    Thank you to Tony & Jashan for speaking out about this & not taking the obligatory mainstream accepted narrative. Such a breath of fresh air.
    So many public figures either tiptoe around the Welcome To Country BS or more commonly, talk down to their audience & assume some faux-moral high ground demanding everyone must think the way they do or they're guilty of any number of isms, phobias & assorted thought crimes.
    It's condescending as hell to welcome people to the country they were born in, the country their parents and their parents, were born in. Every sporting event, every flight you take, you can barely book a hotel these days without all that stuff shoved down your throat.
    Pardon the rant, but the point is, thank you once again fellas for speaking sense about an issue which is no doubt bringing out all the sanctimonious virtue signallers who are predictably now spewing no end of bile because they don't control your tongue.
    Thank you both for having a spine. We need much more of this nowadays🙏

    It’s actually a shame that the AFL or whoever is in charge doesn’t show case Aussie artists more often. We’ve got so many great artists. I understand bringing in major international bands & artists draws more eyes to afl but also I think it’s a bit FU to our own talent.

    Acknowledgement and the welcome to country (two DIFFERENT things btw) would have more of an impact if it was done at a less frequency, just seems to be a corporate checkbox of 'look at us, we're inclusive'.
    ALTHOUGH, your point that the "stuff that went on" "only happened 200 years ago" (34:45) is very incorrect, the stolen generation and other atrocities happened well into the 80s.

    49:10. The red light analogy is kind of dumb so I don't see the need to applaud it. Would be more appropriate to say 'If I rob a bank and steal 1 million dollars and leave a big inheritance to my children should my children apologise on behalf of my actions if their lives continually benefit from the money I stole, while the family who owned the bank suffers continuous generational trauma from my actions and their lives as they knew it destroyed'?

      Thankyou. This was gross. "It's not a "thing" around the world apparently. A total uneducated ignorant perspective asking for more ignorance. I bet they would respect what Hitler did as a significant sensitive RELEVENT portion of history..but "it's not the same thing". And it's not currently happening around the world. This is the absolute bottom feed of creativity I have ever had the pleasure if witnessing. Gross. Pathetic. Uneducated. They should stick to influencers aspiring to be influential.

    Waste of episode you guys seriously need a reality check, have a good hard think about it, understand and respect that’s all you need guys 😅 you know why they put it in daycares and schools it’s to bypass the parents who have no respect or understanding & don’t teaches our children 😅

    • @4oclocksomewhere
      @4oclocksomewhere  หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Like I mentioned in the pod, I'm all for hearing about history of particular areas / tribes etc, however I don't think Welcome to Country, which basically implies to people they don't belong in the place they were born, is helping the cause for understanding and respect. Nor is "bypassing parents to teach their kids" in any way going to garner understanding or respect. Again as mentioned, I just think the nature that it is all being done is more divisive than not, and I don't believe the goal was to ever divide.. so something's gone wrong somewhere.
