  • I recently bought yet another box of old CaseIH training / marketing / educational / video cassettes at an auction. Here they are for your enjoyment!

We have owned a MX 170 since 2003, its a very reliable tractor and can do many different jobs. Defiantly a proven machine

Luke Varel the entire mx line is regarded as a bit of a lemon around here. Serious issues in the backend, differentials failing regularly.

Unfortunately they're hydraulic leak having unmaintainable pieces of shit (coming from both a farmer and a professional mechanic at a case dealership)

I wish New Holland never bought caseih. These tractors were going good to be awesome.

Fiat screwed up when they merged CaseIh with New Holland . They should have kept the Case IH tractor line . The Pumas and new Maxxums aren’t half as good as these tractors. Then again Landini should have realized how lucky they were to get these tractors. They should have dumped the Landini line and kept the Case Ih in the McCormick lineup

They did keep it, untill they started tinkering with the powershift to make it an 8 speed. That made it so unreliable that the McCormick brand and the MX product line collapsed. collapsed.

But i agree: if they added two more powershift steps to the MX and incorporated the Steyr S-matic (CVX) in this tractor line, kept the MXC as is, and replaced the CX series by the various Steyr models, they could have operated as a financially stable independent manufacturer with modern product lines, from just the Neuss plant (MX and MXC) Racine (Magnum) St.Valentin (sub 100hp models, and ship St.Dizier MX gearbox production to Steyr)

Why anyone would buy such big tractor in the end of the 90's in a 2wd version is and was beyond all sober thinking.
