My favorite part of the entire race was Checo celebrating next to Jos' thousand meter stare.
Wasn't that ridiculous, not an ounce of joy for checko who outdid his son, on merit and not team orders!
Did you see Max and Checo in the cool down room? Max basically ignored Checo, walking around him to congratulate Alonso.

My favorite moment as well, that cooldown room is so weird, max always puts his helmets on the other person’s chair, and then sits in the middle, it’s automatic behavior at this point

how do you get these videos out so quickly Will, do you record your practice and qualifying bits on the friday and saturday respectively? Its very impressive how you can occasionally get your comedy reviews out before the official f1 channel gets their highlights out, considering the difference in budgets and resources.
Yea that’s pretty much it, am usually say waiting for f1 to post the highlights so I can add the finishing touches

Am not suprised George pulled away since he was on the hard and I really feel Lewis isn't motivated unless there's a minimum of 2nd place on the table n even at that he only wants to be in 1st

(To be fair, it would still be less painful than watching them racing in P19 and P20 every week)
Haha Lewis is BY FAR the only driver who can fully express himself without any worries if he gets the FiA, team or the media as a whole into a tiff of controversy. The dude will retire as the most accomplished F1 driver in history. Aside from his on track resumè,, he is still very much the face of the sport and knows it! I cannot imagine how anyone besides him could have been as blunt about the Saudi problems without his team ripping them a new one
Can't believe you didn't mention the national anthem. It sounded like there were at least a few musicians involved who hadn't had much experience with their instruments. One of the funniest things I've heard for ages! You'd think that with as much exposure as the race got that they'd have brought out the A team but apparently not.

Funny thing was the safety car actually didn't benefit Hammy, the switch to mediums was far too early for him
I'm only going to watch will fp1 this season, I did it last season and it saved me so much time and tbh it's a better perspective on formula one then watching the whole season. Keep up the great work, you actually make the sport entertaining.

@@harry4454 the (team)watch is an occasional section of the comedy review (with its own title sequence!) dedicated to a team that is performing badly/ below expectations. 2021, there was Haas-watch. 2022, there was Aston-watch. Based on McLaren's performance so far, it is not far away. See below for example (this way a separate full video, but gives you an idea)

Stroll was about to take P4 from Russell before his car gave up.
@@BrunodeSouzaLino yep, which is just absolutely crazy, not just because who'd ever imagine Mercedes could actually be challenged by an Aston, but it's Stroll.
It's going to be a point here, a point there, for all of the teams in the midfield. It's a little unusual that there are five strong teams to snap up all of the points except when something weird happens.
Can't wait for AM to have the Merc engines. Which is such a fuck you to merc

I am no fanboy of FA/LH/MV but this is the right decision.
For the record my opinion is: FiA needs to revisit penalties being served during safety-car but I don't have any solutions for that.

FIA said they put out the SC because of a likely GPS malfunction that showed the car still on track. Can't say I blame them. Although I do enjoy seeing Ferrari loose so I may be biased 😂

As with so many road drivers relying on GPS, they should have just looked out of the window to see the actual situation.
I noticed nobody was saying “yea merc are guaranteed pole but the fight behind will be interesting” when merc was dominating. But it’s only the second race of 2023 and everyone saying the same thing about redbull😒 nice double standard or British bias people

Aww, you missed the funniest part! How Red Bull and Mercedes fans are becoming just like each other. In Red Bull, they were screaming about how the team was favoring Max and telling Checo to slow down, despite the fact that nothing of the sort happened and they actually told Checo to push when he didn't have to anymore because Max's car was screwed. Meanwhile, Mercedes fans were howling about how the team was betraying Lewis and favoring George, and how they should have made George let him through.
Both delusional if you ask me🙄
For me, I was originally in the camp of letting Lewis through. However, it wouldn't have made a difference due to tyre drop off so Russell would have probably gotten past Lewis In the final few laps.
The main thing is Lewis is still ahead in the championship
Mercedes is pulling a Ferrari this season. The best past was when Russell mentioned to the team he was gonna get closer to Alonso for when he served his penalty only to be told he already had done it when he pitted. As per Lewis, who knows why he decided to start the race on hards when everyone else was on mediums...Even K-Mag, which seems to only race with hards.
@@harry69007 Yeah, and there’s no problem with thinking that since at the time, Lewis definitely seemed to have the pace. The issue though, is that there are people who are acting like there is a big conspiracy against Lewis in the team. I mean he’s practically the face of the Mercedes-AMG F1. They have zero reasons to intentionally screw up his racing. They may make stupid decisions occasionally, sure, but it's not to intentionally bring Lewis down.

