everything starts and ends with the principle of bend. The best way to achive softness is through bending with a snaffle or hackamore. I use both at the same time. After my horse spends a few years in the hackamore and can back a side pass then he is ready for the spade. But in reallity everything can be done with the snaffle.
The bit you show is not the same as is available on the websites. You have an extra collar on each side of the port. Where do you get the exact same bit?
I have my bridle for the past 30 years. For colts thru trained horses use always the same one. Hope you will keep it for a long time. We can change bits over and over, the horse will have the same mouth.
As a kid, my parents bought a retired Spade trained ranch/ cow horse. Obviously kids aren't going to ride a Spade bit. The former owner told my dad, " just buy a bit with the smallest curb so he's stable for neck reining. :)
These horses are absolutely splendid. I don't understand how this posture and carriage is considered desirable, though. Avoiding way under or behind the bit is not softness.
Have you ever had the chance to use a Mikmar bit? I sure wish you would try and review. I do not have any connection with that company. I do use one. I like the way they que the horse. They give three que's.
The bit in this video is not the same one on the website or on fg pro shops website. I cant find this bit anywhere. All the ones for sale have 4 swivel points, the one in the video has 6.
Thank you for this video! I’ve searched for over a year before I could find this bit in stock. Works great for my mare. But I really wanna know about the second bit you showed. The leather wrapped d-ring with a purchase. That’s a very unique design. Where can we buy it? Thanks
The Ultra Comfort Bit made by Metalab and designed by Professional Trainer Francois Gauthier is available at several tack shop and on our website. It retails 84.95
I have a finished reiner who constantly gaps his mouth and chews any bit I use. He has a very narrow mouth, and a low palate or shallow mouth. I would so like to try this bit, but I can't find it anywhere. Can you PLEASE help me?
My 25 year old Arabian/QH mare is in a D-ring snaffle bit. She’s super hot and loves to run. Every time I ask for a simple walk by putting a bit of pressure one rein at a time, she throws her head up and just pushes right through the aid. Same with turning- when I ask to turn she hesitates and refuses unless I really reach down and FORCE her to turn. My trainer suggested a full bit with a correctional port.. would you suggest the bit you were talking about? Thank you
This Bit looks interesting. But just to add on, I had a horse much like the one you are describing. Getting the horse soft in the mouth , while from the ground, utilizing "pressure and release techniques", made a huge difference. A good bit is a great tool to cue what you want the horse to do, but they need to fully understand the correct response on a foundational level. Its a combination of the training AND the tools. Best wishes
Would this but work for my 20 yr old gelding? He is a paint/Percheron cross and has been trained for barrels so when I try doing circles and stops with him he throughs his neck into it and just goes faster until I force him. I really don’t want a harsher bit but can’t seem to find one that works for him
I'm a custom bit maker and a lot of the bits I make a variance of or close to the same exact I would love to to get you a bit or two and have your thoughts on them

@@horsetrainingpro Thank you for your response. My family have two young horses (3-4 years old). The first one still opens his mouth when using the correction bit. The other is hard on his mouth, does not react to any exercise, although he has never ridden a bit with a shank before.

Okay just so I’m clear , there’s nothing you can tell me about these bits which are the “future of horse training”. But we need to stock up on them and oh they are for sale on your website. What a weird video.
My mare gets hot and she’s not soft at all🙈if I pull on her her mouth, she gradually slows down but pulls harder and harder back on me. I’ve ridden her in a peanut link shank, a slow twist d ring, and a snaffle, nothing I put on her seems to touch it. I’d put something more aggressive on but she’s my baby 😂 would you recommend one of these for her?

These horses are absolutely splendid. I don't understand how this posture and carriage is considered desirable, though. Avoiding way under or behind the bit is not softness.
It’s just for the discipline. Western pleasure/reining and whatnot desire a lower head set. (Not as low as what was shown in the video)
