    Really great review, Scott! I appreciate the thoroughness. Cosmo 600 is in B&H's DealZone today... I think you just answered just about every question I could have had about it. Thank you.

    Scott, I see the 3.5mm audio in to transmit audio. But does it transmit audio from HDMI (from camera) as well?

      Hi! It does transmit audio from the HDMI source no problem :)

    Great video! How can you live with the lack of battery indicator on transmitter. You almost never know you if run out of power in the next moment. Also missing to be able power up the reciever from wired power network. What do you think?

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much! Most of the time I have these running off v-mount power and I can monitor the battery life from there, and there are even some NP-F batteries with level indicators on them and they can be super helpful in situations like this. Sometimes even more accurate than what you'd get on this little display screen anyway haha. As for the wired power network, not sure I understand, sorry. Do you mean just having it plugged in then being able to turn power on and off remotely?

    Great review! How do you find video quality, i mean picture wise..

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! It's great- I believe it's a 10 bit 4:2:2 signal with no compression, so as long as you have a solid connection it's just like looking at the camera's own monitor.

    Hello ! very good review !! Is it possible to connect a iPhone to the COSMO 600 like the 400s does? And how many iPhone connections at the same time? thanks

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Thanks so much. Unfortunately, the Cosmo series is not compatible with the mobile app (it was put out a while before the app had been developed). Not sure if they'll add anything to the lineup in the future that bridges that gap, but for now the Mars 400 or new Mars 300 Pro are the most professional kits with mobile app compatibility. I believe the Mars 400 can connect to 4 devices, and the 300 Pro 3 devices total (either 3 mobiles or 2 mobiles and 1 receiver). Hope that helps!

    Does the transmitter really cross convert the HDMI input to the SDI "loop" output?! This seems unlikely... but would be truly awesome if it really does this.

    • @ScottDumas

      It does! Very useful little feature :)

    • @zoanyway

      @@ScottDumas And now I REAAALLLY want one! To output HDMI from my BM Pocket 6K into the Cosmo, output SDI from the Cosmo transmitter into my on-camera monitor, then send the signal over to the Cosmo receiver for 1st AC and video village! Too bad this Cosmo 600 has been discontinued, and there really is no equivalent product on the market for less than several thousand dollars. :-( I will look for a used one or a NOS, probably directly from China, unfortunately.

      100% Hollyland Mars 600. I've been using it consistently since this review and it hasn't given me a single hiccup. Totally worth it, top notch quality :) I know in some markets having the "Teradek" name might sadly be important, but it doesn't matter whatsoever for me personally.

      Not with this one, but with the Mars 300 or Mars 400/400s you can. I've been using the 400 for a little while now and really like it, plus you can connect to a receiver/monitor at the same time as an iphone or ipad :)

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TomSykesMedia For the Cosmo 600? I got about 200 meters/over 600ft outdoors and couldn't test it anywhere indoors with that much space haha... but it will depend on some factors like if you have bodies/walls in the way, how crowded of a wireless environment you're in etc. I haven't tested the Mars at full distance yet but I trust it will be as they claim, about 400ft in ideal conditions

    Question, why you say Zero Latency, when you are basically showing us it has latency? I'm confused......

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It has practically zero *additional* latency compared to what you'd see on a hard wired monitor, nothing extra introduced by the wireless system in other words. HDMI in particular by nature has a very little bit of latency inherently depending on the camera

    • @dm.b7560
      @dm.b7560 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ScottDumas thanks for the info, I'm I bit confused by what we can see in the video and the text, means it has 4 frames latency?

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@dm.b7560 Sorry about that. Yes, there was about 4 frames delay between the actual action happening and the response of the monitor, but that didn't change between using an actual HDMI cable and using the wireless system, so the wireless system does not show any more delay that you would normally see, and that will depend on the camera of course.
