    For people wondering about the Motore X F3, you can get it installed in a Maltby driver for ~$280. That's for the whole club; head, shaft, grip. If you're looking to try out this shaft it's not a terrible deal.

    Absolutely! Of course you can. It’s a golf shaft, not a race car. I cannot stress enough the simplicity of the item in question. It’s an extremely simple item, and the materials used to produce it are also extremely low cost. People who pay $800 for a golf shaft are Low iq players, not low scoring 😂

    I found a Riptide Even Flow in a L flex (which is 2 down from R flex), and it is 40g which is 10g less than my current shaft. Installed the shaft into my R11 driver about 3 months ago. I don't think I'm getting much more in distance, but oh my goodness...so much more consistent and easier to swing! I'm now hitting on average 12 out of 14 fairways. Distance is somewhere around 240-250. My driver is now my favorite club. I'm 63 years old. Thanks.

      Same here (in the Netherlands btw) I fitted a Grafalloy ProLaunch Blue 45 Graphite - Wood A (50 Euro shaft) took 2 inch off from the tip and installed Cobra Adapter for my Cobra Radspeed just for fun. Put the driver onto 10.5 degree, mounted some 14 gram weight in front slot to lower spin and a 6 gram weight in the back, swingweight around D1.1
      which I love. Wow... tested it on trackman indoors, compared it to Ping 430 Max 10K, Ai Smoke Max, QI10, Cobra, TSi3 ... The 3 years old Radspeed was 7-8 yards longer then the Ai Smoke which gave a little tighter dispersion. But my Radspeed drives were all left centre line, baby draw and in the fairway all except one. But man the feel and timing fits me so much better, loving it.

    I listened to the video from a year or so ago, and did end up with a Fujikura 47 g senior flex shaft. I've been playing it for over a year and my golf partners asked this what did you change in your driver, as you're hitting it at least 20 yards longer. And I will add, I've hit more fairways too. (I didn't expect that shaft to be as accurate as it is!)
    Cheers and thank you! The original video sold me!
    PS
    The shaft I have is the "taylormade" Fugikura "speeder" 47 g shaft senior flex

    I have all Titleist clubs with a TRS2 Driver, but i'd NEVER pay $800 for a shaft. Thats outrageous. I was thinking about putting the Fuji Airspeeder in my Driver to test it out. AJ! This is really interesting. Thank you for another great video. A question: Do you know anything about the profile on Ping's Alta Quick driver shafts? Especially the 45 option. It seems to be in that senior flex, light weight, category. It comes with the HL version of the G430 but I was thinking about how it would pair with like a 9 degree Max head for a swing speed at 100 mph.

    Might be a stupid question but I understand what you are saying in regards to moving down 2 flexes, I currently swing a regular so I would potentially move down to a ladies. My question is; isn’t there a risk of the shaft breaking from the extra swing speed beyond what it is rated for? I’m not a monster driver but average 225 and the ladies is rated almost 80 yards shorter from what I’m seeing online, am I misunderstanding something here?

    By accident I played a fujikura motore Regular. I found a deal on the shaft and had a krank LD head installed. I did not know it was a regular shaft for like 6 months. Best driving I've done in my life. I adapted to the shaft pretty quickly and I think what happens is you are forced to lag and hold your hands off longer and that might be a key to why this auto flex concept works.

      I’m younger and I’ve been playing graphite shafts for more than 10+ years… I started with the MFS 115’s… then went to the Aerotech Steelfibers (great shafts, beware, they play stiffer to flex than normal) then I switched to the Recoil Prototype 110’s and finally grabbed a set of 95’s both in F4 (stiff)…
      There are so many good graphite iron shafts to help with elbow pain and soreness… or to add a few yards without sacrificing dispersion

    Matching auto flex perfectly aside, does this concept of dropping two flexes and one weight designation yield similar result in someone’s current shaft? Or is there something in the actual profile that is the bigger deal when coupled with weight and flex?

