Solo was my "dean of defense" in this game. She save all the dangerous attempts made by De Vane, I commend her for that.
I'd also like to say Asher, that Holiday is a better option because of experience and versatility, but Press is the electricity the US needs when opportunities aren't coming easily. Her goal scoring and box running skills are dangerous from whichever position she's playing, and she can finish from both feet at full speed much like Morgan, the difference being she isn't as big a name and is thus less respected. Holiday gives away a lot of passes in good and bad field position because she touches the ball so much, but Press can't be a starter till she learns how to pressure properly and play 1v1 defense from any position. She's currently too inexperienced to use her legs, (they're super long) and she has never been taught fundamental defense because she was a golden striker for Stanford, played in a Swedish league, and now is only a bench mid/forward. She's been considered "fresh legs" her entire USWNT career, and only some discipline and seasoning will change her into a dangerous attacker and team player.
Also, was this game actually on NBC, like what they said on one of the Studio 90 videos, or NBC Sports Network? I'm just asking B/C if it was on NBC and not NBCSN, I never once saw a promo for it during the ND/USC game last night. ;-(

Barring a major injury, I think the World Cup roster is pretty much set. I just pray Boxxy can get back into shape. The six defenders will be Rampone, Krieger, Engen, Sauerbrunn, Dunn and O'Hara. The six mids will be Heath, Rapinoe, O'Reilly, Lloyd, Cheney, and Boxxy. The 4 forwards are Leroux, Morgan, Wambach, and Press. I just don't see how anyone else can play themselves onto the team if these players are healthy.
I was there it was such a great game. wish other players on the team was though but other than that it was a fantastic time the band cracked me up that was there they made our time at the game even funner
people need to actually pay attention and watch the matches Press has played in with the USWNT not just what she has done in sweden where the play is slower
Learn the game?! We invented football! Some refs would give that (the goal) as a own goal even if if it was a slight misdirection, it came off the defender's head. It was none the less a good goal and I'm glad she was credited for the strike but to assume you know more about a game I have played since I was three is very presumptuous. Have a good day!
Press is a lethal scorer and would be a waste in the midfield. You don't do that to forwards as prolific as her. Besides, Holiday is just starting to settle in there. For the WC it should be Morgan/Press as forwards, Press playing centrally, with Syd as the super sub. Politics won't let that happen, but it would be insane not to go ahead with Morgan and Press.
Krieger got knocked around a bit in CL play, but she isn't injured. They are playing a lot of friendlies in the next few weeks so likely they are rotating players.
Is it just me, or was the WNT's defense horrible in this game? Australia's attack, from what I see in the highlights, exploited SO MANY HOLES in the backline. -_-
well i guess id do know more because the refs agreed with me because Cheney did get credit for the goal it wasnt given as an own goal.i know as well as u should that its at the refs discretion as to call it an own goal maybe u should argue with the ref about it then.
really and how is Press at corner kicks or free kicks or crosses?? or playing with her back to goal? that's a play maker and Cheney is one of the best in the world .
Could go either way. as soon as the clip starts she is already in the process of kicking the ball. Also the angle is bad to get a definitive answer, but there is an assistant referee on the line (hard to see, in a dark uniform, just in front of the allstate ad) looking straight down the line. I have seen those kinds of calls go both ways, just depends on the referee I guess.

easy if u have to leave Press out she doesn't do anything Alex or Syd does better and nobody can head the ball like Abby which is invaluable on set pieces.they will prob take four to the WWC Press could be the alternate.
Hagen is good and all, but she isn't even the best on her team. Press got the golden boot in the Swedish league. I find it hard to believe you follow European soccer and not give her credit for that.
Enough already about Press theres no way she should start over Syd or Abby.Press is a good player but Syd is better and Abby can do things that no other player in the world can including Press. insane would be to put Abby and Syd on the bench. the chemistry is magic between Abby and Alex why would you want to throw that away just because u think Press is hot?

if im not mistaken krieger is injured, at least last time i heard, it was either an ankle, knee or concussion. but im not too sure on that
