Thank you for this beautiful response. A great answer to the same question I've been asking.
I could feel this lady's confusion, I've experienced endless loops of ruminating thoughts revolving around "dharma this" and "dharma that". And then one night on a walk to sort out my thoughts, I saw a single dandelion growing by the road, glowing a pure luminous yellow, but nothing more, nothing less. And the answer that came to me then, was a single word - "simplicity".
The few times I came closest to feeling this "effortlessness" were when i said to myself "I'm done trying so hard. I just don't care anymore, dharma be damned". There was a sense of instant release and freedom. But the thoughts quickly took over again and warned, "you're going to fall into the cracks of hedonism or nihilism if you let go off the effort." What a tricky beast, this mind of ours is.

Here is a link to a talk that Khandro Rinpoche gave called "Practicing in Times of Adversity". It is audio only. www.khandrorinpoche.org/practicing-in-times-of-adversity/
As Rinpoche says: "It is a time of unspeakable fear and disruption for most of the world. During such times of crisis and struggle which arise in our lives, our practice could be one of the first things we turn to."