As for Lewis on hards, I think it's because the mediums were so good, they probably thought he could use it to attack the other cars towards the end when they would be on the slower hards, plus they would have had to stop for the hards before Lewis went onto the mediums, so he would have the fresher tires. The problem is that Mercedes underestimated how bad the grip on the hards would be. There was a time early in the race when Lewis was the only one on hards in the top 10, with the other seven drivers on hards at the back of the grid.
@@theuniversaldisneyian2021 Merc's car has been know to cause increased tire degradation because of the lack of side pods, which are necessary for aero in this car design since last season where they couldn't set the ride height lower to prevent porpoising.
I find this Race Review rather entertaining, and to ensure that the 1st Race was not a Fluke (😉) I've waited until now to Subscribe!! Also as other's may've said, having allowed George Russel 10 minutes with the 3rd Place trophy to show Toto "look what I did"! It was unceremoniously given back to Alonso as the FIA neither understand their own rules or know how to apply them in a consistent way! Also I may try to ascertain if a jack "touching" a car can be equated to working on it in real life as I've informed a friend, who's a VW Master Tech, to see if he can get away with leaning his trolley jack against a customer's ID.3 and just drink tea all day and see if he keeps his job!!😂

From what the commentators said the RB are about 20 mph faster than the rest of the pack and that's a very big hurdle for the other teams to combat and it was Gasly that squeezed Piastri not Ocon

This is shaping up to be a pretty boring year. You can guess the top ten before every race and you'd be right 90% of the time. There's too much performance difference between the cars and driver skill has never been more meaningless.
Here's the top ten for the rest of the year:
1 Verstappen
2 Perez
3 Alonso
4 Merc
5 Merc
6 Stroll (If he doesn't screw up)
7 Ferrari
8 Ferrari
9 Alpine
10 Alpine
Strong disagree. The disparity in dev time alone this season between RB and Aston can easily see Alonso fighting Checo later in the year. Everyone behind the top three is anyone's guess based on the circuit (and how much Ferrari bottles it).
After the Alonso shenanigans we need FIA Watch.

Drive a F1 car flat-out all the time is called racing. The current F1 sport is a concours d'elegance championship coasting around different tracks.
That penalties are unfortunate but Ocon had the same fate, 5 secs because of failing the new grid procedure and 10 secs for the pit crew touching the car to early.
The thing that bugs me is that they wasted OVER half of the entire event to even tell Aston Martin of the penalty.

That safety car was just nonsense. FIA always claim they have cars everywhere but the GPS shows the car is on the track but the camera clearly shows the car parked off the track. The Merc engine in the back of that Aston Martin is just plain crap. If it had more grunt then Alonso would have kept them genuinely honest. So clearly Merc don't have an aerodynamics problem but more a horsepower problem. Why can't they just come out and admit it. Proof is in the pudding with the Aston Martin.
Those fast Safety Cars are a response of heavy criticism from the last season where they would take forever to send even a VSC when necessary. And that had resulted in things like Gasly receiving penalty points in Suzuka for speeding under yellow flags, despite the track having extremely low visibility and him almost crashing into a tractor on track removing debris from a crash.
Love the video but i love more Will is that the Post Race events were more interesting than the actual race!

after the podium celebrations the FIA decided that engineers had touched the car too soon and so the first 5 second penalty hadn't been served properly, like occon last race except being decided after there was nothing that could be done about it by the team

According to the FIA, he served the penalty incorrectly because the rear jack mechanic touched the car (but didn't lift it) during it and that constitutes "working on the car." FIA had to reverse it because Aston Martin showed 7 instances of the same penalty where the jack mechanics touched the car with their jacks and nothing was done about it. If the FIA didn't use this current back assward system where they switch race directors every race and said directors don't communicate with each other, that "blunder" wouldn't have happened. What made things worse was Ocon had the same penalty last race and it was announced 3 laps after it happened, as opposed to 1 hour later and after the offending driver was already given the whole podium celebration.
We need a McLarenwatch.
