    Fun fact 1: Hunan province was one of the biggest heavy industrial machines manufacturers in China after the PRC is funded, you can literally say Hunan "built" half of the new China.
    Fun fact 2: Changsha has the exact same name to the Changsha back to the 3 kingdom ages, which is about 1800 years ago.
    NOT FUN fact: Changsha was the old capital city of Wu in the 3 kingdom ages, which was the capital city when Sunquan's father Sunjian is dominant in the south of China. And Sunquan's old brother, Sunce who died quite young, sent an exploration team to the east offshore of the mainland, and guess what they found, yes the island of Taiwan and that is the first time when China contact with that island (which was firstly named with Yizhou). After 1700 years, the KMT, which is the ROC age, failed to defend the city so they decided to burn the city to Ash ( above 80%) in 1938. And they are camping in Taiwan now while helping the outsiders against the motherland. And a Australian news reported this story just a few years ago like " speak of doing horrible things to their own ppl in a war, China has many things to tell, you won't believe what the CHINESE have done to the city of Changsha during WWII, blablabla, " yet never mentioned what was the formal name back to the time, The Republic of China, and didn't mention where are they NOW"
    I hope our next 075type amphibious assault ship can be a named ship of Hunan, and to be the first one landing onto the island to make them pay.

    Your video ROCKED me. One ☝️ of the best you tube videos on Changsha. 🙌🏽 BRAVO 🎊🎈 Using architecture as the way in which one exposes a city trains the viewer on esthetics and sophistication. It is certainly a distinguishing factor in not just filming “another Chinese city” but highlighting how it made you feel as the videographers. Harvey, many Chinese tourists also go to Mao Zedong's birthplace. And am I right that the Zhang Jiajie city is also located in Hunan Province? Let alone some small towns in remote western Hunan province where many minority people live. Never underestimate what this province can offer.

    China has the largest geographical environment and different climates in the world, and there are always cities suitable for foreigners. Zhuhai and Nanning are very good, and the temperature varies greatly from year to year round. The climate in Hunan is too bad, cold and humid.

    Hunan is a magical place. In the ancient land of Chu State, there is a famous saying in China: Only Chu State has talents. In addition to Zhangjiajie in western Hunan, there is also a country within a country, Yelang Country. Chinese idiom Yelang is arrogant from here

    that place must be extremely humid in mid summer with very wet tropical condition.. but perfect to visit in the winter i would assumed.. so what tiers categories is Changsha.. i reckon it has a three tier city status..

    • @Harveyinchina
      @Harveyinchina  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was so so humid already... It's a tier 2 at the moment, same as Chongqing! In my opinion Chongqing should be a Tier 1 though, same as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai.. I'm not sure what makes it a Tier 2 though

    • @azharidris7092
      @azharidris7092 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Harveyinchina thanks Harvey for the clarifications.. OMG i didn't know Chongqing is in tier two city category.. i would expect both Chongqing and Changsha is in tier two is due to the fact its not very internationals.. i didn't see one foreigner whilst you were walking around.. Beijing and Shanghai seem so full of foreigner like Hong Kong

    • @WangJing66
      @WangJing66 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are four first-tier cities in China, Beijing: the political center, Shanghai: the financial center, Shenzhen and Guangzhou: the special economic zones, which are at the forefront of the country's economic development due to a large number of economic promotion policies. Besides, Chongqing and Tianjin are the former second-tier cities because They are municipalities directly under the central government and are not under the jurisdiction of any province. They are directly managed by the central government and can enjoy some economic welfare policies and development strategies. The next level is the third-tier cities, which are generally the capitals of various provinces or autonomous regions, such as Changsha, Chengdu, Xi'an, etc. Now there are some new selection criteria that list Chongqing, Changsha and other provincial capitals or capitals as new first-tier cities, I think this is completely nonsense, these cities are so far apart from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen that they cannot be juxtaposed at all, I believe the old standard is more credible.

    I enjoyed your video. Thank you, it was well made. I don't think you have enjoyed the stinky toufu that much though. You seem to talk about building and bridge architecture a lot. Is that your major? Wen Heyou looks like a place created for people who like to see what the city looked like about 30 years ago for a place developed so rapidly, without the old memories, it is just a metropolitan area without any character to it. Your British passport did not arouse any special interest is a good sign that people are accustomed to foreigners and foreign cultures. Your remark at the end of video about the culture of young people caused some resonance.

      @@Harveyinchina Every province has its own local culture, which you can learn comprehensively by visiting a local museum. The most famous exhibition in Hunan provincial museum may be the antiques from Mawangdui noble semetery which dates back to Han dynasty (~200 B.C.). Among the exhibition, there is a well-preserved wet body called Lady Xinzhui. It's said the body's skin was still soft and elastic. So of course it's worthy visiting.
