I feel like the best part about this is seeing the Hoonigan crew genuinely excited to create content again. I don't think they have been this pumped about anything since they lost Ken. I really think Rob is going to be the catalyst that revives this channel. Best one-sided race I've ever seen on This vs That.
Rob's car looked like it was on crack today, just shows you how much it's improving even between episodes Next part has to have some of the heavy hitters though, with the rate it's improving it's gonna be able to handle its own with them
@Rob Dahm honestly the trial and error is one of the best parts of a build like this, and is one of the reasons why I've been hooked on to this series for so long. Just inspired me to plan to build a car that has the same concept of the 4 rotor, except with an engine with even worse reliability (if it can even be built): an '04 Impreza with 2 EJ20's connected together to make a flat 8. Although that has to wait until I am actually out of college and have some spare income, so it won't be starting until 10 years later haha
@shred1894 growing up my family always had a Subaru as the "workhorse car" and while most of them were not top-spec models (a 1.6 Blobeye, a 2.5 Outback '06 and then a 2.5 Legacy '10) I just grew attached to the brand. This is why I want to have a WRX STi one day, and then while watching Rob's videos I said to myself "wait a fucking second, I have an idea!" And this whole mid-engined, flat 8 Blobeye just came to mind as my "final vision for how far you can push a Subaru"

First time I’ve really seen the 4 rotor actually gripping and running well in drag races. It’s always been races where something goes wrong every run and now the car seems like it’s actually controlling the power it already had.
@@el00hel the heavier car actually got better traction at the start by having more mass pushing down on the tires, its not to say rob dont got traction but his advatage is just after the start going in to #2 gear. that might be a part of why the blue audi he raced seem to hook up better in the start and he had some power also down the stretch.

I love how they haven't replaced the rear window. That car is MOVING! Gotta love how much they're cheesing about it! I can't wait til they get it dialed in just right and get to hoonicorn levels. Might have to add another rotor to start racing jets

Sounds like the higher diff ratio was done as Rob suggested previously as the gears got now reasonably long. Also it looks like to boost dropping during gearchange issue was solved as It was accelerating smooth unlike the previous jumping during gear changes.
So nice to see the dammn thing keeps getting faster and more dialed.. I still vividly remember when people were saying this build is a lie and will never run haha.

@@Sawyer1117 I just did a google search and the only rcsb truck to weigh 3940 is a non A/C truck with a small 5.3. The rest sit of the 2WD 2 doors weigh around 4,400Ibs. That's pretty much expected from an older truck (99-2004) with less interior features.

This race feels just like playing a videogame and reminds me why I love the RX7 so much. Back in the day playing Sega GT you could just keep upgrading the RX7 into new performance classes over and over, that thing just never stops getting faster.
sick RX-7, the only thing i gotta say i think the headlights should be a little bigger....the front looks funny with the little headlights....but thats me, you do have a badass RX-7, im not taking anything away from it or what you've done to it....keep up the awesome content and ill keep watching and hitting those like buttons👍
I kinda enjoy this break down of car vs car before the race. Feels like it flows better. Though I do like the crew asking questions about the cars before the race. Not even upset that Robs breakdown of the RX7 has been used before. Slimmed down and made tight. Just works, and fits good in this format.
If the truck owners power numbers are accurate, that would mean he is spraying a 400 shot on a stock bottom end, I'm assuming no ring gap added or anything when I hear stock bottom end... That is incredible that it is still together.
I really don't quite get one thing about this series and its how unfair some of these matchps are. The truck is heavier, makes way less power, has half the drive wheels, has way worse aero, yet we still put it up against that. I feel like Robs RX-7 is really being protected, lets do some fair fights. It's a much better watch too.
He lost 2 and won 2. As I understand it, this race would have been more fair if Rob didn't turn it way up overnight. This didn't look fair at all, but some of them that Dahm lost didn't look fair either. That's racing.

yeah. rob really designed it to be reliable. once he ironed out the issues it had previously while racing, it's a beast.

That's a pretty standard weight for a truck its size. Not exactly heavy considering 4WD trucks enter the the 5,000Ibs territory lol.

This race feels just like playing a videogame and reminds me why I love the RX7 so much.
Back in the day playing Sega GT you could just keep upgrading the RX7 into new performance classes over and over, that thing just never stops getting faster.
sick RX-7, the only thing i gotta say i think the headlights should be a little bigger....the front looks funny with the little headlights....but thats me, you do have a badass RX-7, im not taking anything away from it or what you've done to it....keep up the awesome content and ill keep watching and hitting those like buttons👍

If the truck owners power numbers are accurate, that would mean he is spraying a 400 shot on a stock bottom end, I'm assuming no ring gap added or anything when I hear stock bottom end... That is incredible that it is still together.

I really don't quite get one thing about this series and its how unfair some of these matchps are. The truck is heavier, makes way less power, has half the drive wheels, has way worse aero, yet we still put it up against that. I feel like Robs RX-7 is really being protected, lets do some fair fights. It's a much better watch too.
He lost 2 and won 2. As I understand it, this race would have been more fair if Rob didn't turn it way up overnight. This didn't look fair at all, but some of them that Dahm lost didn't look fair either. That's racing.
The RX-7 is a very suiting spiritual successor to the Hoonicorn. Rob and his team built one special and very fast car
