i watched Gospel Singing Jubilee from 1964-1967...While our family wasn't a church going family God had His way allowing me to hear the music learning about Jesus. Years have gone by and seeing some of the familiar faces from my childhood has been a family reunion...To think that God was planting seeds in my heart about him back then and now part of His family is such A BLESSING!

Oh my!! So many memories come flooding back! I used to catch these shows early on Sunday morning. Setting in the den with the door closed so not to disturb other family memories sleeping. It's where I learned to love southern gospel music and worship the Lord Jesus Christ! Really great memories!

My Dad set up stage for the Happy Goodmans once or twice when they came through his hometown to sing in the high school auditorium. Late 70's or early 80's.

It seemed like Vestel Goodman's voice was so much higher than when she was older. I guess her voice mellowed as she aged. One thing about it, she never left nothing on the stage, she gave it her all. Another singer that I found so gifted and so much gifted was Kenny Hinson, his last performance having been told nothing more could be done for his kidney cancer, leaning steadying himself on the piano with the hurt on his family's face knowing they were going to have to say farewell soon as his last performance "The Lighthouse" on one of the earliest Gaither tapings. And sitting just behind him was Vestel Goodman who remembered they, the Goodman's had helped them as a young group and brother who they had lost 5 years prior had sung this same song written by Kenny's brother, Ronny. Rusty's brother, Vestel's husband, Howard was overcome as they both wept.

I first found southern gospel music on WCNW radio, then I was so Blessed to find this program (on re-runs) around 1980. I think I fell in love with some of the young ladies singing on this show. I thank God for the dedicated servants of Christ who traveled and sung around the country.