    AJ, its funny that all these hacks are coming out now. I never had the urge for the autoflex(except for the color) but last year when i got my SIM2 with the Ventus Blue(traded my Mizuno driver with a friend) in it I started tinkering. Long story short I ended up taking the Ventus(TM stock, nonVelocore) out ended up taking 1.25inches off the tip and not touching the butt end. The shaft i had in my Mizuno was a 7X and the Ventus that came in the SIM2 was a 5A. I absolutely never had a shaft that felt so good and the performance is unreal.

  • @jimscott1607

    Isn't the main selling point of the AutoFlex its "adaptive" flex/torque of the unique material? With that in mind, how do static measurements determine an "exact" replacement? This type of characteristic can only be "measured" dynamically.

    Hi hope you will see this . Have you been able to test the graphite design ag33 shaft? One TH-cam video compared to auto flex . The guy has a 110 mph plus speed and was using the regular and was hitting it really well. My swing speed is 100 to 103 mph and use a Ventus blue in 5s and have used the 6r and 6s. These are sub 40 grams and was wondering do I get the regular flex or the r2 flex? Possible for a review of this shaft?

    That Motore F3 isn't even the aftermarket one, it's the one that came stock in Cobra drivers (ZL Encore), the Motore F3 came in 60 -70- 80 and 95 HB, not 55.

      I had a heck of a time finding a good spec sheet on that shaft and that is probably why. That said, this is even better for the argument if a "made for" shaft can provide similar results.

    Hi, love your content, but to provide constructive feedback, I think there is some nuance in this "debate". I initially thought the Autoflex shaft was pixie dust. Lighter shafts and senior flex shafts are extremely hard to time for a non-pro golfer with higher swing speeds, or amateurs who load the shaft heavily. I've played with clubs with R-Flex and Senior-Flex, and my experience is that when your tempo/timing is off, lighter and whippier shafts can be a disaster. My misses were hitting the ball into the ground and/or large dispersion (usually FORE LEFT!!!). On testing an Autoflex 505x driver shaft, I found the shaft extremely easy to time and my dispersion was as tight as my driver with a 60g X-flex, but my swing speed and ball speeds were noticeably quicker. Maybe in the future, run a test with a mid handicap golfer and compare their results in terms of swing speed, ball speed, smash factor, direction deviation and spin. Pro golfers like Mr Shortgame tend to have excellent tempo, so he's easily able to adapt to shafts with different flexes, but amateur golfers tend not to have this skill in their toolset.

    • @FinbarrAherne
      @FinbarrAherne 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not dismissing your claim that the cheaper shafts can provide equal if not better results than Autoflex. I think that the above test would would provide more weight to your argument.

    This man does know what he is talking about, people get ripped off about shafts all the time. With heavy swing weighting you can make the shafts even better believe it or not. It’s a hobby of mine to destroy golf shafts with some really out side the box thinking. And I do add a lot of weight to the heads as well. Keep laughing but what works is all that matters. I sometimes spray the shaft black, stops the abuse.

    A golf club has a lightweight flexible shaft with a heavy block of wood or metal (called the head of the club) at the end. A golfer making a long shot off the tee uses a driver, a club whose 300 g head is much more massive than the 46 g ball it will hit. The golfer swings the driver so that the club head is moving at 43 m/s just before it collides with the ball. The collision is so rapid that it can be treated as the collision of a moving 300 g mass (the club head) with a stationary 46 g mass (the ball); the shaft of the club and the golfer can be ignored.

  • @christophertandy8317

    Have you also looked at head weight. I used autoflex and got more from it when I got to a specific head weight. This left me to conclude that the tip stiffness was influenced and in the end I could use anything if the tip stiffness was in the same ball park.

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Autoflex recommends dropping head weight to get to what I would call pretty arbitrary swing weights. Like many other elements here, dropping weight will allow you to swing the club faster and gain speed not from the shaft but just from physics. It does also as you said stiffen the shaft a bit and that can help control what would otherwise be too whippet for some golfers.

    When you built the riptide shaft did you do any special tip trimming? When I tested the AutoFlex shaft and compared it to my gamer I was surprised with its accuracy. I’ve thought about testing a lighter shaft and dropping from an Xflex down to regular but tipping the shaft 1-2 inches to see if it’s possible to retain a tighter strike pattern as the autoflex strike pattern was twice as large as my tour ad VR at the same shaft length. I never miss in the heel but I missed low heel to high toe with the autoflex as opposed to center to high toe miss with my gamer. I thought this might be to shaft droop from a weaker tip section.

