Garden variety coding! LOL! :D After the CCS you will be best off with an AHIMA or ACDIS credential for CDI. AAPC's credentials are not well known yet. I took the CDEI only to help them test the beta exam, but for real CDI work I wouldn't yet recommend it. Maybe when it is more sought after in a couple years.

Hi I just passed my CRC, that is my first credential. I am looking for another big credential and looks like CDEI will fit to my CRC. Do you agree with it since we are just using ICD10 CM and used to read complex cases?
Hi M Villaroman! Congratulations on the CRC and welcome to the coding world!! :) The CDEI has a heavy inpatient focus, meaning, you have to know PCS coding, inpatient coding rules, revenue cycle etc. I have several inpatient related videos, give them a look to gauge how closely you can follow, how well you already understand the necessary material. The CRC credential, while addressing inpatient topics, is closer to the CDEO (outpatient coding) in my opinion. How about the CPCO (Compliance Officer) as the next 'big' credential? Or, if you don't want to deal with CPT codes (I don't blame you :D ), then maybe the CIC? That one would be a good intro before you do the CDEI. What do you think?