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      PX shaft was straight in, butt cut only. It was a good bit stiffer than the 505 he was hitting. The PX would be a good match against the 505xx I am sure.
      As far as misses go, this idea clearly won't work for everyone. Some swings will not jive with a light flexible shaft and need something more heavy and rigid.
      However if the Autoflex is a good match for your swing, then these other shafts I highlighted will also provide similar results.
      Remember tipping a shaft only changes flex slightly. One inch of tipping = 1/2 a flex move up.

    It would have been interesting to see his results against the ventus red 6x he got fitted at fujikura and currently plays. Curious if he tried the motore f3 at half the ventus price.

    Great Video and Info! I bought the evenflow CB 40 in seniorflex for 65€ and see if it performes similar to SF 505. I like the Autoflexshaft even it costs a bunch but gives me extra 4-5 mph Clubheadspeed compared to regular or stiff flex shafts. Downside are surly the costs and it sometimes hooks on me. Maybe the dispersion of the evenflow is a bit thighter.

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The closer the alternate shaft is to the Autoflex, the closer the result will be. I think the 40 in 4.0 will be a little stiffer than the 505 so it might curb some of the hooks.

    Mr. Short game was playing the wrong autoflex shaft ..at his swing speed he should have been using at least a 505X.
    His autoflex results may have been much better…!!
    Great video ,please try again with the 505 x or 505xx
    I have been using the autoflex and moving up or down the flex range makes a huge difference..
    The autoflex is also extremely dependant on head weight…did you find the optimum head weight?

    Hi, love your channel! Do you think the Diamana RF 50 R or the Diamana ZF 40 R2 would match the autoflex? I have 89mph driver swing speed. I wonder what bend point is the autoflex, is it mid or low bend point? Thanks

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  ปีที่แล้ว

      It has a very soft mid section and tip with a stiffer handle comparatively. I have found the exact profile to be less important however than the weight and flex part.

      That would be the closest match to the 505 Autoflex which is what they would recommend for your swing speed.

      That's the whole point here. There are many many options that will do the same thing as a Autoflex. Harder part will be finding 30g shaft options. Grand Bassera in Light flex or Fujikura Air Speeder would be two options. Fujikura also makes a 45g Vista Pro that would stack up well I think.

    • @EFGMC

      The counter balance would not change the flex. You could add more weight to the head to soften it.

    Great video. AF has great marketing and what they sell works for many.. at a price. Thanks for the comparisons, butt and tip flex/frequency weight should allow a similar comparison.
    After watching some long drive guys builds I got hooked on a light flexible 48” combination and gained a lot of distance (after a lot of practice with this setup) I use a Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue 45 “A” flex $45 in a Ping g400 LST adjusted to 6 degree and get great launch and spin numbers. While maybe not for everyone I like it!!

    @Mobile Clubmaker. Hey AJ, what do you think of the Grafalloy PFC 50 Series? It is an older high launch/low spin shaft. Would a senior flex have a similar profile to the Motore F3?

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure about PFC. ProLaunch is always a good shaft.
      Only issue I have is any shaft that claims high launch low spin is just flat out lying. Launch and spin go hand in hand, don't get one without the other.

  • @ocashflo
    @ocashflo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    In club building I found that often price was a better seller than performance. The average amateur and even the better golfer’s swing wasn’t as repeatable as they thought it was. That always skewed the results and lead to a logical decision to spend money on lessons.
    I do think the shaft is the engine of the club when you consider performance but just like the open road most people need to drive the reliable 4 door sedan because they will never need that 700hp exotic super car. They simply need to get from tee (point A) to green (point B).
    Keep up the great content!!!

      @@ocashflo I would say the closet thing would be the club face. Some are hotter than others to the point where they are illegal. There you go.
      The shaft is more like the suspension. Some people like it stiff, some like it plush. Whatever you prefer that helps you drive the way you want with the most confidence and enjoyment is the point of a shaft.
